Just returned home after a 2-night mid-week stay at this beautiful and charming B&B. It was the perfect quick getaway. The house is clean, beautifully decorated, and spacious. We felt welcome as soon as we walked up to the house and met Dave. He gave us a tour and showed us to our lovely (and large) room with a view of the vineyard. Dave and Donna have thought of anything you may need. There's a bar, 24-hr access to coffee, tea and water, board games, pool table, a mini indoor golf set, spacious outdoor seating to take in the beauty of the property or have a drink by one of the fire pits, even microwave popcorn! Dave made us a fabulous breakfast each morning and was super friendly as he presented each dish and chatted with us. If you're considering checking this place out, DO IT!!! We will definitely be back to spend more time at this fantastic east end gem. read more

My wife and I visited Cedar House for the first time for an overnight on the North Fork on Valentine's Weekend - but it certainly won't be our last visit. For a larger Bed & Breakfast in terms of the property itself, it felt super warm and cozy. The common areas were really nice and the rooms were perfect. The location can't be beat as you are right in the middle of the North Fork surrounded by great wineries, restaurants, and beaches. As to the breakfast portion of the "B & B"? Let's just say we didn't need to eat the rest of the day. It was fantastic. Our hosts - Dave and Donna - were just so nice and we not only enjoyed staying at their house, but really enjoyed sitting and chatting with them during our visit. They do a great job and made us feel welcome. If you are heading to the North Fork, it's a perfect place to settle in for a night or more. Cedar House on sound Bed and breakfast was pure perfection. I had bookmarked this bed and breakfast years ago. I am happy to say that I have just returned from a weekend girl's retreat with my best friend here. We were so happy with everything they offered. Our vineyard one room was just breathtaking.The room was clean, spacious, rustic ,and beautiful. Waking up to see the vineyard every morning was delightful. Our bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on besides my own bed. The bed sheets were everything. I ended up asking where I could buy the sheets from haha. I loved that our room was next to the wine bar . The wine bar was self serve and on an honor system . So you could get wine whenever you wanted and pay for it at check out. I typically don't like red wines, but their dessert wine was so amazing that, I bought two bottles. I found it so cool that they had their own vineyard with their own wines. Breakfast every morning was five stars. Dave is not only an amazing host but also such an amazing cook. He made the most incredible meals with the freshest ingredients. He used coffee grinds around pork tenderloin with chutney and I was just blown away. This meal is what he referred to a cedar version on steak and eggs! I could get used to eating breakfast like that everyday. The potatoes hash was pure genius. Also Dave gave great suggestions for dinner and for places to go hiking. Genuinely the sweetest and coolest guy ever. I just loved this bed and breakfast so much. Everyone was so friendly. I loved the fire pit outside. I loved the Keurig and biscotti.I loved the common area with the pool table, books, games, popcorn, Netflix etc. I loved the well kept grounds, and the vineyard was so beautiful. Thank you cedar house for the most epic retreat ever . I feel so recharged. I needed a zen weekend and that's exactly what I got. I met pretty cool down to earth people. I ate five star breakfasts. He was so warm, welcoming and friendly to myself and my best friend during our girls retreat weekend. The entire place is so relaxing and gorgeous as well. They have everything you could ever need. The common areas are well kept and have some fun entertainment. The bar area is perfect for getting in some much needed wine and the backyard with the fire pit is perfect for some relaxation and view of the stars. Our room was so cozy, clean and relaxing. The sheets on the bed were so soft and luxurious. We had a great view of the vineyard in the back. I was in awe of this place the entire time and didn't want to leave. Everything about this place was amazing. The building is modern but with a rustic feel. It is spacious and well decorated. The room we stayed in was large and the bed was very comfortable. Loved the mini-golf game in the main room. A good selection of board games are available for people to play. And breakfast was delicious. David made us bacon and eggs, toast, and the best potato pancakes I've ever had. David and Donna were very friendly and we enjoyed morning conversation over coffee. One of the best bed and breakfast experience I ever had, they are on my top 5. David and Donna are excellent host, after reading their good reviews I decided to book a weekend stay, I'm so glad I did because they're are worth 5 starts and beyond for the hospitality they gave us. I saw a one bad review here on Yelp and I think they're were wrong about the business and location because Dave and Donna are the best not complains at all and especially not racist at all. We felt from the moment we walked in that we were family, David is so invited and very humble. My wife and I were lucky enough to land at Cedar House for a weekend in July with our six-month-old son. I travel a lot and can honestly say that Dave and Donna are some of the best hosts I've had. My first visit to North Fork was made even more special with the perfect Bed and Breakfast experience thanks to Dave and Donna at Cedar House on Sound. Literally the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in and the breakfast was one I will long for until my next visit! In addition to the actually bed and breakfast, Cedar House on Sound is a spacious and beautiful property with hard wood floors and plenty of room to lounge, eat, read, relax and play games or billiards. There is an "honor" bar where you can buy bottles of wine from the Vineyard on the property and a wonderful fire pit on the porch, perfect for cool summer nights. Many thanks personally to Dave who gave us a wealth of information on deals, transportation, great walks, dining options, wineries and more. We couldn't have loved our complete experience at the Cedar House on Sound more! My husband and I rented out the whole B&B for a weekend in September 2014 for our wedding. On the night before the wedding we held a rehearsal dinner pig roast at the B&B and I along with my bridal party stayed the night and got ready there the morning of, then we stayed with select wedding guests the actual night of our wedding. Everything was perfect. Dave and Donna are incredibly accommodating, fun and warm hosts. The house and grounds are impeccably clean and well cared for. The breakfast the morning of my wedding, as well as the breakfast the day following my wedding, was awesome! Our friends still talk about what a great time they had there. After seeing great reviews I decided to take my fiance' to Cedar House for a nice getaway. We did not leave disappointed! Dave was extremely nice and helpful. As soon as we arrived he greeted us with a smile and showed us around He assisted us with great advice on where to eat and which wineries he enjoyed. The discount card he gave us kept some money in our wallets which was amazing. We stayed in Courtyard 1 which was very cozy and well kept. There was a decent size TV and free wifi available. We were barely in our room as the Great Room and The Vineyard Lounge has a lot to offer. The Great Room has ample seating, a pool table, and a large 52" flat screen TV. I got a couple games of billiards in and watched the Knicks on one of the nights I was there. There are also board games and a small refrigerator which was nice. The Vineyard Lounge is also nice to hang out in. We brought some of our own wine and cheese and enjoyed a bottle of fine wine from the vineyard. After having a glass we went outside to the fire pit and hung out with a couple that was also staying at the B&B. There are comfy blankets and Adirondack chairs which is a nice touch. The breakfast was savory and satisfying. Dave creates culinary masterpieces which we all loved. He catered to me because I did not like eggs which was nice. My fiance' loved an egg concoction that Dave cooked up and I loved a yogurt bowl with fruits and nuts. Dave offered seconds but we were too stuffed. There were also coffee and juices available, needed after a full day of drinking wine! I would recommend using the discount card Dave gives you for some nice wineries and restaurants. Macari is my new favorite vineyard and is in walking distance. The B&B is in a great location with many wineries around. Give this B&B a try. We will be back! read more

This is the best B&B we have ever been to. First, it is on a family vineyard and the wines are great. This isn't your typical B&B. There are five guest rooms in this B&B. And they are all spread out. We stayed in the courtyard 1 or 2 (both of those rooms are next to the dining room but there was a door which separated these two rooms from the kitchen and dining room.) our room was very comfortable and had a private bath with a shower. The rooms have coded locks on them so all you have to do is remember your room code to get in and no worry about lost keys! The house also has a common room with a large TV, plush couches, board games a small refrigerator for guest use, and a beautiful pool table for guest use. There is also a nice selection of DVD's and books you can use while there. There is also a half bath in that area as well. Beyond the the common room there is a lounge with an honor system bar and they sell The family vineyard wines. There is a lovely bar with lovely bar stools, a long beer hall table and a flat screen TV. Beyond that are French doors that open to a seating area around a fire pit. They have Adirondack chairs around the pit and there is a fire nightly. They have marshmallows (so we found out after we bought our own) to roast in the fire. We met some nice people and had nice conversation with other guests out by the fire pit. Donna and Dave are the owners of the B&B and they are just the nicest people! They made us feel extremely welcome and at home. We couldn't be more thankful for that. Dave always asked what our plans were for the day and what we ended up doing when we returned from our day. He seemed genuinely interested in U.S. The breakfasts (cooked by Dave) were phenomenal! We always went off on our day and a very satisfied belly! There was coffee several juices, tea available to go along with the food. Dave always had an interesting story to tell about how he came about the dish and told us specifically what we're were eating. They do also ask about food allergies and dietary preferences. In that vein, I got a potato pancake instead of a mushroom cap in the breakfast one day because I do not like mushrooms. The best place to stay on the North Fork---and it's not your average B&B. so if you're looking for that old victorian feel, keep searching. Cedar House is a beautiful place; in both aesthetics and the overall vibe and atmosphere. It was recently built so everything is brand new. The rooms are clean, nicely decorated, each HAS A TV (and from my former experience at a LI B&B that is not standard), IPOD dock, a nice bathroom, and complimentary drinks/snacks. From the moment we walked into the Cedar House, I instantly felt at home. Dave and Donna are truly the best hosts; they make you feel comfortable, show you around the premises, and recommend where to go/where to eat/where to drink. They are a huge part as to why my boyfriend and I had a great weekend in LI. They made us feel like we were old friends, and because of that instant inviting atmosphere, we didn't shy away from spending time at the B&B (again, the exact opposite from my last LI B&B experience). They have a bar on premises (where we got a complimentary tasting from the Scarola winery--the Mistura wine is delicious-I even bought myself a bottle to take home!) and a great outside area with adirondack chairs and a fire pit. My boyfriend and I literally spent both Friday and Saturday night in that area and had the best time! I cannot wait to come back to Cedar House--next time I want to get a bunch of my friends so we can rent out the whole place :) i would 100% recommend Cedar House to anyone! The hubby and I only have Mondays off, so we called Cedar house up to see if they could accommodate us for a Monday night. We arrive early in the morning and there was a very nice gentleman who opened the door for us and greeted us. He let us into this beautiful house and directed us to our room. After we put in our stuff breakfast was served. David (one of the owners) had cooked up a double baked potato for us which was delicious. We stayed at the courtyard 2. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable too. The one thing I can say is that the pictures of the website do not do this place justice... We were offered beach passes and passes to near by vineyards. We decided to go to Lenz (you get a free tasting for 2 when you stay at Cedar). We came back to the house at around 6pm to do a free tasting at the Cedar house as well. The staff is very very friendly and accommodating. Everything was simply perfect. read more

I can't say enough about how positive our stay was here. Dave was such a great host--fun, hospitable, and honestly the kind of person you'd want to have a drink with. He and his wife, Donna, are the ideal B&B hosts--not at all pretentious, just super down-to-earth people. The place itself was beautiful--rustic, clean, modern, and amazingly restored. It was really spacious, too, allowing people to socialize, but big enough for privacy as well. The on-site bar was a really great amenity, and the wine prices are quite reasonable, too. The Cab Franc was very good and full-bodied, and it was nice to be able to try Scarola Vineyards wine. Dave made the kind of breakfast that you talk about hours later, which is exactly what my boyfriend and I did on the drive home. Twice-baked potatoes, which Dave said was an homage to the farming history of the B&B. And, an incredibly tasty homage at that. My wife and I love going out to the wineries so her friend recommended this place. It's in a great location right near the wineries . The place itself is gorgeous it's an old barn that they restored . When I walked in my first impression was wow this place really nice. My wife and I pass this all the time and never even knew it was a bed-and-breakfast. Let me start with what is so great about this place.. the rooms were very clean the path and was clean linens or so comfortable to sleep in the room itself was immaculate!! They have an Lounge area..A room where you could play pool. They also are a winery they have a bar in the back you could bring your own wine or you can enjoy their wine . They also have a fire pit out back we could sit around and have a glass of wine . The owner is on the premises which is great because if there's any problem he'll take care of it. About four times a year my husband and I travel to the North Fork to evaluate and taste wines. We have stayed at many establishments in nearly every town on the NF and this is by far the best experience, ever. Everything about Cedar House is perfect. Our two night stay was romantic, quiet and serene. If you are able to travel mid week and enjoy the quiet side of North Fork wine tasting this is the best time to go. We stayed in the Tuscan Suite and the bed was so comfortable it was a challenge to get out of it in the morning. The linens are high quality and no expense has been spared in the construction of this gorgeous B&B. Even the closet had an automatic light! (which is solar powered!) The breakfast is simply divine. Yum! The portions are huge and healthy. Our first morning we were served fruit salad, local fresh spinach omelet , signature home fries with sweet potatoes and toast with a selection of juices and coffee. Our second breakfast was unbelievably delicious. Our first course was a perfectly poached egg on top of a slowly marinated portabella mushroom with local asparagus. Our second course was French toast with a local berry sauce. These meals bested the best breakfast place on the North Fork (which I'll not name here. :). The only downside is that Dave does not cook dinner. If he did we would have made our reservations with him. Our hosts, Donna, Dave, Livia and Heidi were the perfect combination of there-to-help-at any-moment to knew-when-to-grant-privacy. The way the B&B is laid out and constructed ensures privacy between rooms. I would love to return with a group of friends or family since this is the ideal venue for a get together for 4 couples. One of the highlights of Cedar Sound is the tasting bar located right outside our room. We had the best time tasting the owner's own labor of love, Scarola Vineyards wine. We polished off a bottle or two (I lost count) paired with cheese and sausage and at midnight were able to take 6 steps to our comfy bed. We loved the wine so much we took home a case and have been drinking it every night since. Like everything else at Cedar Sound it is crafted with care, skill, love and consciousness and it really shows. Dinner recommendations from Dave were spot on, we visited both Amano and Comtese Therese. Lunch was had at the vineyards and we were really impressed with the selections at Sparkling Pointe. Other highlights, great pool table, Keurig coffee machine in the Great Room with chocolate biscotti to boot, newly planted vines on site, ipod docks in rooms, free internet, and discount card to local establishments. We will be back. We loved this B&B. Hopefully it won't be too booked up that we can't get a room! read more

I wish I could give this more than 5 stars... Absolutely loved it here! Ran out of the city for a nice wine country getaway and it was perfect and exactly what we needed.. We had the opportunity to stay at this awesome B&B ( Dave and Donnas home) and it is seriously gorg. The owners are so chill and we really enjoyed chatting with them. Dave is awesome and so down to earth he was so helpful in helping us figure out what to do. Our only regret is staying just for one night ! However, we will be back in the fall with another couple, plans are already in motion ;)... The cedar house has 5 bedrooms all with their own bathroom, and a few communal rooms- the living room w a pool table, the bar with a picnic style table inside and most importantly, the kitchen! At night we shared space around the fire pit with other couples and in the morning we all chowed down on some awesome breakfast together.. The whole thing was just really relaxing and I would highly recommend. Next time would bring marshmallows for the fire pit and although they offer wine at 20-25$ per bottle at the bar we bought our own from all the wineries we were at in the day time.. read more

I never write superlative reviews and assume something can improve; not this time. We were lucky to stay at Cedar House because, in short, nothing required improvement. The owners, David and Donna, provide a beautiful setting and large home that is extremely confortable. We slept in comfortable beds, played pool, and watched baseball on a large screen in the living room and one in the bedroom. David stated, "Treat it as if your home", and we did. All three days of breakfast were excellent, beautifully displayed and scrumptious. Each day, David spent time describing the food and how it was prepared. At the end of breakfast, he went around to each table, mingled, and made sure everyone had a good itinerary for the day. He took out a map and generously planned the best route, timing it perfectly allowing time to go to local restaurants. I really enjoyed watching David make sure his clients were satisfied. He was quite authentic in doing so. I have stayed at many B&B's throughout the years but this was my finest experience. read more

This review is long over due. I stayed at the Cedar House on Sound for my wedding last summer. We occupied 4 out of the 5 rooms there, and had an amazing time. The house itself was extremely beautiful on a picturesque vineyard, and each room was big, spacious, pretty (in a town & country sense) and very clean. The common room with the billiards table was a hit for my bridal party as we were waiting to get our hair and makeup done. The overall atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for..old Victorian mixed with country living. Honestly, the pictures on the website does not do the slightest justice for how amazing this place is. My wedding photographers were thrilled about the setting and our pictures came out like they belong in a magazine. Dave, the owner, was probably one of the nicest and most genuine person I've met. He hung out with my bridal party and I, telling us awesome stories about the B&B and really took care of us well. Not only was he an amazing host, he was also an amazing cook. Our breakfast was ridiculously delicious. My husband and I looked any numerous B&Bs in the area before we decided on Cedar House, and we are so glad we did. I've always had very high standards in terms on hotels due to the fact that I'm a publicist and event planner for a luxury retailer, but there was nothing I would have changed about this place. This place is a gem! I have to say, B&B's kind of scare me-- usually filled with yucky old antiques (read: old crap). They always seem outdated and a little dirty to me. Not this place. It's amazing! They built this place in June, and they have done an excellent job of creating a nice cozy, comfy atmosphere, while including all of the modern amenities. The decor is very tastefully done. There is a great balance between an "lodge feel" and an upscale modern hotel. Everything is incredibly clean and very well taken care of. They have their own wine, and give their guests a personalized wine tasting- so great! Dave and Donna are amazing hosts. Very hospitable, accommodating, and full of great recommendations. They helped us with dinner reservations, and we enjoyed a lovely dinner at Amano's. Delish! We had a nice quiet evening afterwards playing pool, tasting wine in the lounge (which Scarola wine is awesome!), and talking about life with our hosts. If you are coming to the North Fork, you should only stay at Cedar House. Dave and Donna are accommodating, genuinely friendly (super important), welcoming and honestly amazing people. Every time we stay we never want to leave. The rooms are comfortable and impeccably clean. The common area is relaxing. The lounge is great and they keep it fully stocked with local wines. The pool table in the common area is great and the in house library awesome. Our favorite place, however is the kitchen and dining area, because everyone socializes there and you feel at home. The grounds are beautiful. Oh and Dave cooks breakfast and it's always delicious. They give recommendations on where to visit, where to go wine tasting, and where to eat. Most importantly they had no problem with us bringing our son (at 4 months old and at a year old, thus far). They are truly child friendly! You would be surprised how many places are not. Spent the night at Cedar on Sound for a bachelor party getaway in the North Fork region of Long Island's east end. After a day of hopping from vineyard to vineyard, we came back to Cedar on Sound and enjoyed the rest of the night playing pool in the great room and having drinks at the bar (you can BYOB or buy their Scarola brand wine). You essentially have free reign in these areas, which provide a great atmosphere for any type of gathering. Bedrooms were very comfortable and wonderfully decorated. Breakfast served in the morning was delicious, and most important of all, the hosts are great people who make you feel right at home. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Love this place! My wife and I usually visit once a year since 2011. We went the day after our wedding to unwind. As usual the rooms were immaculate and Donna and Dave were so accommodating and friendly. We received a complimentary bottle of wine and upgrade on our room. Once again Donna and Dave have amazed me! We have stayed at the Cedar house 4 times now, and each time I am so sad to leave. This stay was a bit different because I rented out the entire house for a surprise 30th birthday for my husband with a couple of his closest friends. Dave could not have done anything else to make this weekend more perfect. His recommendations for food for catering, was spot on. He even went and picked it up for me (helping me out because I am 8.5 months pregnant). My husband was so happy about our stay there yet again, and our friends were super impressed about the rooms, and breakfast (which Dave even called me and asked what my husband would prefer for the morning). They go above and beyond EVERYTIME to make sure there guests feel like they are right at home. We love the cedar house and make sure we visit every year. We went to the Cedar House two weeks ago to celebrate my brother in law's 30th birthday. It was my first time at a bed and breakfast and I now have high expectations because of my stay here. Dave and Donna went above and beyond to make the celebration a memorable one. The entire house was immaculate, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was amazing. My fiancé planned this trip for my birthday and it couldn't have been more perfect. First of all, the place is gorgeous! Lovely decor and the room we stayed in was so beautiful. The bed is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. We had a view of the vineyards on the property. What a way to wake up! And the breakfast... outstanding! Dave is a gourmet chef and the breakfasts do not disappoint. He and his wife Donna made our stay so wonderful. As a matter of fact, we loved it so much that we've decided to have our wedding there this coming October. We couldn't think of a more perfect setting! Plan to visit this B&B. This is the cutest B&B and the owners Dave and Donna couldn't have been more hospitable. The bedrooms were very spacious and homey at the same time. They have a common room with a pool table and TV and a bar. It feels like you're staying at someones house. And Dave served a great breakfast. The owners put a lot of work and pride into the B&B and we will definitely be going back! Its also in close proximity to numerous vineyards and restaurants!
