Andrew was prompt, courteous, kind and always communicative with us. He is very responsive with communication and responded to our questions promptly and never made us feel like we were a bother. He was straightforward in pricing and expectations. Due to the crazy storms in winter 2023 things were delayed, but due to mother nature, no fault of Wells Pools. Project manager Dave was fantastic! His knowledge of the building process was invaluable. All of the crews we worked with (yard demolition/hole digging, concrete, tile, plaster) were all on time/prompt, courteous, respectful of our property and got the jobs done. Shout out to Caleb, equipment driver extraordinaire, who understood me when I panicked about things (and he has mad driving skills!). We never felt pressure from anyone- sometimes decisions take time- everyone understood. Nothing is ever perfect- weather happens, things get missed, but for me acknowledgment and fixing it is the main thing, which they did with anything we brought up. The process is fun to watch; be prepared though to have a big hole in your yard for several weeks. It's just all part of the process. We LOVE our pool. I waited a year to write this honest review to ensure that we had no issues. Many neighbors of ours who built a pool (different builder) same time and finished 6 months earlier have had major issues with leaking, concrete and tiles falling off etc and I'm happy to report we have had none. We moved here in November 2020 the height of the pandemic. That being said there were unforeseen challenges with supply, sub contractors etc. we signed contract with Andrew in December 2020. They started our dig in March 2021 and our pool was done in May 2022. It felt like forever. I think the time it took was the most frustrating part of the process. There were hiccups along the way, a few that could have been easily prevented due to human error, communication issues etc. HOWEVER Andrew and Joel did right by us and in the end stayed true to their word, compensated us fairly and worked through all of our issues. It often felt like our project was not top priority but increasing demand and the lack of resources and manpower was just simply beyond their control. Unfortunately for us it was a perfect storm of Covid related issues and also being first timers at this it was a little scary for us so that fed into a lot of our frustration. I'm happy that Andrew and Joel understood how big of investment this was for us and finished the project. They brought my vision to life and I will just advise anyone pool building to be realistic with your time line expectations and understand there are so many moving parts to the process that sometimes do not line up. All that matters is that the end product is good quality. Our family spends so much time swimming together and we have thrown pool parties every warm weekend since it's been built, so for that I'm grateful and will give it 5 stars. Wells Pools did a fantastic job designing and building our pool. We wanted a lap pool and Andrew designed a 60' pool with spa that fit in our backyard perfectly. The design process was easy, but construction was a little bit of a challenge with the wet winter we had. However, every break in the weather they were out there working on the pool and it was completed much faster than anyone else in the neighborhood. They also kept a clean job site, and provided a porta potty for their workers. Something that was very appreciated. Brian and his team did our tile and block work, turned out great. Chris and Sebastian did all of the plumbing and electrical and were great to work with. Dave and Carlos kept their eyes on the project to make sure it was moving and addressed all of my concerns. This review is long overdue, but we've had our pool for almost a full year now and can give a review of everything! First, I'd like to say we researched and compared many pool companies in our area and always chose Wells Pools, based on their experience and customer service. We knew they were busy and we may not be able to build right away, which we were okay with. We were able to meet Rex during the Sac Home & Landscape Show in Jan 2019 and were put in touch with Kim shortly after to set up a consultation. We worked with our designer Andrew to build our dream pool and spa. Andrew was very attentive to our must-haves, as well as our budget, being straight-forward about costs and offering suggestions along the way. He has an extensive knowledge about pools and made sure we understood the entire process, which eased our concerns, since we've never built a pool before! He always followed up and made revisions so we could see the full picture, which I really appreciated. Once everything was finalized, we broke ground on our pool at the end of May 2019. Wells Pools made everything very simple for us. Kim was the best, keeping us informed of when construction was scheduled to occur. We are not used to construction, so having to be flexible when contractors would be available was something we had to adapt to. But Kim kept in touch regularly, and Andrew, Rex, or Brian (our construction manager) often visited our home to make sure everything was moving accordingly, and reviewed everything prior to inspections. We finished construction at the end of July 2019 and have been very happy with our pool and spa since then. While we are still working on fixing one ongoing issue with our spa spillway, Kim has been helpful relaying messages to the appropriate people so we can hopefully get it fixed soon once the COVID-19 situation gets better. My pool was built in 30 days!!!! The universe aligned and our project was the fastest they've ever had a pool built, according to my guy Dave! We even went on a week long vacation during the build and were hardly needed! I cannot say enough about the customer service and absolute amazing before, during and after service for our pool. Dave was our salesman, project manager and pool school teacher. The pricing, quality product and cheat sheet for our pool building stages was so thorough and detailed. The cheat sheet included pics of each part of the process, general info on what happens during that phase and when you should expect to make your phase payment. We also had our fence replaced and a new french door put in. Meaning we had to coordinate with three separate contractors ourselves during the same time frame. Dave was invaluable to making this happen! We got other bids with slightly lower pricing, but Wells Pools was willing to negotiate and get us a really competitive bid. So with this quick a build (not normal - expect 3 months from start to finish), knowledgeable staff to ensure we got the most cost effective, but aesthetic pool and decking AND a store with decorating professionals who help you choose tile and colors that fit you best. He was very honest about what we needed and what was worth spending more money on. His subcontractors that he referred us to also did great work. We had low expectations on our timeline because we built a house at the beginning of the pandemic and there were massive headaches and delays. We hired Wells Pools to design and build a pool at our new home in the spring of 2022 after hearing they were the best pool builder in the Sacramento area. Our quest for an accomplished can-do contractor came to fruition with Joel Wells. His in-depth design process and his ability to grasp our vision for a "zen-like lap pool" combined with his talent to make a unique pool fit a tiny space was the deciding factor. He was able to understand and interpret our vision and make a dream come to life. This was a challenging build due to the size constraints, structural limitations and very stringent city building department requirements. We decided to put in a pool and wells pools was recommended to us by a neighbor that had moved to folsom. We had our sales guy, Bobby come to our house after 6pm, many times to go over the designs and details. Computer generated video of our back yard with the new Pool designed, and even had my bbq in it, very precise and professional. Bobby was great, friendly, and always responsive to our questions at all days and hours. Being in sales myself, he is a great dedicated sales pro. This was 6 months ahead of the dig date start! Fast forward to the dig date. The excavation crew showed up and were simply impressive. Precise, professional and obvious that they could be trusted. The same goes for the steel, tile, gunite, electrical, and plumbing crews. All of the workers looked like they liked their job and the company they work for. All of the foremen had good communication skills and answered all of our questions, as well as left us saying "enjoy your new pool" after their phase of the project was completed. YIKES! OMG! Steer clear very unprofessional. We had a pool bid for our house and Joel came out first to do the bid and then NO contact from Wells for months and then months later suddenly without warning some strange dude appeared at our door saying he was there to measure from Wells I laughed but held it in because it was a strange dude LOL! Totally unprofessional and by far the worst experience we had with pool contractor in the past 10 years. A person doesn't have to take my word for it just give them a call request a bid and enjoy the ride. I have great sense of humor so this sort of nonsense I laugh about. I met with both Kim and Rex during the Auburn home show. They have very impressive pools, and many of their designs look great. I was pleased enough that I decided to forgo a previously selected contractor, and instead have Wells install a new pump and perform a saltwater conversion. I emailed them a few days after the show, but got no response. I followed up, and finally received a response. (First clue) My appointment was set up for the next week. After taking off work early, I got to the house and waited for the afternoon appointment. Luckily I glanced at my phone and noticed I had gotten an email, it was Wells Pools notifying me that the appointment was canceled, and they would not be coming out. Reason stated 'we are too busy' and overbooked. In a subsequent email they did apologize, and mentioned they had a person they could recommend to come in an do the job. That's not acceptable, nor does it reflect well on the person they are recommending. I had no experience with that person, nor is it appropriate to try and substitute another contractor for a job/time that had already been lined up. What would have made sense is to NOT make an appointment with me and suggest the other contractor at that time. This was very disappointing. My job may have not been the largest, but I had cash on hand. I wouldn't have even bothered to write this review had they simply been up front a week ago and said that they could just not book another appointment due to pre-exisiting jobs. But to go up to the late afternoon of the appointment and cancel by email? Not even a phone call? I would like to say that my case is an isolated incident. But reading the other reviews it is clear that while they may do quality work, and impress some clients they lack organization and follow through with others. They are very nice people, but the inability to properly manage appointments needs to be worked out. ******************************************************** Edited to add (6/30/2014) There appears to have been a serious disconnect between myself and Wells Pool. It was my impression based on my emails (that I've retained and reviewed after the owners comments) that I was pretty clear that I wanted them (Wells) to come out and do the job. Regardless of the scope of the job, it is still not appropriate to cancel a job that day, by email w/out so much as a call. As stated in my earlier review, the work they do is high quality. When we finally made the huge decision to put in a pool, we acquired a couple of bids. We landed on Wells Pools first and foremost because of the design aesthetic. Our consultant, Joel, really listened when we talked about what we wanted. His concept was totally in keeping with our desires, which meant the pool and hardscape were to look like they fit with the style of our home and natural landscape. Secondarily, we learned that the equipment Wells uses is industry best and, after reading several reviews, we knew the final product would be top notch (and they offered a strong warranty). Frankly, after learning all of this, we were surprised that the final cost was in the same ballpark as others--we expected we'd be paying a lot more to sign with Wells! That said, though through no fault of Wells, our build took over 5 months! We had expected to be swimming by the end of July, but we didn't get the keys to the pool until December. We had hangups with the city and utility companies that, prior to digging the hole, would not have been known (based on our city permitting process). Once we worked out a solution to the issue (which added several more thousand dollars to the project--yes, I'm looking at you, AT&T), the work started again and then it sailed until completion. Although we won't be able to swim until spring, I'm thoroughly enjoying simply looking at the finished product--especially after landscape and lighting were installed. We were looking at a dirt pit for almost 4 months, and so anything would be better than that...Still, there's no denying that it's gorgeous during the day and magical at night. Because Wells is small and family run, they take pride in their work. Were we to do it all over again, I would choose Wells Pools. read more

We Love our Pool! Joel was our first point of contact with Wells Pools. Right away we had a comfort level with Joel and were very pleased with his knowledge and ideas. I almost didn't go with Wells after reading these reviews, but I am so happy that I went with my gut. From the beginning of the process to they end, I had nothing but constant communication. I always knew what was happening and they moved at lightning speed. Was beyond my expectations. Nick F. came out and designed a beautiful pool for us. He listened to our ideas and made several adjustments until it was exactly right. He was very detailed and was onsite daily to make sure that the design was carried out flawlessly. This is a family owned operation and all of their subs and employees were quality. We had notched rock set in and jump rocks as well as a waterfall. I didn't want a waterfall mountain but something subtle that was more natural looking and it's exactly what I got. Each rock was handpicked and I couldn't be happier. I spoke with owners Kim and Rex quite often and they were willing to work with me and never hesitated to comply with minor changes. We met with 2 companies, Wells and Geremia. They both came back with very similar designs, but Wells had a much better price and a bit more added into the package. We also decided we wanted salt water, which Geremia was not offering. Everyone we dealt with at Wells was awesome. Joel, Rex and Kim were all amazing. Once the project started (on the exact day they told us) everything was super easy. Communication was excellent, timing was perfectly managed and we are left with the most amazing backyard!!!! I expected a few hiccups or missteps just because of the scale of this project, but nope, we had zero!!! We built a huge pool, oversized hot tub, enormous deck and outdoor kitchen.
