i just had my shoulder replaced 3 weeks ago and can not say enough about Dr Rogers and his office staff. His med assistant Alexis bent over backwards to get me ready for surgery and she handled Medicare like a pro. Things were even more topnotch when we got there the day of my surgery. Security very kindly escorted us to the correct hallway as we got there a bit early and the front was not open yet. And the nurses in pre-op were very thorough and moved me right along. The nurse in the OR made me feel very comfortable. Once i got to the floor, the nurses were amazing as well. Once the nerve block wore off at about 2 am I turned in to a whiney brat. They very patiently worked with me to get my pain under control. The nurses were amazing in how they all worked together. And tbh eating was not high on my priority list but i knew I had to. TLDR-They let my dad die over gross negligence My dad, a veteran, visited Wellspan Chambersburg in March of 2026 after I insisted that he go in, as he exhibited all the classic signs of infection that I was concerned would progress to a bone infection (osteomyelitis). He was an uncontrolled diabetic with an A1C greater than 10, had an open wound on his foot that wouldn't heal, which was turning black, doubled in size over a few days, and he had pain that was greater than what that small wound would account for. My father's wife had also recently left him, and he wasn't taking care of himself, so he had an odor, which I believe contributed to Wellspan's ED blowing him off. When he arrived at Wellspan, they did an X-ray of his foot without doing an infection workup (which is the height of incompetence, diabetic foot wound 101). They looked at the image and told him to go home because he had a broken toe (osteomyelitis presents as a fracture on X-ray; you CANNOT differentiate the two with plain film). He went home, 10 days later, he was found dead in his home, with a completely black and necrotic toe. Anybody want to guess the cause, because for some reason Wellspan couldn't figure it out. I am not local, but was able to diagnose him over the phone without having access to any further diagnostic workup. Wellspan is fortunate that I am not litigious in nature, but as an acute care nurse practitioner myself, I am astounded by Wellspan ED's failure in a basic and straightforward diagnosis that led to a man's death. read more

I visited the WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital ER (walk-in) with severe symptoms from testicular torsion and two inguinal hernias. After waiting at least 30 minutes just to be seen, the staff dismissed my concerns and attributed my lower stomach & groin pains to indigestion or heartburn. They brushed it off like it was nothing serious. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The wait times for walk-ins need major improvement, and the triage process failed to recognize a genuine emergency. This delay and misdiagnosis could have led to much worse outcomes. Someone should really report this to the Department of Health, and if not I will; People seek medical advice/care and still get no answers. read more

I stayed here overnight. The food service is good and the food service employees were courteous. The Meals were delicious considering one is at a hospital. The nurses and doctors are good and they provide great care. The emergency room and my private room were clean. This hospital had a recent expansion to accommodate the growing population in Chambersburg. read more

My husband was admitted by ambulance to the ER. He had severe chest pains, couldn't breathe, couldn't speak, and was turning blue on his hands and lips. His vitals were horrible and he has a history of heart issues and currently has a lung issue that is currently trying to be diagnosed. The nurses and doctors proceeded to treat him like he was crazy and lying about his pain level. They "diagnosed" him with heartburn and indigestion and said we could leave. Not sure where these people got their medical degrees, but I'm pretty sure indigestion doesn't cause you to turn blue and collapse on the floor. Went in for a voluntary pschy eval was told 72 hours and yo;'ll see a doctor every day.,.... their entire regiment of activities consisted of coloring books or walking an 80' hall with pictures of the staff. Also the check on you every 15 minutes all night long so if you are a light sleeper or suffer from panic attacks at night expect to get no sleep. You're regular anxiety meds will be withheld and you are offered wellbutrin which does shit for my anxiety and noting for insomnia in me. After my 72 hours were up I was ready to get the hell out of there but ther staff informed me that it was 72 hours after the doctor released you, which was not what the airhead that read all of the intake forms said. I had seen the docor for the first time on my 4th? day in there so.... yeah i got to be held involuntarily on a voluntary hold and was billed for 3 days of a hospital stay i did not consent to. speeaking of the dotor on the pshyc ward dude just gives 0 fucks about his job. I was in there for a week, not a big wing maybe 16 paitients in total. I say him foer a total of 90seconds...maybe 2 minutes as well. Additionally the billing department is run by a bunch or crayon eaters. ER charges for services not aggress too or rendered. then when you question the accounting mistake they send you information a healthcare assistance plan. I've told them several times i have the money and do not need payment assistance but refuse to pay for services not agreed to or rendered. Just drive up to UPMC in carlise they have their shit together... In the middle of all this billling department also handed over to a collections agency of which i was not given the name so now i have two of these preditory companies to deal with... read more

I would definitely go somewhere other than WellSpan Chambersburg. I had surgery and the surgery team and recovery staff were pretty good. The nightmare began when I was transferred to my hospital room. The equipment is antiquated, the room is dirty, one nurse in particular is a busybody and is inserting herself in decisions she has no part in. I have had to fight to get the medications I need. Many times I miss my regular dosing schedule and as a result, suffer needlessly. I have been in the same bedding and gown for 5 days. I suffered skin abrasions during the surgery and all of the abrasions went untreated despite my asking for treatment. The "Nutrition" is a joke. Most meals have very little if any protein. I asked for more protein in my diet since I am pre-diabetic and all I get are carbs and sugar. Steer clear of this train wreck of a hospital! read more

Chambersburg hospital is by far worst hospital we've been to ever...My mom has been ill all year and in need of a transplant...while waiting for transplant she has had many issues with breathing and fluid gathering around her lungs. We have had 4 visits in the last few months and every stay there has been at least one nurse with a nasty attitude . Our current stay i caught the nurse in the hallway talking to other nurses making fun of my mom. On two occasions when the nurse issues were brought up to the floor manager....the managers never apologized or acted sympathetic to the situation. went to the ER bc I thought I was having seizures related to liver concerns. I gave them too much background info on myself, and self identified as an autistic adult. the hospital quickly changed their tune and behaved in a secretive manner once my husband and I attempted to report a previous physician for stereotyping and 'quality of care' concerns. the nurse handling my IV port when asked to move it's location to another arm proceeded to move the needle all around the inside of my arm, in the third attempt which he didn't need for the 1st location, and left a 3in x 5in bruise that has subsequently left visible, permanent bruising and nerve pain. McDermont and his "team" that night stuffed a patient into an "overflow" room that was unattended, the white board never utilized, and I was told to use the bathroom as needed even after being told I was a fall risk (and no wrist band provided after being told I was.) This is the 3rd time I've been subjected to poor care from this nightmare of a 'medical facility' and it did not stop there. The physicians and nurses assigned to my 'care' was that of a 90's (mental health) institution. Even featured a psych visit for a patient that didn't need it because the staff is wholly untrained on how to treat disabled and autistic patients. What a shock to me, however it wasn't a shock seeing as they support outdated research, treatment(s) and language when it comes to their knowledge base on autism. This hospital will kill you and work with every other team member they know, both from the ER and out to make sure you're manipulated into believing they "care." Was here a few days ago. I couldn't stand and barely walk on my own I was so sick. I was having dizziness , chest tightness, I asked to lay down and they told me they had no place and that they were "moving slow" I was forced to lay on the waiting room floor while having tremors while they took people back with a twisted ankle and a sprained wrist. BEWARE OF WELLSPAN FACILITIES. I ended up leaving to end up going to another Wellspan run circus but at least I got treated which required a two day admission to the hospital. 1st off when you first go in your medical info is supposed to be confidential they very loudly ask what you are there for in front of the whole waiting room, so for certain people in situations they don't want broadcasted to the whole waiting room makes you not even want to go in they just did this recently with one of my kids she was so embarrassed because she is private in general. When I had both my kids here the first time they forgot to feed me and the 2nd had the wrong name and birthdate attached to the carrier they kept my child in . I have been seen here and the doctors and staff were nice that's what the 1 star Is for but when u go in they start ruling out the very worst even if it's not a big emergency problem and you are telling them this. So then your bill is an arm and a leg over all these test they ran that you told them you didn't need or wasn't sure what that test had to do with the reason I came and when I sled the nurse she said oh we just like to start from the very worst and rule it all out when I knew exactly what the problem was. read more

Love: no waiting at ER on Mother's Day. Brought wife in with acute gallbladder pain/attack. Immediate room placement, Dr visit, IV, ultrasound. ER Empty. Disappointing: waiting hours following ultrasound to determine if need surgery or other treatment. Were originally told "45 minutes" Update. After 2 hrs, asked nurse who surprisingly said we needed a cat scan. Happened immediately after inquiring. An hour after cat scan, nurse said results are in but waiting on doctor to get to our chart. Watch doctor walk past room multiple times. The needless waiting is frustrating, especially for someone with an anxiety disorder. Update. Now 12:30pm. Doctor has not visited my wife since we came in at 9am. Doctor Pollonski, there is no need for this wait. I can see there is almost no activity in the ER. Dropping to 2 stars for today. Update: 1:10pm. Doctor finally visits. Took literally 2 minutes to update and disclose care plan. Great job discovering that it was Kidney stone, not gallbladder. Getting discharged soon with follow up specialist instructions. Great work, no excuse for the wait time. To be clear, all staff, nurses, testing techs, were all highly efficient and performed within minutes of orders. The only excessive waiting was directly due to the doctor. However, the doctor was very good in diagnosis and care plan. Back to 3 stars Love: BIg Oak cafe and main entrance. Self serve and scanner check out that I could use Apple Pay. I'm writing about the Carousel Cafe in the Main Entrance Lobby. Every time I'm at the Hospital I eat there. They have great breakfast food that's served all day. I never go out for meals. Yesterday a got sausage, egg, cheese on a bagel with home fries and it was scrumptious! I normally get breakfast sandwiches when I come here. Also , they have my favorite drinks on tap. Diet Mountain Dew and Sobe Pomegranate Life Water. I haven't had lunch items yet but I'm sure they're awesome. I recommend eating here very much! I was incredibly disappointed and frustrated with this hospital system. My father had been passing out and ended up in the hospital twice in a two month period. During his last visit he was admitted on a Sunday and pushed to be discharged on the following Monday. There was absolutely no one willing to get to the root of the problem with him passing out. My father was given no restrictions, including specifically being asked if he was able to drive, he was told yes he can drive. Two days later he passed out while driving, took out a telephone pole and flipped his car. Chambersburg Hospital refused to see him, so he was taken to Holy Spirit Hospital where every doctor was working towards one goal, discovering the root of the problem, not just adding another medication and follow up with an outside doctor. I will never allow any family member to ever be seen at the Chambersburg Hospital again. read more

I am currently in chambersburg hospital under observation for some issues. I came into the ER on Friday night and the staff was excellent and very attentive. When I was transferred upstairs I had a nurse Jenn that I cannot day enough good things about. She was so kind and attentive and made me feel not as scared. The Nursing assistant Nathan was also just excellent with me. I had Jenn and Nathan for two nights and then Jenn and Job. Job was also so kind and helpful. During the day I had Peggy. Peggy helped me so much! I cannot day enough good things about the care I am receiving. I know that a lot of what was done was that persons job....however they all did their jobs with kindness and empathy. I have never received such good care at a hospital as I have here. Thank you for the past 2 years of misdiagnosis. Thank you for charging Medicare tons of money and I mean tons of money for your poor choices of " needed" test only to have no conclusions. Thanks for the MRI's saying I had " many kidney stones " when a second MRI showed nothing. Another 8 grand to your coffers. Two weeks in your hospital with one week in ICU to no conclusions after multiple test. Then they wonder why insurance is so costly. This drove me away to another facility 75 miles away with one simple office visit found the issue which was life threatening and required major surgery. They saved my life. In the real world if I cant repair the issue or even find the issue I DONT GET PAID! Eventually this will catch up and soon catch on. So maybe then these fruitless test will miraculously not be needed to find a simple diagnosis. read more

I was in the mental health unit.. understaffed, miserable doctors- the food was good room clean.. the occupational therapist- Mark; was confrontational, rude, Set people back, and like to make women cry... but I Kept copious notes... times, dates and names- for my letter to to Pa Department of Health..... these clowns almost discharged me without my meds, never told me my ride was there to take me home... a complete shitshow... they almost killed me by giving me blood pressure meds after dialysis .... My daughter has been in Chambersburg hospital for the last 6 days. She has had some amazing care givers. However, last night she had an RN named Becky, who was negligent and had a horrible attitude. When my daughter got nauseated and grabbed the nearest thing, the wastebasket, Becky reprimanded her for not using her basin. She allowed her to sit on the edge of her bed, IVs in both arms, waiting 20 minutes for help to the bathroom. Today the CNA assisted her to the bathroom, left her there...... Meanwhile my daughter had a seizure, fell and hit her head. So who gets to take responsibility for this? The RN? The CNA? Not really sure, but you'd better believe someone is going to take responsibility ! read more

I was in the hospital from 3/6/18 to 3/30/18. I had a stroke. I was on the 4th floor. I could not have received better care anyplace else. The nursing staff was excellent. They were caring , very respectful and treated me with such kindness. The rehab staff ( PT and OT) are amazing. I would not have improved and thrived with out their care and knowledge. I would give them 5 stars for all their concern and care they show their patients. I also want to thank the dietary staff. They were all very professional and kind. They always brightened my day. Personally, I've never had any issues with Chambersburg hospital. The wait to be seen has a few times been lengthy but that's most hospitals. Most of the negative replies here are what I call " fly by night patients " because they constantly go to the hospital for every thing!!! My dad has been in the hospital for 5 days now. When I went over to see him 3 days later he had a RN named Fawn, very rude women. If she hates her job or if taking care of patients is a inconvenience to her then she needs to find a new job! She had poor attitude when a different family member asked her to give them an update on what was going on with my dad. Her response was " write ur questions down so you don't forget them because I already told another family member." Well I'm sorry that it made her get her butt off of the chair. They never changed bedsheets in 3 days so we took them off and remade bed with fresh sheets. They never tried 2 get him up to walk which he was capable of walking , gave him a urinal for his bedside cuz to lazy to come in and unhook the Iv so he could use the toilet by himself. Some of the employees were very nice, but Fawn had an attitude n wanted 2 blink her prissy eyes along with rolling them. My 81 year old mother was taken to the Cburg ER on Wed morning. Her family dr had taken her off fentanyl patch (which she wore on her back for a herniated disc) COLD TURKEY & she was having withdrawl symptoms...no sleep..nausea..chills..skin crawling..etc. We knew at this time that her right side carotid was blocked & were to be referred to a vascular surgeon before all this began. I told the er doctors all this information. These idiots gave her klonopin & Ativan & sent her home. Very next morning she had a ministroke & was taken back by ambulance. This was Thursday morning. Hospitalist wanted to send her home & only after I disagreed strongly did he find a reason to keep her for observation. That evening she had another TIA. They decided to keep her until Monday since the "surgeon" was out. Sunday night she had yet another TIA...only to have the "surgeon", Dr Guthrie , walk into the room to tell me he was sending her home for 4-6 weeks until her blood is thin enough. When I told him I needed a second opinion, his reply was"Good then you don't need me" & he left the room. Wow. After meeting with three different hospitalists & the head of neurology who ALL AGREED they should send her home, I had her transferred to Hershey against their recommendations.. Hershey was APPALLED at what these people had told us & did carotid surgery the very next day which saved her life. Now I have never been to medical school yet I knew SOMETHING had to be done quickly before she had the big stroke that killed her! These DOCTORS didn't know that???? How is that possible?? How is that even remotely possible?? They basically would have let my mom die right there in front of them. I wouldn't let Guthrie operate on my dog...period. Beware people....ALWAYS go with your gut.This place & it's "doctors" will kill you read more
