TLDR-They let my dad die over gross negligence…read more My dad, a veteran, visited Wellspan Chambersburg in March of 2026 after I insisted that he go in, as he exhibited all the classic signs of infection that I was concerned would progress to a bone infection (osteomyelitis). He was an uncontrolled diabetic with an A1C greater than 10, had an open wound on his foot that wouldn't heal, which was turning black, doubled in size over a few days, and he had pain that was greater than what that small wound would account for. My father's wife had also recently left him, and he wasn't taking care of himself, so he had an odor, which I believe contributed to Wellspan's ED blowing him off. When he arrived at Wellspan, they did an X-ray of his foot without doing an infection workup (which is the height of incompetence, diabetic foot wound 101). They looked at the image and told him to go home because he had a broken toe (osteomyelitis presents as a fracture on X-ray; you CANNOT differentiate the two with plain film). He went home, 10 days later, he was found dead in his home, with a completely black and necrotic toe. Anybody want to guess the cause, because for some reason Wellspan couldn't figure it out. I am not local, but was able to diagnose him over the phone without having access to any further diagnostic workup. Wellspan is fortunate that I am not litigious in nature, but as an acute care nurse practitioner myself, I am astounded by Wellspan ED's failure in a basic and straightforward diagnosis that led to a man's death.

After waiting at least 30 minutes just to be seen, the staff dismissed my concerns and attributed my lower stomach & groin pains to indigestion or heartburn. They brushed it off like it was nothing serious. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The wait times for walk-ins need major improvement, and the triage process failed to recognize a genuine emergency. This delay and misdiagnosis could have led to much worse outcomes. Someone should really report this to the Department of Health, and if not I will; People seek medical advice/care and still get no answers.

My last doctor was randomly assigned to me based on our mutual schedules. He lectured me about my sexual habits when I visited for a sleep problem. He accused me of being addicted to pain killers on the next visit, then acknowledged that I had no access to pain killers. (He was fired. Fancy that.) Sure, Keystone can get you in and out; but they can't and don't offer much by way of personal or preventative care. If you don't have insurance, mention it when you get to the billing counter. Keystone offers a discount for the uninsured. Also, if you need to see a doctor URGENTLY but not ER URGENTLY, call at 7:30a when they open and request a same-day. Ask nicely, and the receptionist will probably take pity and give you an appointment. But only if you are nice. (I'm serious.)

We have had 4 visits in the last few months and every stay there has been at least one nurse with a nasty attitude . Our current stay i caught the nurse in the hallway talking to other nurses making fun of my mom. On two occasions when the nurse issues were brought up to the floor manager....the managers never apologized or acted sympathetic to the situation. First visit: Went to their emergency room and waited 2 hours to get admitted, finally get in there…read moreand I get stuck in a hallway bed where I wait another 30 min before I see a "dr", they wheeled me down the hall 30 ft and asked me questions and then give me motherly advice and send me on my way without doing one test on me. And sent me a $1000 bill! Long story short, I went to another hospital and saw a neurologist to find out I was having multiple seizures a day! chambersburg hospital thought that I was fine though.. 2nd visit: i had lots of side effects on the anti seizure meds i was put on, so i went here for a change of meds since my neurologist was on vacation, they gave me different seizure meds and sent me on my way. 3rd visit: 5 days later i was still having the same seizure and the new seizure meds they gave me just gave me side effect and didn't help at all so i went back to the er, to possibly get different meds because my neurologist was on vacation, still. I was in the hospital for 5 hours, i finally got a room (a chair in a hall way) where i finally got to talk to a "dr" who i asked to switch my meds to something that might actually work, he did not, he said he would refer me to wellspan neurology and that he talked to a neurologist there, i was ordered to call them first thing in the morning because he gave me a referral and set up an appointment. The following day i call wellspan twice, no referral given.. i called chambersburg to see if it was still being processed, they had to call me back.. 5 hours later i get a call and they tell me that they don't do referrals. So they litterally kept me there for 5 hours and did nothing for me but lie. WORST HOSPITAL I'VE EVER BEEN TO, WORTHLESS HOSPITAL, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME HERE.

The staff here are extremely incompetent. I went to get blood work done six months ago, and called…read moreahead giving them my insurance information, twice, over the phone. When I arrived on location, I verified the information at the desk with the secretary or office assistant. The women took a copy of my insurance card and verified my appointment, and the fact that I called ahead. Now, six months later, I am receiving calls from a debt collection agency for 1,300 dollars, and the hospital is claiming that I didn't have my insurance cards. As you can tell I am very frustrated with the below amateur level competence of staff.
