While I never wanted to be here. I am so grateful for the amazing staff. We were in the ICU daily for several hours daily for five days. The care that was extended by everyone doctor, nurse, respiratory therapist, social worker and later chaplain was nothing short of amazing. The new cafeteria was a hit. I had some delicious soup and it was much needed as hospitals are generally cold. The honor walk that I've seen online for strangers was a totally different experience being a part of. It was surreal and took my breath away. I will never ever ever forget the kindness shown to my family! Ever! If I could give them 0 stars I would! I was experiencing hemmorage due to a miscarriage and also very lightheaded. They discharged me even though I told them that and they saw it for themselves. I couldn't even stand up without feeling like I was gonna pass out and also bleeding through my pad. They did not care. They made me stand up and leave. I'm very angry with how I was treated. Although when u arrived the place was jam packed in both waiting rooms. I got checked in at about 8:30pm waited patiently until I was on a time crunch for preventative care window of timing, I expressed this to them and they made sure I was seen well before the crunch time was over, and went above an beyond to listen to my needs as I was there for 2 totally different reasons. Making sure both of my reasons were well understood and got the care I needed. I may have been in there for nearly 8 hours BUTTTTT I left with a weight off my shoulders the prescriptions I needed to care for my needs. My family and I have made countless trips to this ER through the years. Every time we have received great care. Yes, there has been time when I waited seven hours to be transferred to a room but they did their best. On a Sunday afternoon my husband went in to ER because of chest pains. He got in immediately and when I arrived they let me in to be with him. The people at the reception area were nice and after showing my ID, I was directed to his examination room. Nurses and the attending doctor all were courteous and friendly, and explained what they were doing and why. We really don't have any complaints, except one. The coffee machine in the hallway (that was meant for visitors) was very complicated to operate. I felt like I needed a technical degree to make a simple cup of coffee or tea. Once I got it, it was good. Parking is very easily accessible. They also have upgraded the security at the entrance. You do have to go through a metal detection and pass by a security guard. Two months ago, my grandmother was misdiagnosed at Wellstar Kennestone ER when she presented with classic stroke symptoms. Despite our insistence, the ER team claimed it was not a stroke. Only later did follow-up with specialists confirm what we already suspected -- it was in fact a stroke. This catastrophic error has left her with ongoing health issues that could have been minimized if Wellstar had done their job properly. Fast forward to our most recent visit, and the experience was just as appalling. After arriving with severe facial swelling, burning pain, and possible neurological involvement, we were subjected to a 6-hour wait for a 5-minute CT scan. The results came back in 30 minutes and -- without meaningful discussion or explanation -- my grandmother was immediately discharged, still in pain and without answers. The staff attitude was dismissive and unsavory, from nurses who brushed off concerns to what appeared to be a resident or new physician who showed no compassion or urgency. When we raised reasonable concerns about her condition and the ER visit itself, the doctor shrugged and told us to "ask ENT" -- despite the fact that ENT themselves had referred us to the ER in the first place. The lack of coordination between departments is staggering. Worse still, when asked if the pain medications they prescribed were safe to take alongside her current regimen (which includes critical stroke-prevention drugs like Plavix), the doctors admitted they "didn't know." That level of recklessness is terrifying in a hospital setting. To make matters worse, I've had Wellstar employees themselves tell me that Georgia's Wellstar facilities are among the worst in the country. From what we've endured, I believe it. The systemic problems here -- misdiagnoses, outrageous wait times, lack of communication, unsafe prescribing practices, and a culture of indifference -- put patients' lives at risk daily. Wellstar Kennestone ER is not just failing at healthcare -- it's failing at basic human decency. Families deserve better. Patients deserve better. I woke up to a nose bleed that lasted over half and hour which is considered severe and with low blood pressure and clotting. I walked in to the first waiting room with what looks like about 150 people waiting. I waited 2 hours just be sent to another waiting room. I've been here for 3 hours with no sign of doctors or any type or care what so ever. A Caucasian female with no visible wounds or pain walked into the second waiting room and was seen within 2 minutes. It's not a coincidence. This happened many times. She was even seen before a young male throwing up and crying in excruciating pain. I can't leave because it was suggested by ambulance to go to the ER and I don't want to risk not knowing if something is wrong. NEVER COME HERE!! read more

Basics: 1. Staff is incompetent. 2. Staff doesn't know policy on copays or when you will or won't be charged. We waited 6 hours to be seen. We were lucky the cut didn't start healing on it's own. The stitches were not put in well. There were multiple stitches that were not crossing to both sides of the wound and a large gap in the middle where an infection started. We've been told not to go to Wellstar, but I thought that was just someone else's bad experience. I was wrong. Wellstar is not acceptable. We were told that if we return to the ER to have the stitches removed that we would not have a copay, but that is totally ridiculous and wrong to someone that needs the ER. We asked about that, and she said if you go to another Wellstar facility, there would not be a charge either. We were told at the Wellstar urgent care that there would not be a charge fro the stitches removal. So we made sure it was confirmed. Then we were charged for the stitches removal. We spent hours appealing and talking to people on the phone that couldn't help us. We ended up paying for the charge. Don't go to Wellstar. read more

Hospitals can't control the number of patients that flood into their ER during a severe respiratory illness season, but they can control the quality of service they expect from their staff. Kudos to everyone on duty last night for their efficiency and for maintaining their professionalism. Of special note, Nurse Luther in the ER treatment area when out of his way to keep us informed of when we might get a room and even moved us to our room himself when apparently it would be a while before anyone else would be available. read more

Although you see a lot of bad reviews, mine was as pleasant as an ER visit could get. I came in afraid I had gallstones and they took me immediately back. All my nurses were very considerate and comforting since my brother had passed away from gallstones not too long ago. Even though I declined a lot of treatment because of cost purposes, they were very supportive. read more

I have neurological diseases from hitting my head while I was pregnant. I have a neurologist from Wellstar Kennestone. I have a diagnosis by nerve conductor test and years of them. My Myasthenia Gravis will be evident in the attached photo. I work with the State of Georgia Composite Medical Board and Washington DC. I have attached the issues pertaining to mental health professionals who have their own personal stake in false diagnosis. I was denied what is proven by 17 different doctors. I am only affected in my arms and lungs. I have been denied health care for chronic health issues since 2014. The ER needs to stop hurting the innocent for their friends. If my wheelchair bothers you, stop judging. I have also been diagnosed by Grady Neuroscience and Mayo Clinic and Harvard graduates best. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Please read. ER Front was the worse experience and worse treatment I have ever had with a so called caregiver/medical person. Unprofessional, judgmental, rude, uncaring. She needs to reevaluate her career choices. Hateful human being. I have Vasovagal syncope. My blood pressure drops rapidly . Triggered with stress, illness, pain. I kept telling her this. I couldn't really stand or sit up. I was vomiting, and I couldn't control other bodily functions. She was so harsh and totally disregarding. They even threatened to call security when I actually laid on the floor to keep from passing out because they kept insisting that I stand or sit up, completely ignoring what I had told them. Finally after hours and hours of waiting, they started to take me somewhere I am not even sure, but again, they were forcing me to sit up. Only then, when I actually blacked out, did they finally check my blood pressure and take it seriously at all. I have no doubt in my mind that woman in the front had jumped to some kind of conclusion that I was fat, and vomiting and unworthy of respect. That is just how's he treated me. The Doctor once I was inside was great. However, my treatment from the front was nothing less than humiliating, dehumanizing, and disregarding. That in addition is not the first time I was treated badly. In 2021, I had gone in with severe ear pain and pain in th side of my face. The entire time, they treated me like they were disappointed I didn't have covid. To the extent the er doctor at that time told me my condition was not 'emergent enough ' to warrant coming into the er. One week later at Northside Cherokee, I was diagnosed with Trigeminal neuralgia. Which is a nerve condition that lead to me having an inner cranial decompressing surgery, considered brain surgery . All of the nerves on my brain stem, except 1, was touching a blood vessel in my head. The only difference between the disregarded treatment in Kennestone v/s the diagnosis I got from Northside is that the er doctor at Northside listened to me and took me seriously rather that judging me for being a fat older woman. Absolutely never again to Kennestone ER. There are even more I could say, but those are not my stories to tell. read more

Went there with a broken finger to the emergency room. They took my blood pressure, took an X-ray and gave me a pain killer shot and then charged me nearly $3000!!!!! When I asked for the breakdown of the bill they broke it down into 3 big chunks Emergency room over $2000 X-ray over $400 Painkiller injection over $200 I asked for a further breakdown as those figures as they did not make sense. One word. Nightmare. I never would have believed that an emergency room experience in Georgia could be this bad. My husband went in the ambulance so managed to be seen way before most people. He was put in the hallway because there were no rooms available. I waited to see him in the waiting room and had full view of all of the people in various amounts of pain and sickness waiting to be seen- not one of them went in during the several hours I was waiting. My husband and I left 20 hours later (yes, you read that right- twenty hours). My husband asked for a piece of toast- they said they would bring him something, but never came back. They were moving at such a slow pace that we had to wait several hours in between visits by a doctor (definitely no rushing around like on tv). I will say that everyone working there was very, very nice- but that doesn't make up for the mayhem. I took him home before they were done with everything they wanted to do- I think we would have been there for a week. We just couldn't do it anymore- my husband had no sleep and no food. No real answers. For the amount of money this hospital seems to have as they build a small city in Marietta, it feels a lot more like a third-world country in there. My husband was profusely vomiting, and had horrible GI symptoms, stomach and intestinal cramping. Shiela was AMAZING and got him admitted right away as he was so dehydrated he was placed into a wheelchair for fear of passing out. Everyone was wonderful, from check in to discharge. In and out with fluids, injections, meds called in to our pharmacy, and out within 3 hours. Thank you to everyone for the care, and kindness. read more

No one likes to go to the emergency room. Especially at night. Especially with a child. My experience was as good as it can be. Yes it took 5 hours but it's an emergency room. If we were in danger of imminent death we would have been seen sooner. Our doctors in the Pediatrics area, Dr Baxter and Dr Cheng we're great. They kept us informed throughout and explained what they were doing and why. And the nurses! Christy and Anna were phenomenal. They were able to get an iv in with no drama! A major accomplishment. Told to run to the closest emergency room because I could lose my eye sight. It's been four hours eye pain is a 10 and sitting in a Hospital waiting room for 4 hours along with 34 other people and no doctor in sight. I'm not sure why they have all these new buildings if they can't meet the needs of the people that come to the hospital with emergency issues. I didn't leave a review last time I was here, but I'll give a combined review for both visits. Came here about 4 months ago as a STAT referral for possible Pulmonary Embolism. It was 4 hours before they even took me to see a doctor. STAT means I'm at risk of possible death and need to be seen immediately. I personally would never come back here for any emergency after that. Fast forward to today, and my girlfriend is having intermittent chest pain for the last few days. Tell me why somebody with left chest pain near the heart is STILL sitting in the lobby 5 hours later, no doctor in sight. My recommendation is to never come here unless you're prepared to wait about 8 hours for a simple ER visit, or you're ready to die. I'm giving the ER department, and the womens center of Wellstar Kennestone no stars (had to chose one to post this) because of the times I've been at the mercy of this hospitals ER department and the many times they have failed to show any ounce of bedside manner, professionalism or expertise in the medical field. I had a "botched" biopsy in the midst of being diagnosed with breast cancer, after a mammogram and ultrasound. I was dismissed without pain medication, bleeding heavily from my right breast, trying to drive with my left arm / hand, I'm right handed. No one even gave me a call later to see if I'd made it home. Then they refused to forward my medical records to my chosen Dr at Emory St. Josephs (who I highly recommend) to treat me for this disease, surgery and aftercare. I've been to the ER with my daughter multiple times and witness as well as experienced personnel treating my daughter and I was well as other people as though they absolutely do not care about them, at all. One trip to the ER my daughter was diagnosed with Hep A, then the next day was diagnosed with a much more simple GI bacteria. Completely and utterly not even in the same book of diagnoses. The latest trip (last night) to ER left my daughter uncared for, promises for nausea medication after she'd sat there for over four hours after a non-professional "nurse like" woman said everyone was being checked for vitals every 2 hours. Many patients were just sitting in their "behind the scenes" waiting room for hours without communication or care. When I actively (knocked on a door asking for help, as the nurse told me to do) requested assistance, the same "nurse like" woman called security and complained against ME, that I'd "knocked" on a door where there were no patients inside, requesting assistance. My recommendation would be to not ever go to this facility, if you're ever in the need of any Medical care. Go to either Emory St. Josephs, or Northside Hospital, where professionalism and medical expertise are a staple. read more

I gave the ER part of Kennestone Wellstar 3 stars because of the long, long, long, time sick people have to wait. One time I had a nurse take out my line and left. I was very sick and dizzy. But, I had to get out of there before I had a meltdown. Not only for myself but, for a few extremely sick patients, one older, who were clearly suffering and having to wait hours and hours. This is incomprehensible. None of the nurses seemed to be bothered by this. I felt so bad for these patients. I was waiting 7 hrs. One nurse was rude to me and I felt like I was in jail. Now, to be fair, one time I was in and out in 2 hours and very satisfied. Hence, 3 stars. Otherwise, I would have five 1 star. I've been misdiagnosed, my needs have been ignored, and lied to at this ER. We definitely need more hospitals or ERs in this area. People are going to Wellstar Kennestone Hos. from far and wide which results in poor, below standard, patient care. This ER needs more docs and more beds for sick people to rest in while waiting. We went to the Kennestone ER with my 92-year-old mother who had an aortic heart valve replacement last year and fell at my home. I'm a retired cardiac nurse, was in the next room and immediately took her vital signs. Her heart rate was 146 and irregular. She had no visible injuries though she said her mid back hurt on the right. I put my husband's Apple watch on her that has the EKG function and got a few strips showing AFib then back to normal sinus rhythm. She had two more episodes of dizziness after that. I took her to the ER per the Wellstar Structural Heart office whose coordinator said if she came for her appointment the following day, they would call an ambulance and bring her to the ER so I should take her there now. She was in a normal sinus rhythm in the ER. They admitted her under altered mental status which she did not have, and closed head injury, I suppose because she said she had fallen on her patio a few months ago and her head still hurt from it. We were told by the ER physician to keep her appointment for the following day with her structural heart doctor since it was a video visit and could be done from the hospital. We were also told all her blood work looked ok and were not told her troponin T (which is an indicator of heart damage) came back elevated. The ER physician did not put my mom in for a cardiology consult, I suppose because we had the appointment with the structural heart doctor the following day. My mom spent OVER 12 HOURS in the ER on a hard, uncomfortable stretcher and never received a pillow though we asked for one several times. She was also not given anything to eat or drink for over 8 hours because she was NPO although no one could tell us why. They came to draw her blood three times and the third time we asked what was being drawn- a B12 and folate level! In the ER! Was it really necessary to stick her 3 times? They wanted a stool for C. diff when there is zero chance she'd have C. diff as she lives alone and never uses any bathroom other than her own. Again, in the ER! They said it was for diarrhea. I had told them she has had intermittent diarrhea for months to years which we had identified as a lactose intolerance. Next, they wanted to do an abdominal x-ray. Why? For constipation! I let them know she had had a bowel movement and didn't have that problem. They did a finger stick and then once she was admitted returned to do two more finger sticks which we refused. Her first fingerstick was slightly elevated. They took her for a CT of the head and cervical spine even though I insisted she had not injured her neck and she had no pain in that area. Of course the results showed no injuries. They never even looked at her right mid back, which we told them and she had told them was painful. Thankfully I had put a lidocaine patch on it before coming to the ER. After being there for 8 hours they moved us to a new room in the ER. Once in the new room, they told us she would be admitted to a room in the Blue Tower in 15-20 minutes and we asked that the monitor stay disconnected as my mom had finally fallen asleep without the beeping of the monitors and we hoped she'd get a quick nap in. FIVE HOURS later, at 11:30 pm at night, my 92-year-old mother was admitted to a Green Tower room, settled in and fell asleep. We had to tell them she needed to be monitored because she was a new onset AFib. They told us the family had requested the monitor to be taken off (Not true-only for 15 minutes!). Not 10 minutes after that, MRI came to get her for an MRI of her head. I went down with her but they didn't allow me to go in the room. They asked me if I knew if her valve was pig or bionic and I let them know it was done at this hospital so they should have that information since the card with her info had been sent home with her pocketbook. When she came out, I could see she was upset and after the attendant brought her back to her room, she said they were rough with her. Then she kept repeating, they were rough, they were really rough. The following day, we prepared for the video visit with Dr. Patel, her structural heart doctor who had done her valve. At 9:45 am his office staff called and checked us in then we waited for him to appear. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. Finally, at 10:45 am I was able to get in touch with his office and was told that he couldn't do a video visit while we were in the hospital because he couldn't bill for it! They didn't even have the courtesy to call to tell us that. Needless to say, we were very upset and let them know that the only reason we had come to the hospital and agreed to have my mom admitted was because they had told us to come and the ER physician had even told us to keep our appointment with him. The nurse manager called us and promised she would look into it and give us a call back. Of course, we never received a call back. We left the hospital against medical advice -advice that had proven to be less than worthless anyway. read more

So they are so over crowded and under staffed that they just told me it would be 10-17 hour wait to be seen for a rattle snake bite on my foot! The receptionist with red hair was super kind and helpful and I appreciate her and she's amazing. Awful added stress for staff and that's just who you want examining you is a tired, overworked, under paid(for dealing with the coughing gaggle of miscreants in the waiting area) staff member. Tried to buy some antivenin off them which they wouldn't sell me and then decided I'd prefer to die of a venomous snake bite then to spend 10+ hours in that place..., Sad state of affairs for our medical care. I waited in the E.R. for over 3 hours. I was triaged. My B.P. was 218/120 on the first take, switched arms to other arm 194/100. I came in for possible kidney stone. They asked me if this was high? I told them yes absolutely. I take meds for high B.P. but it has never been 218/120. EVER! After waiting almost 3 hours I inquired on a timeframe to be seen by a Doctor. I was told that they were taking everyone according to urgency. I think my B.P. put me under that category. Then I was told if your looking for how much longer I can't give that. I watched in those 3 hours everyone that came in prior to me were taken back. Then I watched as new people would come in and be taken back. The E.R. was almost empty at that point. I gave up and went home. What good is to have the 3rd largest E.R. in U.S. if you don't staff it? I was in excruciating pain however, decided it wasn't worth the wait. I understand that it's not the staff's fault and accept that however Administration needs to do better and give them the help they need when it's needed. Also what exactly creates urgency of being seen by a Doctor? What policies are in place to make what could be life and death decisions? read more

I know I know. Folks are understaffed and it's difficult etc etc. But waiting 6 hours now and still haven't seen a doctor. Obviously we aren't about to die but we didn't know that when we made the incorrect decision to come to this emergency room. I know it's 1045 when we showed up. But this isn't right and it's a shame on the management to be this badly understaffed. That's all I can guess. Pitiful. So sad. They spent so much money on the building they forgot to budget a staff. Either half full or a lazy afternoon with four others ahead of us - the wait time was four hours. That's right. Four l o n g ones. COVID mitigation wasn't great but they made an effort. No way to dry hands in the restroom - which always makes me worried, but things worked. ONLY ONE DOCTOR on duty was given as the reason for both wait times in our visits. One. Even on a slow afternoon, they should have three as a skeleton crew. NO ONE was available to help panicked folks unload loved ones who were too disabled to get themselves out of the car. They did point out a couple of complementary wheel chairs! On 10/10/21 I was taken to Kennstone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia because I had Severe Spasms. Full body Spasms makes it difficult to say full sentences because the diaphragm is closing and I was struggling to breathe. I told them "I couldn't breathe." The nurse then said to me, if you couldn't breathe you wouldn't be able to say that!" I tried to hold her hand, still struggling to breathe and she told me, "not to touch her." She then put the bed all the way back and that made it more difficult for me. Even though I was fighting for my life I could still hear. The machine was making a loud alert sound. Then I heard someone said, "Oh my God her heart rate does not look good and her blood pressure is dropping." I knew I was going to die because I couldn't say anything. I was just waiting to take my last breathe. During that time I started thinking about my sons who are both in College. I wasn't going to get a chance to say goodbye. The last thing I remembered calmly saying was, GOD, NO! And after that I have no idea what happened next. I also talk with a lisp since I was a toddler. I am not a doctor or a nurse but if someone comes into the hospital you are working and that person's entire body is shaking, why would you treat them for a "slurred Speech and Shaking? Why assumed I was having a stroke? When someone is shaking and they say, I cannot breathe, the speech will not be the same because of the shaking. That's NOT a stroke... Paramedics called in and told Kennestone Hospital in Marietta GA. That they were transporting a patient who is having spasms and whenever she tries to say anything while having the spasms (shaking and struggling to breathe) her speech changed. I have had spasms for years but they were never that bad. BTW, per my report, why was I given Morphine twice? That's not for when muscles are tightening. They eventually contacted my neurologist at Emory Hospital and was told that I was just having spasms and needed muscle relaxer and seizure medications. My husband is the one taking care of me for years and he knows everything about every illnesses that I have. They refused to let him in. They only allowed him in after they tried killing me and it didn't work. Kennestone Hospital, My God is always faithful, Always Powerful, and Always in Charge. Again, before I lost consciousness my last words were, which you all couldn't hear, was "GOD, NO! So, you all failed because my God was right there with me. The little nurses who are only working for money and have no empathy for people and their lives should consider doing something else.. Thank God you all couldn't kill me and then say it was Covid because I did a Covid test that showed Negative at Emory a week before you almost killed me. Why is Kennestone refusing to put on my report what happened after I stopped breathing? Did I have a cardiac arrest, passed out or fainted? I need to know what happened to me after almost losing my life. I am not the same ever since that traumatic experience at that hospital. Some of these people are not there to help they are only there for the money, please quit! My son is a Pre-Med Student and I was so excited that he had always wanted to be a doctor, but my excitement is gone. He loves and care for people so I know he's someone who will show love and care for people. My suggestion is do NOT work at a hospital just for the money. PLEASE work there because you love what you do. Saving lives is what hospitals are for, not taking lives! Please stay away from this hospital. read more
