She called me sweetie and within 2 minutes felt like it was her job to give me her "shpeal" as she put it about bring my CT scan and that I needed to do that and not always does their system work or can they log into Wellstar. I was trying to explain to her that it was an old CT scan and then she stated "Well then we don't need that and it doesn't matter" after cracking her knuckles and berating me. She was snappy and rude. My husband even was shocked at how she was speaking to me. I told her I would speak to my Dr about these matters at which time she just looked at me like I was being rude. She didn't realize at all that I have been in the medical field for 30 plus years and would never speak to a patient this way. She continued to talk to me like she was my Dr! at which time I again said, I will speak to my Dr about these things. Then she kind of laughed and walked out of the room with a huff. I did mention this to my very wonderful Dr. who was very professional and listened. I will stay a patient. Even when checking me out the MA came in, rolled her tongue over her teeth, cracked her neck with a head roll, and proceeded to ask me (thank God) yes or no questions about getting an MRI. Thank God I'm very well versed in all of this procedure so it was short. She really needs a class on speaking to patients that are in pain and new to the facility. And, she is NOT a Dr. she has no right to be acting this way at all as a medical assistant

I am 33, and have been inpatient in psych hospitals in GA (4 of them; 1 twice) and in two other states, and I can say with certainty Tanner at Willowbrooke is beyond egregiously pitiful and has no regard for human life. It should be a reliable indicator of how broken a psychiatric or behavioral health hospital designed to treat THOSE WHO ADMIT IN ACTIVE MENTAL HEALTH CRISES is when you are unspeakably worse on discharge than when you initially admitted! Despite every failing on the part of staff at Tanner, I find that I must give credit where it is due: I was there in 2023, and there was ONE STAFF MEMBER that I want to call out, named Vanessa. I'm not sure if she still works there, but SHE ALONE IS THE REASON I SURVIVED TANNER! There were no other staff members OTHER THAN VANESSA who treated patients with not only bountiful compassion, but also with an incredible humanity and desire to protect, to teach, to vent to, etc., with no judgment or gaslighting. She made me feel safe; There was a young man who I saw standing straight up IN FRONT OF THE NURSES IN THE MED WINDOW, who we in the "dayroom" saw pass out completely face down on the hospital floor. Staff saw and did nothing until a PATIENT YELLED at a staff member to "HELP HIM I THINK HE HAD A SEIZURE". The staff could not have moved slower. VANESSA WAS NOTHING LIKE THIS. She was an earth Angel that truly saw you when she looked at you. She never condescended. She sat with me in my room while I was going through Akathisia from being cold turkeyed off of ALL 4 OF MY PSYCH MEDS & SUPPLEMENTS & BIRTH CONTROL FOR 6 DAYS, and she just let me cry. Never interrupting. Vanessa is THE BEST THING TANNER EVER DID CORRECTLY. They lucked out finding her, and I doubt they even care. Vanessa, you saved my life that night. Thank you for treating me like a human being and imparting your wisdom onto me. I will not be forgetting you, ever.
