We were so satisfied with his work and his service that we hired him to fix a gas leak in our fireplace, too. He did, and now we have a working fireplace again, too! Thanks Anthony! Anthony was meticulous but not slow in getting the job done right, kept communication open and honest, and waited patiently at my house while I finished pricing other options. He explained that a hardware store water heater is of cheaper quality than the "professional" model he would install. He also correctly guessed that a competitive quote had come in lower because they did not factor in permitting the work, which he felt was important, and I agreed. He did look for multiple ways to save us some money, including combining visits, not charging for the initial investigation of our gas leak, discounting a subsequent job; he even researched the design lifetime of my new water heater and recommended against getting an extended warrantee in my case since the heater was built to last at least that long if not longer. Anthony and team were friendly, passionate, and a delight to have at our house. I would hire Plumbing Excellence again or call them for advice any time!

Now, they have handed me an estimate for over $1,600--including cutting open my laundry room ceiling and walls--without even pinpointing the actual issue first. Their paperwork explicitly states that "additional work may be required" once the toilet is removed, leaving the door wide open for endless extra costs. To top it off, they refuse to take responsibility for putting back any of the finished surfaces or walls they plan to tear apart. They are guessing at my expense and trying to leave me with a massive bill and a torn-up house. If you want a plumber who actually diagnoses a problem accurately before racking up charges, look elsewhere.

It's only changed because I can understand Sal's concern as a businessman. He offered me free service in return but I declined it again. He got me wrong completely. On the day the work was to be done, I was told they would replace two additional drain lines leading from my house (which were not crushed) and take out 2 sidewalk slabs that that were not going to be replace by them. This was not what I was told, but I had nothing in writing. I cancelled the job. When I called to complain that damaging the sidewalk without being replaced, the person I talked to kept loudly talking over me and did not politely listen to my complaint. Extremely poor customer service. Their work may be excellent but their management policy of not giving the customer a detailed work order in writing and their policy of handling a customer complaint was horrible. They should give the potential customer a detailed explanation of the work to be done in writing before any work is to be done and someone needs more training on customer service. RECOMMNEDATION: Get the contracted work in writing in detail before you allow them to damage your property i.e. require them to restore the work area to its original state.
