Our puppy loved the ducks (and these were some FRIENDLY and INTERACTIVE ducks...) and we experienced some other cool avian sightings. Not a surprise - but the restrooms were suitably scary and during the first part of our visit, the overcast and gray sky made the cement building feel ripe for a horror movie experience... compete with a scary service truck and a man in stained overalls. (Please note, the gentleman was actually very friendly and engaging and was hard at work - he was not in any way a negative presence). The park is expansive and it was actually really busy for a Thursday evening. The dog park was intriguing but we ran out of time to visit. The play area had something for all ages and was popular with children through teens. Loads of parking and the shelter area was great for a school gathering. Can't wait to visit again!

There are plenty of green spaces and empty fields to play frisbee, flag football, or volleyball. I drove to the dog park area since the park is strict on having the dogs on leash at all times, so I went there. The dog parks for both small and large dogs are enormous! I have never seen that size of a dog park since I was in Colorado--and that state is known for being pet friendly, so their parks and restaurants are 90% pet-friendly. I took my dog to the small dog park as he is small. It was still 4 P.m. and too hot for my dog. There are not a lot of shades in the small dog area compared to the large dog area. I did not stay that long as my dog did not like being grilled under the sun. I checked out the rest of the park by driving around and noticed a vast playground, a marina (although the water has receded), empty fields, a picnic area, and even a camping area! If I had come later in the day when it was not too hot for my dog, I would have enjoyed my stay here. I have seen plenty of residents around here with their kids, birthday party groups, and groups playing frisbee. I can tell that it is a great park to visit. Cool spot ~

The water in the ponds were either this unnatural blue color, or completely covered in a mossy algae film, and there were no fish of any kinds in the ponds. The pathway to walk was okay, pretty over grown. However the worst part of it all was the smell. The entire area smelled so strongly of sewage and bathroom smell, it was so unpleasant. Pretty disappointed in our lack of experience here but I'm sure with a little TLC the place could become much better.

The green space is sufficient for the occasional summer event. It's easy to park in the area but it's also very integrated to the surrounding neighborhood and walkable. Lots of parking, restroom (portable restroom), plenty of area to skate with ramps, drop ins, and a few rails. Also, included several covered shelters for picnicking. But one is reminded of all the splendid Kentucky countryside that is privately owned; it's nice that this is open to the public. A couple of trails run through mildly hilly forest and around a pond. There weren't the sorts of spectacular views you'd expect from a major park, but it's nice hiking and the trails were quite well maintained. A climate controlled bird blind overlooks a pond near the parking area. There was no charge to get in and no one else in sight other than a few deer with winter coats when I dropped by.

But we got…read moreliterally 100 yards into the path and discovered HUNDREDS of baby ticks on all 10 members (including the kids). A few of our members were removing ticks for over 30 minutes. We stayed on the trail the whole time. And we all had bug spray on. We understand nature is nature but this is just unacceptable for an kept trail recommended for families and a place that host events. We will only do this in the winter from now on.

It runs in between the the old courthouse build (which is now the Lexington History Museum), Cheapside Bar and Grill and a row of other bars that come alive on the weekends. It is on the Main Street block between Upper Street and Mill Street. There really isn't much to it, unless you're attending a special event, TNL or the Farmer's Market. You can rent it out for your special event, but I'm sure that it's not very private and the cost is outrageous.

It was next to nothing but a nice place to stroll around a lake and feed the ducks. This summer when my daughter and grandson came to town they requested that we forego our annual trip to the Louisville Zoo and give the Salato Wildlife Education Center a try. We went there and my expectations were extremely low. I was pleasantly surprised at the changes that occurred since I was here last. The small museum utilizes every nook and cranny with exhibits It is very informative yet fun for all. Then after making the circle through the museum we exited the rear door to the outside and began our leisurely stroll down paths and around loops to see all the live wildlife. Even though there were multiple families visiting at the same time the grounds absorbed the people so you didn't feel like you were in a crowd. There are many opportunities for kids to have a hands on feel for the subject matters. So the $5. for adults and the $3. for kids was well worth our afternoon visit to the center. Woohoo, I'll be back on my own just to walk the grounds again.
