I walked into this store and was absolutely blown away at the prices.. I actually walked right back out because honestly it was insulting.. I'm a 90's kid and to expect anyone to ever pay $200 for a gratefuldead t shirt is absolutely unreal and disrespectful not only to customers but to the dead and what they stood for. My mom actually sold some of my step dad's concert tshirts to her and I can promise you she wasn't paid anywhere even close to what she is charging for them.. this is listed as a thrift store online but that couldn't be further from the truth. Poor customer service. My sister was visiting and wanted to know the price of a pair of boots. The salesperson told her she had to try it on first (with a plastic grocery store bag over her foot) because she didn't want to spend the time going to the back of the store to find out the price if the boot didn't fit!? Hmmm...why should my sister waste her time even trying on the boot if she wasn't happy with the price? And then the salesperson asked me to go to the back of the store to check my purse. I guess her time is more valuable than the customers'. And, why not just have the price of the boot on the actual boot?? Won't be going back to this store! read more

Hm. I'm mixed on my reviews for this place and am going to echo some of the previous rather negative reviews. When you enter you have to leave your purse behind the counter and your drink on their counter. I had a small tote and I was told by the girl at the door to ask Wendy if it was okay to walk around with. I went and asked Wendy (the owner) if it was okay - she said it was 'small enough and didn't look like I could fit anything in it to steal, and if I did, she'd see it.' A little awkward considering I had no intentions at all other than just looking and potentially purchasing something. There are a lot of options. I mean like a thousand options. Things are held on racks and sorted by 'type', ranging from cartoon themes to vacation spots to sports teams. The price of everything was shocking. I went back and forth on a Disney sweatshirt for 45.00 but then I convinced myself it was probably sold for 10.00 and they just upped the price tag upon resale. A lot of these thrifted and vintage brand shirts and sweatshirts are marked way up from what they should be. The store is kind of overwhelming and Wendy is constantly barking orders at her employees or trying to direct customers in a million ways to her suggestions. They have a dressing room, lots of shoes. But it's super cluttery and overwhelming and paying absurd prices for used (or pilling, stained, torn) clothing just isn't worth it to me. I've found some amazing stuff at goodwill for like 7 dollars. Are there people out here in FL paying these prices? Not sure how this place is staying open when it's a hundred bucks for an old graphic tee shirt. read more

Was not happy, because out of all the days I wanted to visit (this past Saturday) to find some good used cowboy boots, (which evidently is the "schtick" for this place), the location was closed! Who owns a business and then shuts down on the weekend, so their customers have to shop elsewhere. It blows my mind that the owner could not find anyone to work and would shut down losing revenue at a loss their customer base. When business owners act like this, people like myself will just go someplace else like I did. Bought brand new boots, spending $250 in support of another business. read more

This store has so much potential, but sadly it misses the mark. Once you enter you have to check your purse/bag at the door. I don't feel entirely comfortable doing that, but I have for the couple of short perusing stints I've done. I imagine if prices were lower, they wouldn't have to worry about theft as much. No other place on central requires this. The pro-there's an overwhelming, albeit impressive, selection of vintage and newer clothing. The con-its overwhelming. There's way too much!!! Lower prices and a lot will clear out! Staff is friendly and helpful. However, I was in there today asking about a Grateful Dead shirt hanging up on display overhead all the clothes as you enter. The response was those shirts are really pricey, by Wendy herself, like $200. I could've purchased that fine. I have no idea why she said that to me as if it were out of my price range. I wouldn't have paid that much because I can find many of the same prints elsewhere for way less. I didn't spend too much time here. Way too much to thumb through and way overpriced. A dingy "free people" item was $45. Which that brand can be purchased on their website clearance brand new. There was also a crappy Jurassic Park t shirt for $75!!! Goodwill has them for $5. Amazing higher quality second hand store you can find anything from bits to fur ir leather jackets- Cloths are organized by theme or era Service is good you basically get free rain to walk around and find what you can they do have a bag policy so I wouldn't bring your backpack with anything valuable cause they just go behind the counter with no special organization. Value is decent find a 240 fiat leather jacket for 60 in good condition unfortunately it was a bit too big but still great value- the skies are V a bit over priced to me but it may be worth it if you find something specific... i found this place to be very odd. they take your bag and store it behind the "checkout" (which is just a cluttered desk with a POS on it, super sus looking) in a messy ass back room. second, the owner wendy is constantly yelling "can i get one of my girls??!!" to do tasks for her which i found weird and uncomfortable, not to mention she's also like running around trying to convince people to buy her stuff. i can tell she's just a nightmare to work with. while i was in there someone found a coach bag that didn't have a price tag, and she made one of her employees frantically google the style to see what she should charge... and there is a ton of clothing, but all totally overpriced and the store is so full that it's pretty hard to actually shop. like some hangers have multiple shirts on them. i was excited to shop here but honestly the vibe was so fucking weird. i left feeling like i needed to wash my hands. read more

Oh, where to begin. To start with yes, Wendy has a great collection. There are some really hard to find items in here. With that being said, if you want anything relatively unique, it's going to be marked up beyond value. Pretty much everything in this store is more than it's worth, by more than other thrifting vendors would charge. We can consider this just a side effect of her renting a spot downtown. But unfortunately, there's a lot of overpriced fake vintage in here too. Factory made shirts made to look vintage. The real issue with this store is Wendy. She treats her employees horribly, and I've personally witnessed her being extremely condescending to both employees and customers. She is extremely controlling. She repeatedly ushered me away from the men's jeans, even though I told her I wanted to check them out, she would only let me near the women's jeans. She is also extremely disorganized. My friend wanted a pair of boots and after looking for a half hour, Wendy and her employees could not find the matching boot in the back. The back looks like chaos, no organizational system. Lastly, Wendy replies to Yelp/Google reviews and tiktok comments as herself. A women stated that Wendy would only let her browse the XL clothes because she was a large women, and Wendy responded with something like "well don't come back then" which just speaks for itself. And the racks were PACKED the owner is clearly buying up everything at the thrift and then charging 10 times what it's worth and hoarding it. Back when the wagon wheel flea market was open I used to go there at least once a month and my first stop was Wendy's Closet. As an aging hippie, I love retro and vintage clothing stores. Wendy has the largest selection of like new, used, and pre-owned clothing I have ever seen! Wendy also specializes in cowboy boots. She literally had 60 square yards of space stuffed to the gills with clothes. I have not yet been to her retail outlet, but now that I know it's there it won't be long before I visit. This place is a fucking wreck. All of the employees were rude. Upon entering, a young female employee pointed to the back and told me and my friend we had to set our small purses "back there". When we finally found the section, it was employees only. Super weird and uncomfortable. When looking at jeans, a male employee tried to shoo us away to "womans pants." The worst of them all was Wendy. Wendy, if you're reading this, just know you could benefit from some therapy. She accosted us multiple times while shopping, and the worst was when she looked us up and down and tried to guess our sizes. When she guessed my friend was a 4, she looked at me and said she "couldnt tell if I was a size bigger" and to "let her see me." I didnt want to show her my body but she got real up close without consent. Soooo creepy and uncomfortable, as well as one of the rudest interactions i've had in my life. Her store was a freaking mess and she blocked us from being able to get out. As for the clothes, you can find better at any good will or salvation army. and the prices? laughable. read more

My daughter loves vintage denim and this is her go-to place. Always a good time at Wendy's Closet! I've bought and sold here a few times now and have only had positive experiences. The staff are friendly and inviting, and the owner is a real gem of a human. They have a lot of inventory so keep that in mind if you're looking to visit. I always spend at least 30-45 minutes digging thru the racks. If you go into this store be prepared to fall over things and have an allergy attack.Also don't plan on actually being able to Sell clothing to them either She doesn't know what items are really vintage and only basis what she buys on the material they were made out of and what makes her itchy. Also you will see six items on the same hanger she's had the same pile of moccasins in her shoe section so long there's two inches of dust on them. When asked how many totes you can bring in at a time her reply is we take quite a bit in that one time but will never give you a straight answer also when asked what she means by she doesn't take this fabric cuz it's itchy what does that mean she has no clue half the stuff in her door is not truly vintage and she does not know at all had to deal with someone who's been selling clothes for 5 years now she's not looking for true sellers just 12-year-olds who will blow all their money in her store. read more

Wendy's is a super fun vintage clothing store that I always stop at when visiting the area. I always find treasures from my youth. I've seen some negative comments but hey if you wanted to be treated like you're at Nordstrom's go to Nordstroms. She wouldn't allow anyone to simply shop and browse. There was constantly someone telling you were doing something wrong, whether it be folding the clothes or where you were shopping.
