We ordered three burger baskets and three milkshakes, and the bill was nearly $60, which is about what I'd expect these days. At that price, though, I also expect accuracy. Ordering wasn't complicated, yet we stood at the register for around 10 minutes while the cashier struggled to enter the order. The only customization on my burger was a double cheeseburger with two slices of American cheese on each patty (four slices total), bacon, and extra vegetables. I've had problems here before with them substituting cheddar instead of American cheese, and unfortunately it happened again. When my burger arrived, it had only one slice of cheese and the extra vegetables were missing. The bun was barely toasted and appeared to have been run through a conveyor toaster instead of being grilled on the flat top. The fries were ordinary frozen fries, and the tater tots weren't anything memorable either. To be fair, they have improved one thing over the years by switching to fresh beef, and that's a noticeable step up. The burger has the potential to be very good if the kitchen paid closer attention to the details. Since we were hungry and on our way to a movie, I didn't ask for the burger to be remade. I simply showed it to the employee at the counter and explained that it wasn't what I ordered. She asked if I wanted it remade, but because we were short on time I asked if they could instead provide a gift card for a future visit. After we finished eating, she told me she'd spoken with the manager, who was working the grill. Their solution was to offer me a $1 gift card. A one-dollar gesture on a nearly $60 order after serving the wrong burger doesn't communicate that customer satisfaction matters. Mistakes happen. What keeps customers coming back is how those mistakes are handled. I genuinely want to support local businesses, but after repeatedly receiving the wrong cheese on my burger and then being offered a $1 gift card to make it right, I left disappointed. I hope management focuses not only on food quality but also on order accuracy and customer service. I'm not suggesting that people shouldn't go to Mike's. The beer cheese mac was thick. It was good but had a cloying type of consistency. Tots and fries were good. The kid's chicken tenders and fries were just that.
