Our original deal spanned Feb-April 2022. I'm just writing this after months of mental recovery from this deal that we ultimately pulled out of. We were buying a home TSDHB had flipped. Right off the bat, communication with the selling agent was spotty at best. We heard from Gary only a handful of times through our agent and it was always very confusing and hard to get straight answers from him. He also went on vacation during our escrow. He left no point of contact for us and our agent had to go up the food chain to even be able to talk to someone about an emergency that developed at the home. The emergency was a roof leak that happened during a storm. After they "fixed" the leak, it rained again and created even more water damage. There were wood members 100% saturated from water on multiple walls. We had to push to get quick action, and hired our own remediation inspection as we did not trust the company to do the proper procedure after the first "fixed leak." The sellers seemed compliant and willing to fix everything, but then acted like it was an inconvenience when we asked for documentation of the fixes done to the home, and we did not get consistent updates on progress unless we gave multiple requests. They even took the lockbox off the home during escrow because they were annoyed our agent was checking-in on the property. If she had never checked the property, the leaks wouldn't have even been found in the first place! Escrow was delayed 4+ weeks and we would get only short notices on updates that they needed more time. This made our move-out extremely stressful as well since we had to delay with our own landlord. Eventually we had wired our final deposit, and the final closing date came and went without hearing from them. Then the day after we were supposed to close, they demanded we sign a waiver releasing TSDHB and any 3rd party contractors that worked on the home in relation to water damage, from any future liability. Obvisouly we weren't going to do that. After the lack of communication we had little trust in the deal any longer so we decided to pull out. To top it all off, when we sent over a request to release our earnest money, we didn't hear back until 4 days later. I found out in the meantime they had re-listed the home on Redfin for more money, held an open house and gotten a new offer before they decided to release our earnest deposit. Oh and during all this, there was active termite infestation (we found holes in the ceiling and active frass dropping) happening. Overall, we felt completely dismissed and emotionally exhausted after mixed signals and confusing updates/lack of communication. They seemed amicable and apologetic on one end, but actions spoke louder than the words. Gary the selling agent (and a member of TSDHB) was the worst point of contact out of everyone. He was dismissive, aggressive and extremely rude to our agent, someone who has been in the business a long time in CA. Maybe selling your home to them is better, but buyer beware (I see one other review from 6/2021 from a buyer with post renovation issues) and make sure to get a thorough inspection if doing a deal. read more
