The Garvey site has the most unhelpful people on earth!! Two of them could not be bothered with me today. Went to pay my credit card. Told her 30 but handed her two 20s. Then I couldn't log on! i drove to the branch and the loan "specialist" Started asking fraud questions. I answered everything and she tells us we were denied!! Amazing staff and took great care of me when I signed up for a checking and savings account. Like any other credit union or bank, they will have their busy times but the staff will do their best to speed things up while still care for your concerns of needs. I had a PO box address, paycheck, insurance but I was told they could not help me. In the most humiliating way possible. The first time all my money was returned and we underwent the inconvenience of closing our account, this time we are having to get new cards and generate new pins. Went to make a deposit at the ATM and unfortunately the ATM took my check and said it was an error and didn't credit my check to my checking account went inside the branch they told me they cannot verify my deposit as a third-party manages their ATM how ridiculous is that. So now I have to wait 10 days until they investigate and I'm shit out of my money. You would think after being with them for 32 years they would handle this better unfortunately they don't care and as soon as this is taken care of, I will be going to a different credit union. BEWARE!! STAY AWAY FROM WESCOM!! Want a bank that allows scammers to charge your account and then have that said bank side with the scammers? Then sign up for an account with Wescom. I've been a customer with them since 2009. Never had any issues until I had a scammer incorrectly charge my Wescom credit card while in Mexico this past April. I never signed anything nor provided a PIN number. I also had 3 witnesses to confirm what I was supposed to be charged. I immediately contacted Wescom to report this fraudulent charge and they refused to block it. There was not contact information for the scammer but somehow they claimed to have contacted the scammer to confirm the charge? Yeah, I don't think so. Wescom basically sided with the lies of a foreign scammer over their American customer of over 10 years. I've now had to file a complaint with the California Attorney General's office as well as BBB. My credit is now at risk of being hit with a collections report because Wescom refused to block and remove a fraudulent charge. I have never had any issues with my other credit card companies when I've had fraudulent charges. Even American Express and Bank of America confirmed that they would have blocked and/or reversed the charge. I've never been more disgusted with a company. Wescom HATES their customers and will refuse to help you in any way should a scammer steal money from your account. DO NOT TRUST THEM!! read more

My husband and I were alerted this morning regarding fraudulent activities on our over 18 year account. My husband called only to be told it was my debit card that had been compromised. I called the 800 number given in the email and did not have to wait too long for an agent to come on the line. She started verifying my information and all was going well until we got to the "work" phone number. I proceeded to give her every work phone number I could remember going back 12 years. She said she could not help me until I updated my information with "branch". You'd think there would be back up questions for instances like this? You cannot connect directly to the branch and are pawned off on some understaffed call center in the Midwest. I called the "branch" in the Midwest to update my information. Please continue to hold...... went on for over 45 minutes. While on hold I logged onto our account, it lists NO WORK PHONE NUMBER? When I saw that I decided to try the fraud line again and disconnected with the "branch". This time I had the nicest man from the "branch" trying to help me. He too was getting frustrated. He put me on hold and tried contacting the "branch" to straighten thing out but was unsuccessful. He apologized profusely when having to transfer me back to the "branch". Please continue to hold ...... went on for an additional 45 plus minutes when low and behold the "branch" answered. She proceeded to verify our information, guess what? THERE IS NO WORK PHONE NUMBER LISTED ON THE ACCOUNT. She was able to verify the fraudulent charges. I asked if I would get a new debit card? She said you can if you want but you don't have to. I told her I'll feel better getting a new card. She offered to mail me a new card or I could go to my local branch and pick one up. She then transferred me to the fraud department for crossing of the t's and dotting of the i's. Problem solved right? I drove the 10 minutes to my local branch only to be told their card machine wasn't working, but they could mail me a card and I'll get it in 7-10 days. My other option would be to drive to the La Habra or Pasadena branches to get a card. Who can afford the gas? I opted for the 7-10 day pony express delivery. I specifically asked if my current card would still work? I was told yes, it was not deactivated. Guess what? I stopped at the store on my way home, DECLINED! Foothill Credit Union just gained a new customer. UPDATE: I still have not received my debt card. My husband is traveling for business and now has had 4 transactions declined on his debit card. The first 2 were when traveling, the second 2 are purchases on Amazon? We purchase regularly on Amazon. He has had to unlock his card twice. They are essentially cutting us off from our money. We have opened our account at Foothill Credit Union, as you know it takes a while to transition all your online banking. I write this as I've been on hold with Wescom's Customer Service for over 40 minutes after it cut me off the first time I called. I was on hold 15-20 minutes before they cut me off. What kind of SERVICE am I getting? UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: MY DEBIT CARD WAS NEVER ORDERED BY THE WESCOM BRANCH! I AM SPEECHLESS AT THE LACK OF SERVICE. I'm not a current member at Wescom, but I came in with my parents who are loyal Wescom members at this branch location for over 20yrs. We arrived early for our Notary appointment; as soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted and helped by the person at the check-in desk. Rosa R. was a HUGE godsend in printing forms that we needed for our appointment but had trouble printing over at FedEx. Ivonne D. was an absolute treasure helping us with our extensive notary needs; and we pray blessings over her poor fingers/hand in all that writing she did on our behalf. These two ladies went ABOVE and beyond for us today. I certainly hope the branch manager knows Ivonne and Rosa's worth and compensates them accordingly! Today, I noticed that I had an overdraft charge on my account. Quite a few years ago, I had a similar problem, which I thought was corrected. I am very busy and I don't have time to chase after these things. I called their call center. The IVR is a pain, but I got through to a wonderful woman, Liz. She could tell I was frustrated and asked me questions. She checked my account, corrected the error and refunded the overdraft fees. Wow, I was very happy. Here's the amazing thing. Right before we ended the call, she double checked to make sure everything was done correctly. She found that their "system" was no going to pull funds from the overdraft loan line, not my savings account. She asked me a few more questions, corrected the problem and double checked everything again. Wow, that's amazing in this day and age! I thanked her for her exceptional work. This is the reason why I prefer credit unions over large banks. They care enough to do things the right way. My review is not for a specific branch. I am writing regarding a policy that I was recently made aware of. First I'd like to begin by saying I have been a loyal member of WESCOM for many years. I became a member when it was originally called TECU. Over the years, service has gradually declined to the point that I am considering closing my account. I realize every business has had to reduce services they offer due to rising costs. It use to be that you could receive a hard copy of your statement if you were a signature member. I believe in the beginning of 2022, they began charging $5 per statement regardless of your status. So...I switched to paperless statements. Now I am informed that if there is no electronic activity for the month, a statement will not be generated. What kind of nonsense is that??? I am very disappointed in the changes WESCOM has made. Hope this credit union can do waaayy better with the deals in opening an account with them. I used a coupon code from Yelp to get $200... but there are TONS of things to do just to get that $200 sign in bonus. Beware when you open an account you DONT GET ANY POINTS... TOO COMPLICATED. We've been with Wescom probably over 20 years. We don't come in too often being we are so automated and digital but this past Saturday, September 10, 2022, my husband and I needed 2 things. One was a notary the other was to check why my husband could not access the savings account. First the savings. HOLY HELL. Something so simple turned into close to an hour in total. This is my spouse of almost 22 years. We have had THE SAME ACCOUNT all these years. It took FOREVER for not one person, but a second person to add him. Which I have no idea how he was removed in the first place. Then the notary. Granted he seemed new, but everything seemed to take him so long to do. Then he would consult with his manager and I'm not quite sure how knowledgeable she was either. We finally got both taken care of but I think we both left with less hair and higher blood pressure. Wescom Corp, get some senior people in there. OH! And you should have a full staff on Saturdays. The lines and wait were atrocious. I hope I do not have to walk in again for a LONG TIME. I've been a member for years always good service. But recently I referred someone to apply for a car loan. The car loan was approved. But they recommend you get insurance with them so that your finance rate is lowered. Sounded great to us. So this person ended up going with Mercury insurance With Wescom The women who helped us was named Sally Colletto was very nice in the phone ... BUT she ripped us off. She never said the insurance would cost $3,000 for 6 months. We paid $854. She told us that was for 6 months. Then this person started getting letters saying he owed more money and if he did not pay they would cancel his insurance. We went to the bank, this is how we found out she basically lied to us to make a sale! . Also without my permission she added me to his insurance!!! Scam!!! Fraud !!!!! I don't even live in the same house and she asked me this over the phone. Do NOT get your insurance through Wescom. It's a shame that people are so greedy they cheat you. Now we are out of funds. That $800 and change was only for 3 months! And we need car insurance !!!! I've called her supervisor who said she would return my call the same day and never did. My experience at this Wescom branch has always been good a one. The customer service has been great every time I visit and if there's a line, it's tended to quickly. I love using my "Signature Service" favors and perks, and when I've gone it to use them at the branch it's gone by smoothly. Making payments directly to the IRS for me, notarizing a letter, and free coin machine use, are the perks of being a signature member . Again, a great experience and I love banking with a small credit union as I don't have to worry about the miscellaneous fees. PS The coin machine: They do charge a fee, but if you are a signature member, you can use some of the free perks a few times a year and not pay a fee. I walked in without and appointment on Monday and was assisted within half an hour by Lily. The building is ample, clean and bright. I had general inquiries on their personal loan department, the process and the requisites to which Lily answered them all with professionalism. There was never a pressure to submit an application or to open an account. As she followed up with me via phone she was detailed when I requested additional information.
