To be clear, this is not about the staff. The people here are excellent, they genuinely love these dogs, and they are the only reason the place is still functioning. My issue is entirely with corporate. What has changed since the acquisition: The longtime manager was let go with no explanation. There is no full-time manager on site anymore. The new manager splits time between two locations. Business hours were changed with zero notice to members. I dropped my dog off Thursday morning,8/27, and only found out when it was time for pickup. No E-Mail went out. It is now 9/4 and corporate still has not notified members directly. The staff themselves had less than 24 hours' warning. The hours advertised are wrong. The actual hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, and the location is closed on weekends. Check before you make the trip, because the posted schedule has not been corrected. Here is the real problem. Regulars buy prepaid monthly packages. I still have about eight sessions left that I paid for under a schedule that no longer exists, and I now have to rearrange my workweek to use them. Selling packages on one set of hours and then changing those hours mid-membership, without notice, is unacceptable. The dogs feel it. Longtime owners are already looking elsewhere, and my dog is losing the pack he grew up with. And when a business cuts its hours, staff hours are usually next. This team deserves better than that. I recommended this place to friends and family for years. I can't anymore. If your prepaid package was affected by the schedule change, consider filing a complaint with the BBB. Until corporate communicates with members directly and honors what it sold, I'd look elsewhere.

My pup, Obi, is a rescue and has severe social anxiety and this place has really helped him break out of his shell. Andrea always sends me pictures of Obi and lets me know how his behavior has been. He was supposed to get a bath a few days before I picked him up but he was not having it. Andrea let me know the situation and she ended up being able to bathe Obi before he left. Her professionalism, communication and timely responses are just a few reasons why I will always choose Barkingham if I need day care or boarding. Not to mention her prices are MORE than reasonable. She immediately reassured me that she was up for the challenge, which put my mind at ease. This was my first trip leaving Zeus with someone unfamiliar, and I was understandably anxious. Bri suggested a meet-and-greet to ensure we clicked and to make sure Zeus felt comfortable with her. On the day of the meeting, I had an emergency and couldn't attend, but Bri went above and beyond by continuing the meeting with my sister. She even offered to set up another meeting if I felt it was necessary--a testament to her thoughtfulness and professionalism. Zeus is also a notoriously picky eater, and Bri went out of her way to adjust his meals to find the perfect balance for him. It's not easy to keep this little pug happy, but her patience and care really showed. She made sure he ate well and even shared updates with me about how he was doing, which was such a relief. While I was away, Bri consistently updated me with pictures and little notes about Zeus throughout the day. This level of communication was wonderful and far beyond what most doggy boarding or daycare centers provide. I could tell that Zeus was happy and well-cared for, which gave me the peace of mind I needed. We had received plenty of recommendations for dog sitters, but I trusted Bri because you simply can't fake the genuine love and care of a true animal lover. Her attention to detail and dedication to Zeus' happiness made all the difference. All of us miss her and hope she thrives in her new country! I found Didi on Yelp when I accepted that I am, in fact, too lazy/occupied with babies to walk my dogs, even though I spend most of my time at home. I reached out to her about walking them a few times a week and she got back to me right away. We set up a time to meet and she ended up taking them on their first walk later that same day. For the next eleven months, Didi walked the bassets almost every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:30 to 1:15, dropping off Duke, the senior hound, at 1:00, then taking Milo on an extra jag to get out more of his naughty dog energy. She was always on time, always kind and communicative. The few times she had to miss a walk--for jury duty, or to get married, for example--she let me know far in advance. Our house has been pretty chaotic this last year, what with a fast-growing toddler and a new baby, and Didi was an enormous help. The dogs love her, and they got plenty of fun and exercise on their tri-weekly walks, even as their parents were occupied attending to human children. Didi also sent pictures from every walk, and she is a fantastic pup photographer. We were sad to say goodbye to her earlier this month, but are grateful for the time we had together (I'm sure the bassets would say so if they were more articulate). It was also nice of her to introduce us to a new dog walker before we even thought to ask--we were able to transition without the boys missing a day of exercise.
