Armed Force Security was hired to provide security to a city-owned site at 16th and Capp St in the Mission in San Francisco, adjacent to my children's elementary school. Sadly this area close to BART plaza suffers from problems with shootings, fencing, drug sales and public drug usage. The neighbors and school parents were assured by the city agencies that this security team would also be taking on patrols of the sidewalks with the directive I pasted below. Since Armed Forces Security started the contract on September 19th, the many neighbors and parents that I have polled have seen zero presence in the area. There has been a number of issues of large gangs of 15 or more drug users congregating in the area, and graffiti accumulating daily of on the city-owned property that they are in charge of protecting. Even a local news source reported on how the area next to the site they are securing has become a haven for drug users (https://missionlocal.org/2025/10/day-207-at-the-16th-st-plaza-trucks-move-onto-the-plaza/). "Two Security Guards will be present during the times listed below- one stationed at the Capp Street entrance and the other at the Mission Street entrance. They will also intermittently patrol the perimeter, with a priority on the school side at school hours. Monday through Thursday: 3:00 PM - 7:00 AM (16 hours per day) Friday 3:00 PM - Monday 7:00 AM: 16 hours for Friday-Saturday 24 hours for Saturday-Sunday 24 hours for Sunday-Monday (Total: 64 hours per week) Monday through Friday: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (8 hours per day): The contractor's staff will be on site. It was a complete nightmare to deal with the second we got back in town. I contacted Got Rats and they were able to come out the next day and put together a quote for me. Way more reasonably priced compared to a couple other quotes I had gotten from other companies. They came the day after to start work and ended up discovering more damage underneath. They sent me another quote for the newly found damage and was able to give me a fantastic deal on it. They worked on the house for about 8 hours that day and since then I have not heard any rats at all. No more evidence of them getting inside. They come by once a week to check traps for about a month. At the end of it all, I can't recommend Got Rats enough. Even if the job estimate may have incorporated some of the areas/premises/attics/roof, I felt more assured that their estimate incorporated what they assessed. Bear in mind that the estimates vary greatly in terms of how much the companies charge and what they charge it for. So you will want to ask each person questions you may have. They were not the cheapest, but I felt they would do the best job based on our needs. The worker that came to do the rat proofing job did a fantastic job. It was so thorough, and done so quickly despite the amount of work required. We had the crawl space, side storage room, checking attics. That included moving things out of the crawl space to do the rat proofing. All done in 1.5 days by one person. They came back on a regular basis (you make an appointment for the days/weeks they recommend each time), and would continue to monitor the various locations to make sure there has not been issues since the proofing.
