It turned out to be a bigger project as it turns out the wood had water damage, but he replaced and repaired what needed. Zach's pricing was very fair and reasonable and he made sure to explain everything he was doing which took away my anxiety about the whole thing. What I appreciated most was Zach's work ethic. He had a positive attitude during the project, showed up and put his work in each day, and I could really tell he genuinely cares about the project he was working on. We had had three other companies visit and he stood out for his professionalism and knowledge - he was the only person who a) observed that our house was built in 1937 and b) explained its long and likely history of poor roof choices, which led to c) his plan for a new system that would help the old girl finally breathe as she was originally designed to do. We wound up putting off the project due to the pandemic, so had a lot of time to consider our options. We decided that along with Klam's quality came peace of mind, and so secured them this winter. The team came out and finished in two days; were awesome and frankly we are still shocked by how clean the site was after they left; they did a great job of clean-up! Also have to say we so appreciated Katie in the office; she is highly communicative and we had a clear idea of schedule thanks to her. PS, this alone is another plus for Klam; two of the other companies we'd looked at went totally silent after their visit and one became super pushy. Total professionals here. Which brings me to another key point - Klam was one of only two contractors (of the four we interviewed) who were honest about the condition and cost. Now, we knew going into it that we had FOUR layers of roof up there - literally decades of previous owners doing their own DYI patchwork fixes. Really interesting/disturbing to observe that two companies told us there were only two layers, and casually mentioned "more" would be charged "if" they discovered extra. Klam was the only company who said straight up, "There are four layers, and here is what it will cost." We of course opted for their clear, no surprises estimate. Kit explained that because the fascia is connected to the roof, it would be more costly to repair it now and suggested that it would be more cost effective to wait until the roof was replaced. He said that the fascia wasn't a structural issue so waiting made more sense. We appreciated Kit's honesty and his consideration for a less expensive solution. He also used his drone to inspect our roof to determine whether it needed replacing soon. He said we could wait a few years to do so. About a year ago, we had Redbird Roofing replace our garage roof and our garage door and front porch steps. They worked very quickly and did a great job. The manager even came out after the job to help us with the garage door lock that wasn't working after the door was replaced. We've been very pleased with our experiences with Redbird Roofing.

Andy Johnston Construction (AJC) completed a whole house renovation of a house I bought in Fairway Village that was built in1985 and was pretty much original drab. I'm a senior citizen and needed/wanted a general contractor that would coordinate the entire project. AJC did just that. There were no delays, surprises or budget overruns. The 1300 sq foot house had 8 different types of ugly flooring. I now have two types - carpet and LVP. On the outside, AJC painted the exterior and trim, installed an adorable front door and replaced all windows. On the inside, the kitchen was gutted and new cabinets and appliances were installed. The master bath was gutted and a tub was turned into a delightful walk-in shower. Both bathrooms' vanities, toilets and fixtures were replaced. Lighting throughout was re-designed and updated and, of course, every room and the ceilings were repainted. Another project delight was the redesign/reface of an ugly fireplace that now has a gas insert that is remote controlled. AJC gave me a list of prior customers' who were happy to talk with me about their positive experience with their projects. Also, BTW, I had lived through two other kitchen & bath remodels with different contractors over the years and by far Andy Johnston Construction was the very best experience and outcome I have had.
