It was a pretty hot day, but one of the nicest things is that the park is primarily in the shade. There are two main playgrounds right next to each other. There is also a baseball field, soccer field, dog park, picnic table/pavilion area, and more! The entire park is really quite large. You like bikes, skate boards, roller blades, and anything else that puts wheels under your feet right? Well, what better way to guarantee physical injury with that kind of equipment than a skate park?! There is a skate park and large hill nearby. This is ideal for kids with plenty of energy to expense! Just be watchful and don't let them run too fast and tumble down the hill. What a fun discovery on my first visit to Wheaton! This is a very well maintained little course with some water features but none of the mechanical hazards you normally find at the larger courses. I enjoyed the nice landscaping and found this was a great way to pass an hour. When I was there, I saw a grandmother playing a round with her grandson and a young family following behind them. The price for a Wheaton resident is $5 for adults and $4 for children (15 years old or younger) and senior citizens. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my morning. This is very well hidden next to the train track so it is easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. There is also a skate park right next door that I did not try out because I would probably break a bone.

This is a great local park for skateboarding and BMX bikes. They have two different parks side by…read moreside for each! The skate park is in much better shape than the BMX course. I would love to see it repaired but it been this way for a while. They are both useable tho! Lots of parking and right next to downtown. They also have restrooms a few feet away (tho they have been closed recently) The skate park is made with rubberized ramps and the BMX course is all cement. Good times!

My recent visit to Audubon Skate Park was marred by an unsettling encounter with an individual…read morenamed Jake. While I strive to provide objective feedback, I cannot overlook the discomfort and unease his presence brought to the park. From the moment I arrived, Jake's behavior raised serious concerns about the safety and overall atmosphere of the skate park. His interactions with the young boys at the park were inappropriate and crossed boundaries of respect and decency. He seemed to prey on one young unsuspecting Asian scooter boy by questioning to integrity of his 'rizz'. After several attempts of plundering said rizz the boy gave in and hit the gritty. Jake then exclaimed, and I quote, "damn that jun bouncing". He made unwelcome comments that made many uncomfortable, tarnishing what should have been a positive and inclusive environment for everyone. He was overly innapropriate and seemed to be trying to seduce every boy he met. He kept telling them to 'hit the gritty' and he kept saying he wanted to 'plunder their rizz'. I found his behavior to be creepy and inappropriate. I stayed away from him as much as possible and I would definitely not recommend him to anyone. It is disheartening to witness someone like Jake using a community space to engage in inappropriate behavior and make others feel uneasy. Skating should be an activity that brings people together, fostering a sense of camaraderie and support. Unfortunately, Jake's presence detracted from that sense of unity, creating an uncomfortable environment for both the boys he targeted and other visitors. After countless 'no's' after being asked to 'hit the gritty' his seductive aura gave way to my rizz and I hit the fattest fucking gritty after which Jake said, "I know that shit grip, like its grippy and shit..."

It's right near the Glendale Heights fire department at Bloomingdale rd and Fullerton (I always hope they're bbqing so I can stop and ask for a bite when I'm starving post-run) and also near a school so beware of cops, they're always swarming the area. The park is nothing stunningly unique but it also isn't displeasing to the eye plus it's clean. Green fields, 2 play parks, some sporting fields, a skate park, a pond, and the only part I really care about-- paths to run on. I try to run for at least 30 minutes so I usually end up looping the paths in various patterns, it's mostly flat/nearly flat terrain but there are some hilly portions so that adds some variety (also, there are mile markers). Plenty of parking, benches along the path, this park has something for everyone. BTW, be kind to the geese during nesting season, they're just wanting their little ones to be safe.
