Alfred and his wife from the beginning kept in contact with us and worked with our HOA so that we were compliant with the rules. In one day our old cover was demolished and our new one completed. We decided to have them put up an outdoor fan with a light in it so that we could enjoy the patio in the evening as well as when the weather is hot. We also chose to have a screen put us to help the heat as well as the direct sun in the afternoon. The job was so professional and we just love how easy it was to work with them. I want to highly recommend West Coast Awnings and can't believe my luck at having chosen such a great company! They are a husband and wife team and from the moment I walked into their lovely store/showroom in Northridge, Monika was delightful and so helpful. She and Alfred guided me with a design in their Alumawood that was a best solution for me. Within a few weeks, a team of three men, great workers, came and carried out the demolition of the old rotting wood awning in my backyard, completed that in a day and hauled it off, leaving the place spic and span. At a later date, when the Alumawood was ready, Alfred coordinated everything and kept a very close eye on all the work which they installed in about 7 consecutive days. He repaired and replaced some areas of fascia and installed a closed ceiling above my dining area complete with 4 lovely lights on a dimmer and smaller LED lights throughout the rest of the awnings. He worked with another company that replaced my gutters and repaired some fascia at the front of my house. He made special trips to check in with this company and make sure everything was going well. I even said to him that this was above and beyond the call of duty! Alfred is a particularly nice man, very affable, kind, honest and knowledgeable. When it came to replacing our 40-year-old pergola in our Woodland Hills mid-century modern home, we were concerned about keeping the design aesthetic with a structure of excellent quality. We hoped to visit a showroom, to see our options. Searching around the Valley, we found West Coast Awning. Walking into the showroom, we were immediately struck by the variety and quality of pergolas, shades, lighting, materials, and architectural details. We were greeted by owners Monika and her husband, Alfred. They shared costs, construction techniques, and suggestions with us without hesitation. Alfred offered to come out for a bid right away, something we needed as we had a short time to make a decision. In our case, our old wood pergola ran nearly the length of our home, over 40 ft long and 10 ft wide. It had been removed in order to install a new roof. It was important to us to retain the original design. Alfred made it clear it could be reproduced and added design elements to improve the original design. After seeing the location and reviewing photographs of the old pergola, we received precise blueprint-like drawings within days. It was immediately clear that Alfred knew exactly what was needed. We were impressed with his construction techniques - welding steel tubing to plates mounted in the ground - and using steel fixtures to assemble the powder-coated aluminum. Alfred suggested adding solid insulated panels with downlights - to lower the heat during the day and illuminate the area at night. As we were leaving the area for a period of two months, Alfred had plenty of lead time to get the materials ready. However, we needed to be assured that when we came back, he would be able to install the new Pergola for us in a very narrow timeframe which he did exactly as promised. A week after the work began, the new pergola was installed. The work is excellent and, in fact, exceeded our expectations. To our surprise and pleasure, Alfred personally returned after the job was complete to repair a small detail in the brick deck. The job is --- just perfecct. read more

This review is a little late, we had west coast do our awning after getting a couple quotes, Alfred the owner actually came back out after the original quote and design to take a look himself and suggest some changes that would really make the ascetics of the awning look better- his guys came out and wow this is where I was impressed, they had a small army of guys and each installer had his own job, this was the most impressive part of the install as they were extremely efficient polite and cleaned up really well. Quote came in about equal to other quotes but the material west coast uses seems more durable (Dura wood) also they installed some electrical outlets for speakers and a ceiling fan over the dinner table. read more

During our meeting he was taking measurements, giving us recommendations and envisioning how everything would come together. We had some atypical requests (supports for a hammock, electrical outlets, lighting, and additional columns), and he was quick to figure out how to integrate everything into the design. The installation was fast and on schedule, and they took special care to make sure that everything was clean when they left. We considered wood, but almost everyone recommended aluminum for the best looking, lowest maintenance option. I was skeptical but the patio cover was put up 2 years ago and is still rock solid and looking like the day it was installed. I highly recommend involving Alfred if you're planning on building patio cover. Aesthetic tip, 4 columns may look better than 3 for any patio cover, even if it only needs 3 to hold the load. read more

We left the design decision to them and were impressed. We initially were concerned of the height but got used to it. We've received many complements from our neighbors on the job. About the work: They got it done quick. They worked with the schedule of the roofer which was very helpful! The only thing I wished they would've done is use one of those magnet things to pick up the tiny pieces of metal but i solved with a broom. This company has now done three projects for us and they are excellent. The first was a motorized retractable awning that nearly doubled the size of our patio. The quality was excellent and after 10 years everything still works perfectly. The second project was a complete patio cover. We installed it near the beach to replace a wood patio cover. They installed an alumni wood product and after 5 years, the patio still looks like new. We just wash it down when it gets dusty and it looks great! A month ago, we needed to cover an area where we store bikes. This time they custom fabricated an aluminum frame with a fabric shade. It's been great even in high winds and rain.
