My mom has a fascination with Segways and loved the tour she went on in DC. When a Groupon popped up for a super-discounted Segway tour a couple of weeks ago, I bought a couple in anticipation of her visit, and ended up going with her this past weekend along with my dad and the boyfriend. Segways are dorky, and tours are pretty much always corny. That said, this was pretty fun. It starts and ends at the Waterfront. I had never really explored Pioneer Square before, so I really liked that part. The tour included a stop at the Klondike Gold Rush Museum (the only indoor national park) as well as, of course, Pike Place Market. We got OUR pictures taken several times by Japanese tourists, so that was random. Unfortunately, this was super expensive, even with the two Groupons, so I don't know how much I'd recommend it per se, but if you feel like splurging (or your visiting family members do) definitely go for it. read more

We were visiting family in Seattle and we decided to try the Segway tour through West Coast Entertainment. We used Groupon and got the tour for half off. They even made it simpler by just honoring the Groupon price without us having to go through Groupon. Anyway, my wife and I were a little nervous about riding a Segway. Believe me, my wife has never done anything like this before and I was just hoping I would not look like an id**t riding (or falling off one). We learned to ride them in no time and in 20 minutes we were feeling like experts! My wife turned out to be a better rider than my son and I, probably because she is used to the "heel / toe" maneuvering when she wears heels. It is the most fun way to tour Seattle especially on a perfect summer day (yea we got lucky and no rain that day) and we would do it again in a heartbeat! I can't be the only one who has always dreamt of riding a segway right? Well West Coast Entertainment has fulfilled my wish! I bought tours for two of us on Groupon. We arrived at the West Seattle location 15 minutes prior to our tour as suggested and were the first ones there. The receptionist was very friendly and made conversation with us right as we walked in. The other half of our group was running late but our tour guide, Chris, helped us get all set up with equipment and a demonstration while we waited for the others. He was so enthusiastic and had us laughing the whole hour! He was super knowledgable about segways and the area. I watched in awe as he glided and swiveled effortlessly through the city. I was pretty nervous about balancing on the segway, but anyone can be a pro at it after just a few minutes on board. Even as Seattle natives, just about everything mentioned on this tour was new information to us and we felt like tourists in our own city. That being said, this tour is great even if you've lived in the Seattle area your entire life. We had amazing views of the Seattle skyline and rode through cute Alki neighborhoods. I was super satisfied with this tour to say the least! At half price I would say this is well worth the money. Doing the Segway tour by West Coast Entertainment was a novel and fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon sightseeing. This was our first time riding Segways. It was fun but a bit of a challenge getting used to them (maybe it was just us--other riders say it's super simple!). We also discovered muscles in our legs and butts that we didn't know were there, so it was a workout too! :-p Our guide, Tina, did a great job narrating the tour while her "helper," Eric did a nice job making sure we had a good time. The tour took us along the waterfront at Alki Beach Park, then up some steep hills through a nice residential neighborhood. We had an easy time booking an appointment, and overall the experience was very positive. We appreciated that they scheduled on a Sunday, a day they're normally closed. I have created a Segway-riding monster. I knew we'd have fun but I certainly didn't expect my bf to jump curbs and swerve around crowds as if he was on a skateboard. We bought a Groupon for the downtown Seattle tour and the "discounted' price of $82pp seemed about right for what we got. I can't imagine anyone paying $150 for this experience. There were only the 5 of us on the tour that morning so we got a personal tour of Seattle. I liked the headset as it allowed us to keep moving while learning about what we were seeing. We covered a lot of area and even went up a huge hill. Seattle is truly a beautiful place (especially when it doesn't rain) and I can't think of any better way to see the city than on a Segway. read more

My only issue is with the pricing. I used a Group On, so I'm okay with what we paid ($75 per person). I do not think the tour is worth the regular price ($150 + tax per person). My family and I went on the Segway tour in West Seattle in the afternoon on Saturday. It was a beautiful day, and they take you up and down the hill, and you get some time to ride off the pavement in a park. The staff was very accommodating in allowing us to reschedule two months earlier. Then on the day of the tour the staff went above and beyond in providing enjoyable experiences for each of us. We were all first-time Segway riders with varying degrees of comfort. My mother was quite timid & very slow initially, while my brother (who rides a motorcycle & behaves like a teenager despite being in his 20s) was pushing the limits from the second he stepped on the Segway. Despite these challenges, Rebecca, Tina and Dan were consistently professional and we all had a wonderful time. They have 1st & 2nd generation segways, the 1st generation are easier for newbies, but my Dad ended riding both and enjoyed each type. The 1st generation Segway turns when you rotate the handle, like a throttle on a moped, and it has a fixed pedestal. The newer version appears more nimble and turns when you lean, but can also be a tad more difficult to master right out of the gate. read more

Our guide was very upbeat, but still learning - so we had two guides. I liked how you had receivers with earbuds to hear the guide as you rode. I did not like being in turtle mode the whole time as it does push back after you reach a certain speed and make the ride uncomfortable. I've been on other Segway tours and there really isn't much to see in this West Seattle tour. This tour is also much shorter than most, even though it cost much more. Most tours are two hours and you get to stop to rest your "seg legs" part way through the tour. This tour was only an hour. One other thing is you have to go down a very steep hill which may be uncomfortable to beginning riders. Overall, everyone was very nice, but I'd spend my money on something else. read more

My boyfriend and I just went on the West Seattle 1-hour Segway tour earlier today, and had a fabulous time! A friend of mine had gone on a tour with the company for the longer tour, and they all had a great time. I've always wanted to try out Segways, so this was perfect! Tina and Rebecca were great guides, and even though I know a lot of Seattle trivia, I learned even more trivia from them. I had a fun time with their jokes and narration along the way from Tina (who is hilarious!). The West Seattle tour takes you through residential neighborhoods, down California Way SW, and along Alki Beach. We also had a lot of practice time before we started on the tour, which was great because there is a slight adjustment in the beginning for finding your center of balance. I had always thought of Segways as the lazy way, but you can actually get a slight core workout. It was a lot of fun and a lot faster to go up the hills. I highly recommend the Segway tours for West Coast Entertainment, for locals and tourists. There were 5 of us, all who live(d) in Seattle, and two of us in West Seattle, and we all learned a ton, were entertained by our guide, and have a new love of segways as a form of transportation! We recently did the West Seattle Segway tour. I purchased a Groupon for my fiance's birthday. He has always wanted to try out a Segway! We had an awesome time on them. The weather was amazing. It was also our first time exploring West Seattle. We didn't know about the amazing views of the water, downtown, etc. as well as some tasty restaurants and Aliki Beach! Chad was our guide who informed us with some fun history and facts about the area. It was pretty easy to learn how to handle the Segway too, nothing to be afraid of. We also learned about the Water Taxi that will get you over there from Downtown for $4 one way and you can take a free shuttle to the West Entertainment place. We ended up going back to West Seattle the next day to explore some more, taking the Water Taxi. Thanks for the great experience! read more

I did the West Seattle tour and while our guide was great, the fact that--apparently due to insurance requirements--the segways have to be in "turtle mode" (beginner mode: 6 miles/hour speed limit) the entire time made parts of the ride very uncomfortable. I have done many segway tours in various cities and while the slow mode is used by some companies in the beginning of the tour while people are getting accustomed to riding the segway, I have never encountered a tour where the segways have to be in beginner mode the entire time. It is a very uncomfortable way to ride, because when the rider hits the 6 miles/hour speed limit (which is easily reached, especially on downhill portions, which this tour included), the segway will "push back" until the rider slows down, resulting in a very uncomfortable situation, especially in downhill areas, as the rider feels like they have no control over the segway. I understand this is not the company's fault and it is required by insurance companies in Seattle, but this should be disclosed on the website or at least in the sign-up confirmation. Had I known we would be in beginner mode the entire time, I would have probably canceled the tour. read more

Review of the Seattle Segway Tour We are just getting back from our tour. We loved it! The prices are half as much as the person stated on a prior review (and we had a groupon as well). Tina was our guide and we thought she was funny and low-key. The segway was super cool and if just riding around on the segway WAS the experience, then it was worth it. It was a beautiful area and a great view of the space needle and downtown skyline (we did not actually go into the side of town with the space needle, etc). Fun little facts about the area of seattle and a look into an historical area that we'd never heard of...plus info about downtown. TIPS: I recommend print a the visual map on mapquest (there was construction and we got lost getting there...Tina also said GPS sometimes brought people to construction as well). Also bring a jacket if it's cool at all. Wear sturdy shoes. (the segway, esp on the lowest speed, is hard on the feet as you are constantly using your feet to balance and maneuver). This is not a tour for your fragile grandma or completely out of shape person. Im getting into shape and work out a lot and it was a challenge for my feet (although I do have some issues with tightness in feet). But by the end you are seriously cruisin on it and it's just cool! read more

This is a great segway tour for those who are novices at it. I have been on several segway tours, so it was slightly boring in terms of the fun factor with speed, but for my friend who was trying it for the first time, it was absolutely perfect. I was hoping for more info on West Seattle during the tour, but instead it was predominately about downtown Seattle. That would have been interesting if we had not already taken a Seattle tour. The views you get from west Seattle are stunning, great opportunities for photos, and the guide was very nice. If you're looking for the zippy/fast segway fun, then you might find the experience sedate but interesting; but for my segway-newbie friend, she thoroughly enjoyed it and was one of the highlights of her trip. She had the mega-watt smile at the end - that's what counts, right? The guide gave great instructions, time to practice for those who needed it, and happily answered all of our questions as well as take photos of my friend and I together - thank you! First tour where the guide used audio-packs (headphones & radio) for the tour - made it so easy to hear him clearly. I wish more tours did this - was great! Scheduling was a breeze, on-street parking available, and if you arrive early and need time to kill or want a quick bite afterwards - definitely recommend Circa pub/grille 1 block down (to the north, I believe). Subtracted 1 star for really only fantastic for newbies, and 1 star for lack of west Seattle info. If you're new to Segway'ing, then 4 stars. read more

I utilized their services for a team party and rented ping pong tables, air hockey tables and foosball tables....which they had to carry up to a 2nd floor area. We live here locally and have ridden Segways before in Mexico. We LOVE riding them! We were the only two customers that day at that time. We arrived early and the training was very quick because we have ridden them before. We ended up getting to do the part at Alki twice because we were ahead of schedule! Our tour guide was great, but I don't remember her name. We used a Groupon, so the price was very reasonable. We were also blessed with an 85 degree day, so it was perfect! I bought Groupons for WCE's Segway tour in West Seattle. The weather finally hit 70's and the tour WAS AWESOME. Our guide Dan and Roxy were super friendly and helpful. We were provided with helmets, bottled water and radio/headsets for the guided tour. In less than 10 min you can ride the segway like the mall cops! lol. We enjoyed beautiful view of the city from alki beach and explored some cozy west seattle neighborhoods as well. I've been to west seattle many times but was glad to find new view points from this tour. Get ready to enjoy all the attention from drivers and passerbys... they honk/scream/wave at you. Segways are fun! (and quite an exercise too!) It was supposed to be an hour tour but we were out for almost 2 hours which was awesome. I did the West Seattle Segway tour with six other friends (3 of us were super nervous about being able to balance on them-as it turned out there was no need as they stepped us through individually til we were comfortable)... David was great and very accommodating with trying to co-ordinate a day that suited all of us. Doing the tour in Autumn was amazing and just gorgeous!
