I'm a really active person and unfortunately blew my achilles a week and half ago. I found Dr. Dastgah after a bad experience with Sutter where I was given the runaround and pretty much told to wait weeks before even getting an ultrasound. I'm so lucky I did. Gretchen was able to get me in right away and Dr. Dastgah immediately splinted me and both of them went out of their way to get me into an MRI ASAP. For anyone who doesn't know, there is a small window for a ruptured achilles where surgery is an option, which allows you to eventually return to full mobility and athletic movement. If I hadn't found Dr. Dastgah and Gretchen, I would've been waiting still for Sutter would've lost the option for surgery which means I might have a limp and never be able to do explosive movements again. It's not hyperbole to say that finding Dr. Dastgah saved my life. To lose mobility in my right foot would've meant a loss of identity and mental health that would be hard to fathom. I'm so so lucky we found really wonderful people who did everything in their power to help me. If you have any type of foot issue, Dr. Datsgah is your woman, she loves her job and will go out of her way to help you. And Gretchen as been sent from the heavens to help make the insurance and appointment piece as easy as it possibly can be. Thank you so much you all for being magical people in my life right now. Even though I'm devastated that I'm looking at a 1 year recovery now, I feel so much safer and better knowing I'm in good hands. Good drs make a world of difference not just from a physical perspective but also from a mental health perspective, and in our current health care system, its so hard to be a good dr, so please come here and get the best care and support the drs and health care professionals doing an amazing job.

He prescribed me insoles for the plantar fasciatis - which literally worked miracles in a few days. It was so bad that I could barely walk when I got up. I probably should have gone in for the ingrown nails years ago, but it got to the point I couldn't stand to put on shoes, so I finally went. We did one foot at a time, which was a good idea - the first one was pretty painful, but the second went smoother. The numbing shots weren't fun, but he distracted me by chatting with me, and he was quick and efficient. In my four visits we had some interesting conversations. What sticks out to me is that in one he said he doesn't wear a white coat because he feels that it puts a barrier between him and his patient. I recommend him as a doctor, but he also has an amazing bedside manner. I felt like an individual - not just a patient. He really cared about me and my outcome.

I explained to him that what I thought was a "mole" had been there for most of my life. I actually had it examined by my PCP in the past, and they told me to watch it, make sure I didn't notice any changes in size, shape, diameter, etc. Which I have not, so I was not concerned about it. Dr. Robinson suggested that he do a biopsy. Of course, I was concerned about the procedure and wanted to know more, but I also agreed to have it. As I asked questions, he continuously spoke over me, cut me off, and I felt it was rude. I still listened respectfully. He explained that doing the biopsy was very important and that I would not be in any pain. I told him that I would prefer to have it done on my days off, since my job required me to stand and walk for long periods of time. I did not want to risk having discomfort. He went on to say that this was more important than worrying about work and that I would be "foolish" not to have it done. He told me that he's been doing this for over four decades, and it felt just like a "pinch" in which he "pinched" my skin to show me how little pain I would feel as if I were a three-year-old pediatric patient. After realizing that I would not have the biopsy done right away, he asked, "When will you have two days off in a row next week"? I pulled out my phone to check my work schedule. He said, "Look at me while I am talking to you and give me two days next week". I responded, "If you allow me to check my work schedule for next week to see which dates I am off, then I will let you know". At this point, I realized that I did not want to receive treatment from this provider. He had no empathy or compassion. He invalidated my concerns and feelings. He did not allow me time to give him dates that worked for me. He basically pressured me into making an instant decision, and the decision had to be one that he was comfortable with, not me. To make matters worse, when I attempted to speak up for myself and ask questions regarding the process, recovery, etc, he told me to be quiet, or he would walk out of the room and not return until I was quiet. He stated, "I usually cuss at my patients when they don't listen, but I will not cuss at you". I responded, "That will be wise for you not to". I have been in the healthcare field for over eighteen years and have worked throughout the USA. I was flabbergasted by this physician's lack of professionalism. Needless to say, I will not be returning. I called the office and informed the clerk, Jai, who was really professional, of my experience during my visit, and that I would not return due to his lack of respect towards me and his attitude while providing care. As a medical provider, you have a code of conduct you should follow, which serves as a framework for professional behavior, ensuring that you prioritize the health and well-being of your patients. Forcing your "new" patient to make a decision instantly, using fear tactics to do so, speaking to them in a condescending tone and manner, disregarding their concern for pain based on their pain threshold and possible physical/work limitations, and threatening to abandon care and use profanity when you can't "make" them do what you want based on your time frame, not there's is unacceptable behavior and it crosses the line. I am grateful that I have emotional intelligence and was raised as a Christian by parents who taught me to treat all people equally and with love and respect. This man needs to retire. He does not deserve the title, "doctor". I do not recommend him to anyone. ***I will also like to add....for those of us who have experienced unfavorable treatment or prejudice based on race, gender, age, and/or disability, or have just been disrespected..do not allow that person's poor behavior to deter you from seeking proper medical treatment elsewhere. I do plan to follow-up with a different provider and specialist.

The appointment and the X-Ray process were so smooth. The Los Gatos staff were extremely nice and friendly. They have X-Ray and ultrasonic equipment on-site, which is a great convenience. I was tolerating a severe pain and swollen ankle the entire night, with overthinking such as "Would my bone be fractured? Would I never go back to gym?""Would I need to lay on a bed for 1-3 months?" After X-Ray and ultrasonic, as well as Dr.Chen performed pressure check on different points, he thoroughly explained and educated me about the situation: it is an organic sprain. All bones, joints and ligament are perfectly fine. Dr.Chen showed me and suggested me to record how to use KT tape. No prescriptions, no more exams, but good suggestions on which exercises would help the recovery as well as certain shoes to wear during the period. Thank you so much for having me in such a professional, accessible and friendly place!

I'm writing this review to share my experience with this clinic to hopefully save others from…read morepotential danger. If you are considering making an appointment here, please read on before doing so: I was experiencing quite a bit of pain from my ankle due to inflammation coming from a bone spur. I called a few places before this clinic, but as expected, no one could see me right away, as their schedules were already booked for at least a few days. When I called this place, they said they could see me right away (perhaps that isn't a good sign). But due to the pain, and because there seemed to be quite a lot of positive reviews here, I decided to visit the clinic. After a very hasty evaluation, Dr. Guan had very quickly concluded that I needed surgery to repair the problem, claiming that I needed to remove the bone spur and repair a torn ligament. He urged me to do book the surgery ASAP, within a few days, because he didn't want things to get worse. He scared me enough to go ahead and move forward with booking the pre-surgery consultation. I went home that day obviously very disappointed by the news, but after speaking with my wife and some friends, they had all advised me to seek a second opinion. I also looked into taking care of the inflammation myself for the time being, using ice and voltaren (something that Dr. Guan never even mentioned or suggested). After two days of just simple at-home treatment for the inflammation, the swelling went way down, and the pain began to dissipate. After about a week, my foot was back to normal, and I had no pain at all, and resumed all of my usual activities (running, jump roping, etc). I did go in for a second opinion at another clinic, and this doctor was much more thorough with his evaluation, much more kind and patient, and his conclusion was drastically different. He explained that there was no need for surgery at all, and moreover, the determination to have surgery to repair a torn ligament should be made after at least taking an MRI, which Dr. Guan didn't do. In addition, he performed a number of mobility and strength tests to evaluate this ligament in question, and let me know that I wouldn't be able to pass certain tests if the ligament was indeed torn. Finally, I showed him a picture of the ultrasound that Dr. Guan took, and he explained to me that there was no evidence of a ligament tear. There are a number of reviews here that label this clinic as a "money trap" and that is highly accurate. Dr. Guan prioritizes making money over the care of his patients, and it seems that he may even do this at the cost of his patients well being (I would have been a victim to this, had I proceeded with the surgery). I am leaving two stars instead of one because his receptionist/front desk is very friendly and helpful. But if the review was for "Dr." Guan alone, I would give negative stars if I could. I hope this review will help prevent future mis-diagnoses and shady practices from occurring in the future at this clinic.
