I am still sitting here amazed as I review Roy from West Coast Locks. I had a strange situation of a door closing and not opening, with suddenly locks that were non- key responsive. Roy arrived about 10 minutes after I placed the call. I don't know if he was sent by the answering service or by god up above. Roy was amazing and quickly narrowed down the root of the problem from many options. He was professional and downright well-spoken and a true gentleman. Got charged 500$ for a replacement key fob. The guy quoted me over the phone 150dollars and said maybe a little more if it needs reprogramming. Didnt recieve a recepit, gambled on price with his phone asked me to place my finger on his phone for a lower price by playing a color game. The man took a picture of my ID and said it was part of the service i asked for his name at the end and he said Ryan. But he didnt look like a Ryan or didnt feel comfortable sharing his name. Now i am a bit more concerned due to identity theft and cyber crime. Hope someone from there company reaches out to confirm prices and assure my ID picture is safe and this game/ gamble this guy had me do for price negotiation was part of the company policies or even allowed. read more

The phone number on their website keeps changing if you update it/go incongnito... anyways, I called this morning to get a locksmith to come out, a boy named Daniel showed up in a benz SUV. My front door handle had to be replaced because a piece had broken off internally. Long story short, I had the parts ready. He on the spot quoted me $899 -- absolutely not. We asked how long it would take him (I'm guessing less than 2 hours), he said he didn't know, and that they don't charge by hour, they charge by project. I said no thanks and he said I have to pay a $89 service consultation, also no. Asked him to leave and I ended up calling another locksmith that quoted me $160 for the job. Call your local small business, they'll be much better and much nicer. read more

Based on "CALL FOR FREE ESTIMATE" on website, I called and asked for estimate over the phone, dispatcher insisted on locksmith calling me, who said "i'll be there at 3:30." I repeated that I just wanted an estimate for installation of keypads. "I can't give you a estimate without seeing what I need to do." Locksmith arrives 15-minutes late, looks at doors, offers estimate of $420 per lock (I need three.) When I said 'OK well we can't do that today," He asked "how much money do you have. you could have used google to find out the price." I said "we have $100. I said I wanted an estimate, no obligation" He said "You could have used the internet to see that they cost more than that.why didn't you tell me you only had $100 on the phone, I wouldn't have come. You didn't tell me this information." THEN says "can you give me some money for coming here" and offers me a venmo-QR code. $45 to get him to leave. AFter he left, I realized it was a personal venmo. I should not need to explain how offensive this exchange was, nor how uncomfortable I was as a woman home alone, and now that guy knows where I live. I called customer service immediately to clarify situation and ask for a refund; I was told my case would be escalated to a manager who would call me back. That was 30-hours ago, still no call back. This whole operation is baloney; do not believe their "family owned" BS, it's just a huge dispatch agency outsourcing to anyone and everyone without any oversight. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Very expensive. I asked for a quote and was told they need to see the lock first then will provide a quote. The tech stopped by and provided a quote for 3 locks. First two keys worked then he worked on the third key and told me he is not able to change it and needs to install a new handle and cylinder that will cost more. I asked if can just keep the old key and he said the old lock and key no longer works. At the end I nearly paid $500 for 3 key and a basic handle. I definitely did not appreciate the lack of communication, I felt the third door situation left me with now choice but to accept the service and pay more. I asked for a discount and was offered $35 of credit at the end. As I was signing the bill I saw the tech came from another company called Jonny key Locksmith not West Coast Locksmith. Asked and the tech said they are the same company. I will not utilize this company in the future more recommend it. read more

Sean and his partner (didn't catch his name) did a great job at my office. Very professional service and great installation on an electric commercial door locking system. They even went to the trouble of crawling under the building to run the wire thru the crawl space when I was happy to have had the short exposed run ( about 18 inches of exposed white wire) stapled to the white base board. Not taking short cuts is rare these days. They cleaned up on completion of the job and I am very happy. read more

My little sister locked herself out of the house . She called this company so they can unlock the door for her. The person refused to give an estimate or quote over the phone. She even offered the send a picture of the lock so she can get an estimate. The man insisted on in person price quote to see the lock.when he came he told her $285 and was pushy . She said ok. After he was done, which took him 2mins. He charged her an extra $95 for service call. I was upset when I found out . I called the same guy pretending to be someone else and asked for a quote before his arrival . Which he gave me one without asking for a picture of the lock. He said he can do it for $80. They wouldn't tell me the price over the phone just said "depends how difficult" I think they don't say the price because if they did I would have said nevermind and they know that because it took him 2 minutes to open the door. Im locked out of my car i asked how much before we initiate service. They insisted the "technician" must SEE in order to PRICE the service. The man showed up in an UNMARKED carovan and priced me at $135. i told him i didn't want the service he began to try to extort me for gas money. I was going to give him $20 but his attitude was so bad i said $10 in this city thats 2 gallons of gas he said i dont need your money and drove away. Transparency from the beginning would have prevented this. If i could rate 0 stars i would. technician came out to program a new key to my car bc the original was lost. then he worked on it for like 40 minu or so then said sorry i couldnt program a new key for you, so i asked him if the original will still work if i just get it back & he said yes it should. next day I got my original keys back. And they didnt work. Called technician he tried to blame it in my car saying its a problem with it and lied to me about it basically telling me yeah ur original key will work but it never did. Absolutely do not use this company, they are a scam. The technician came out and said he could not pick the lock despite it being a very simple deadbolt. He had to drill through it, did not go through the prices with me until after drilling, and of course had to replace the locks afterwards. He did not write the invoice until after replacing them, and by then it was $795. Total scam and he even damaged my door when drilling. read more

They would not tell me a price before the job, the worker did a good job at opening my car but it definitely wasn't worth $350, the job only took 15 minutes and it was a very simple job (pumping up my door and flicking the switch). I wasn't told a price until after the service was performed so I was forced to pay. had I known the price prior I would of not had the service done. I could of ubered to a hardware store, gotten the inflatable shims for 20 each, ubered back and did the job myself and I still could of done it in the same amount of time for cheaper. Then when I tried to dispute the price the worker told me that they would need to usually drill out my lock and because he did it with shims he tried to make it seem like he saved me money --Just stop that nonsense its a 1999 cr-v with a 24 year old lock. If you are thinking of going with these guys just know you will expect to pay upwards of $350. Because these guys will not tell you a price until the job is done. All the worker did was text someone the make and model of my car (the same info I gave the guys over the phone btw so there was no reason why I wasnt able to get a quote) and the guy pooped out a random number. I saw some great reviews and a young man arrived within half an hour which was good, but I soon felt ill at ease when I got no estimate on the phone- l was told that was unprofessional." He arrived and gave an estimate to rekey a new home over $400. From a quick google search I knew that was crazy high and said No. BTW this young man asked me what I did. I felt he was sizing me up for a price. I was a single woman living in a 55 plus community so... I just said in was retired. When I refused his service he asked what I would pay. I said the most was 300 for 3 doors. He made a call and spoke in another language. I later asked why no logo on his van. He said he worked got himself. I felt there was a disconnect going on and that I was concerned as I was reading the comments which I didn't see before ( obviously). He assured me he'd do a great job and his estimated time of 90 minutes was actually 25 at most. I got job done quickly and happy he quickly dropped $100 from price and gave me extra keys, BUT it did have a shady feel to it with unmarked van, calls in another language, and asking me about my work. Just saying. That's what I'd improve. Have a price and state it. Haggling doesn't seem professional as you say you are by not giving a range on the phone. $350 for car door unlock. Door that he used the balloon now seems to have permanent breeze coming through when driving. Driver didn't even have a drivers license and had issues getting into where I had my car. Just sign up for triple A and get them to come unlock. There are other private locksmiths that will do it for way cheaper I found out. Takes about the same time too. read more

Lost my car key for my Subaru , called this company they sent out someone here to my house , guy was here from 6-11pm said it would take 1 hour. Comes back another 2 hours next day and completely just didn't care for my car said something's wrong with my car and to deal with it but I still paid 400. Daniel arrived on time and completed the job quickly but damaged our door frame in the process even though he guaranteed no damage. Charged a very high rate of $250 before he even started his crude job. His process involved jamming various keys and banging it into the lock by using a screwdriver handle as a makeshift mallet before jamming a spade in the frame to get the door opened. The lock also now has a strange ping sound that wasn't there before. Daniel was about to drill through our lock and leave the door without a lock until I reminded him that he said he would get the job done without damage. the locksmith who came out was very nice and did his job, but EVERYTHING was overpriced. Charged $399 for house locking, though I thought he said $299 (still a high price). The deadbolt wasn't locked, all he did was break the door handle. Then another $399 charge for a new door knob plus install with a cheap door knob. Not worth calling. I understand pricing is dependent on the situation but this company is absolutely ridiculous.I was locked out of my house at 730am and it's freezing outside. I called this company to let them know I also have an outside gate that they would have to get through as both keys were inside my house. I was first told 15 minutes and then the technician let me know it was gonna be closer to 30 min. Which was fine. Once the technician arrived he was telling me he would need to drill a hole through my gate lock to get it open.... Which already seemed like a big red flag, before he did any work he quoted me nearly $700 to open my gate and unlock my house. Not only did I spend an hour freezing outside waiting for this company then once they arrive they tell me it's gonna be 700$ dollars and they have to drill a hole through my lock. This is a bogus lock company, and for there pricing to be this steep to drill a hole through a lock, I could've done that myself. BEWARE of EXTREME price hiking, inflated/false invoicing, & high pressure tactics! I do not typically write reviews, but seeming as management will not call me back I am writing this here for others to beware of. My new apartment has a front door handle that auto locks (see pictures). When leaving this morning the door closed behind me before I realized I forgot to grab my keys. Please note this is a simple auto lock lever handle. It was not the deadbolt or complicated system. Now locked out of my apartment with only my phone I search for an emergency locksmith as my building management wasn't available for another 2 hours. I called West Coast Locksmith at 7:14am, locksmith arrived by 7:54am. The locksmith assessed the type of lock and says he needs to grab a "special" tool from his car as it's a commercial lever handle, so he does, comes back up and slides the tool under the door to grab the lever (note: my door handle from the inside just needs to be pulled down and it pops open). While ALREADY in the process he says "This is going to cost $350 now" which left me understandably baffled. I ask why is the cost so high to essentially pull the lever down to which he CLAIMS the tool is "one time use tool" that breaks and the tool (as stated by him) costs $200+. LOL. I google the tool & it averages $30-$40; the most expensive one I could find was $62. ALSO it is NOT a one time tool. The only part of it that *might* get damaged during use is the wire/cable, which you can buy a replacement of for $4 (see pictures for ref). So there is no need for me to pay for a the tool itself, IF ANYTHING, maybe a replacement wire which again is ONLY $4. By the way- he couldn't seem to do latch on the handle & gave up after 2 minutes. And alas the tool was also NOT broken as he predicted it would be. The wire was thinned a little, but again you can buy a replacement wire for $4. He instead then tries WD40 and jimmy's the lock which within 1 minute works and we're in. Why he didn't start with the WD40 and jimmying the lock as a first option? I have no clue. Probably to charge me for the "$200 tool that can only be used once" lol. ALL IN ALL - No damage. No lock replacement. Only 5 minutes total of labor. Which is all great... EXCEPT FOR THE FACT OF THE RIDICULOUS UPCHARGE of $350. To which I was very vocal about asking to speak to management before paying, however he pressured me, refusing to leave until payment was made while also insisting he needs me to hurry up so he can "get on with his day and needs to leave asap". He makes me Zelle him (to an LLC not the same name as the company) the full $350 and said to take it up with management after so he can leave. Already stressed due to the circumstances, I was also going to be late to work so I gave in and paid and agreed to contact management after he had left. I have called and each time they have "passed the message to management", yet I have not received any contact back still. This is infuriating and feels like I was taken advantage of. Being a young woman alone in this situation with a man didn't help. BEWARE of their EXTREME price hiking and pressure tactics and false/vague invoicing untrue to the labor performed. Also note that it's practically impossible to get in touch with management. Perhaps it was just this specific employee that runs a racket, however seeming as no word back from management still, it feels it may be the company in its entirety. Ridiculous. read more

Our HOA building's fire-rated trash room door needed repairs. Over the years they were beat up by the heavy trash bin being banged into the doors by the trash company, and they no longer fully closed. The door handle also needed to be replaced. Omir from West Coast Locksmith showed up on time. He gave us a very reasonable estimate and we scheduled for the repair. Omir and Sol (I hope I'm spelling their names correctly) performed the repairs to our satisfaction. They took extra time to make sure the repaired doors functioned properly and latched. Over the years, we have hired many vendors to do different work, and it is always a great sign when they take extra time to clean any debris from their work before leaving the site.
