I purchased keys from a KeyMe kiosk at Ralph's that didn't work when I got home so I was very disappointed. I looked at Apple Maps and found American Lock and Key and drove over there to have keys made. When I arrived I was greeted by a friendly staff member named Rosa. Rosa made me a number of keys and they worked absolutely great. She knew what she was doing and she was so friendly and professional. I wanted to say that I was very impressed with this store. They have so many items for sale, such as keys, locks, keychains, safes etc. The location is easy to find on Ventura Blvd with easy parking. I would highly recommend this business. Zero customer appreciation or service. We used them a year ago to replace a lock on our front door and were charged $289. A year later we are still having problems with the lock so I called for a follow up service call to adjust the door or lock so that it worked properly. We waited 2 hours for the service man to arrive and at 1hour and 45 minutes we got a call telling us that it would be $150 and unless we agreed to that no one would come out. We expected to pay for a service call $65 (now they want $75) but also thought that as a previous customer with the other services and safes we have purchased over the past 20 years they would have made the necessary adjustment on the lock they installed. I would not recommend this company! Our handyman came over and fixed the problem in less than 5 minutes. read more

I had the worst customer service experience here. I called to have my car key replaced. I was quoted for 2 different options. I arrived and Eddie the worker was there and he showed me a key from maybe 10 feet away. I saw it was a key that resembled my car key that had the alarm I said yes. Mind you, he just said from a far is this what you want. I then pay about 90+ dollars at the end when my key is done. Which I'm like ok this is fine I guess I just got a spare. The reason why I'm writing a bad review is not for the key which I must say I had trouble with and so I came back to see if they could fix the issue I eventually got another key made and Javi was great. Eddie was arguing with me saying that he gave me an option right in front of me as a customer was waking in as well. My husband was asking if we could pay the difference for a key with the alarm since they did make a new key and he said no. He said no. I said ok, I left it at that. I told him it's fine it's over, but I'm not sure why he started arguing with me saying his manager was there when he sold me the key. I told him it's fine, and he kept going! I truly hope the manager remembers that he was no where near me. But like I said it wasn't the key that was the issue the key was fixed it was the Horrible customer service that I encountered. Came to the store to duplicate a key for my Honda Pilot. Was told by the dealer that it's a special key with a chip and only they would be able to duplicate it, but wanted to charge over $200 for the key and programming. Stopped at the store and was told by the gentleman behind the counter that he can do it, and the price that he quoted was less then half of the dealer's price. My sister was unable to open her front door this evening. It was 11:00pm. Since I used their services previously and was very happy with them, I phoned LA Locksmiths. A technician answered the phone & said he would be right over. He arrived a few minutes later & worked for two hours replacing the 35-year-old doorknob and also added a double deadbolt lock which had to be custom fitted to a double door. The installation required more skill than usual because both doors had play in them from numerous earthquakes and 35 years of wear & tear. After several adjustments, both doors were rock solid when the work was completed. The technician made sure both of us were able to use the locks on the doorknob and the deadbolt, before leaving at 1:00am. Do yourself a favor. Call LA Locksmiths. Due to new safety regulations we had to turn one of the rooms at the office into a "safe room", meaning that in case of emergency this room would be locked and it would be inaccessible from outside. We called several locksmiths to get an idea on how to go about it and to get some estimates. Nothing sounded reasonable. Then, luckily, I called Nir and the next day we had our "safe room" ready!
