Kind, patient, and clear with their instructions, which makes the classes feel accessible while still challenging. The front desk staff are friendly and welcoming, which sets the tone right away. I took the 45m bands class. But I didn't know bands weren't included? I was never given a band and it seemed like a BYO bands, which is kind of weird. Never experienced that before. I first heard about WCS through a friend, but LB was a little far for me coming from Torrance. Then my life had me coming out to LB 3 days a week and I needed to find a way to kill some time out there. I saw that they offered a 10am 90min hot yoga class on Thursdays, which worked out perfect for me and my schedule. After taking Anna's class in the Spring of '22, I was committed to attending this class every week. I would've attended more if they offered that time on other days! I have been doing Bikram hot yoga on and off since my mid-20's (I'm in my early 40's now). Anna's class was challenging, but her voice and guidance throughout the class was like a guided meditation. Something I needed for my anxiety. I took a break during ivf treatments and came back a few months later to Hobey teaching this 10am class. And I'm so grateful! He can make us laugh while struggling through a pose and just has a way of making class fun. I have since brought my mom (who is now a regular with me) and my cousin to this Thurs 10am class and we all love it! I have inquired about adding more late morning hot yoga classes, but as of now, between their 2 studios they only offer this one and one at 10:30am on Sat at LB as well. The late morning time slots are almost all IHP. Driving from Torrance and San Pedro, this late morning time provides us time to properly hydrate before class, it allows us to miss the school and work traffic, and as a former night shift worker (my husband still works nights) it allows me to still get an adequate amount of sleep. I also want to mention that the staff here and at their Hermosa location are all so sweet and welcoming. I ended up having lots in common with the owner, Rosa, and we've bonded over similar life experiences. She had me practice the pregnancy series during my last ivf round and I am currently pregnant and continuing the pregnancy series in class! It just feels like a home away from home. I hope they add another late morning yoga class to either of their studios, since my mom and I go to both! read more

This was my first time at this studio. Everything was great, from the easy check in process (you can do online), to the awesome teacher, and the nice studio. Felt clean and well cared for and the room was nice and hot (which is a goos thing when you love Bikram). Liliana was the instructor and she was very welcoming and amazing during class. They have a great variety of other classes that I hope to try but I highly recommend the Bikram class. I also loved that the had music on in the background, this really made time fly by. I have joined the Long Beach Bikram family. I have practiced at a few other studios and really like the vibe here and the instructors. The class is smaller, people are generally respectful at end of class. There are changing rooms and bathrooms and you can buy water there and other juices. Rosa ans her team are great at what they do and love it. I appreciate coming here even with my long drive to the studio, it's worth it. Only downfall is that there are no showers so I have to plan a trip home if going to work so I can't go in the AM. Love this place read more

I've taken a couple of classes here and I love it. The instructors are pretty cool. Only thing I hate is that you cannot be late, they will lock you out even if you're 10 min late. I've been practicing yoga for over 20 years, specifically hot yoga since 2010. After falling ill a couple of years ago and recent surgeries (last one in March), I'm proud to say I'm back at it. My ailments are giving me a run for my money, but the heat helps my body move in ways I otherwise couldn't without intense pain. If you think you can't do it, try it. With the right motivation and positivity you can truly improve your physical, mental, and emotional well-being with this practice. This studio is clean, organized, has a large yoga room, and easy parking. I gave 4 out of 5 stars in order to bring awareness of one instructor. I come to yoga to let it go and focus on my well-being. Instructor: Don't focus on what individuals AREN'T giving you. Focus on what we ARE giving. The one (and only) instructor who I'm referring to actually made statements like "don't be lazy", "if you didn't tell me about something [ailment] before class you can't during". She is the reason many quit and never go again. She is the reason I went somewhere else. This is the ONLY instructor in my years of practice who leads in this negative manner. Positivity is more motivating, just ask FRANCISCO, MAYU, HOBEY, and MELISSA. They are phenomenal teachers and motivators! ... I haven't experienced every instructor, but I'm sure there's plenty more. read more

The Long Beach Bikram Yoga staff are friendly, supportive and detailed in their instruction to students as we are guided through our postures. It's official..I'm totally addicted and a fan of hot yoga! After working through the first two challenging classes because I was new performing yoga in a heated room...I found myself wanting to go back for more and more! I must say that this particular studio is clean and the instructors are respectful, encouraging, attentive, nurturing, helpful and very friendly. They have been nothing short of wonderful to me and to my fellow yogis, when I have been there--both in and out of class. I believe that's why this studio is so popular and people keep coming back. I enjoy pushing my limits and practicing mind over matter to get stronger and also help boost my overall well-being. I have a very full and demanding job and home life, so going to hot yoga is my little retreat. I find comfort in the structured and repetitive 90 min. yoga session routines. The 26 poses and doing them twice might be the only constant and predictable thing in my life at this point. I needed that for my own mental health and physical strength as well. No matter if it's the 75 min. or the 90 min. hot yoga--or the 60 min. hot pilates classes...there is a sense of zen, empowerment and motivation that is demonstrated and felt by members who choose to be a part of that community. There is a sense of accomplishment by participants at the end of each class. There is a natural high during and after classes. It's AMAZING! I plan to continue down this path by having this practice at the Bikram Hot Yoga Long Beach studio as being a part of my world--for the unforeseen future. I came here while visiting some relatives to get my bikram fix! The studio location itself is very pretty. It's right on the marina and looks out onto the water and boats. The inside is not as great. There are no locker rooms, it's cramped, there are only mirrors on one side of the room (rather than the customary 2 sides), and the yoga room kind of smells, the way that boot camp or kickboxing studios often smell. This is not a huge surprise but it was disappointing and distracting. the studio I go to in northern California doesn't have vinyl mats and doesn't smell at all. Maybe I'm spoiled. read more

Tried west coast sweat in Long Beach. Liked the variety of classes and the instructors, but an odd layout. They have two bathrooms (no showers) for the entire studio, one is located IN the room where you practice so you see yogis walking from the restroom straight onto the mat without sandals; no very sanitary. It also feels like they nickel and dime you with the $1 charge for water. Granted, it's PH water, but a hot yoga studio shouldn't charge water. read more

After NINE MONTHS (?!!) I STILL can't say enough great things about this wonderful place and its amazing instructors AND the feeling of a true "community" of great people. I have met some of THE nicest people practicing at Bikram Long Beach - what a nice surprise. "BEGIN WHERE YOU ARE" is the mantra here. This is not an easy practice, by any means. But every instructor is skilled, patient, honest, and extremely KIND as they help their students - new and seasoned - feel our way through the classes and help us to not feel like it is too overwhelming to come back for more. Their acknowledgement and enthusiasm during class when you (finally!) nail a pose really means a lot, as does their sense of fun and keeping the communication light and humorous. I also love that NONE our instructors are into "performance art." They GUIDE the classes as opposed to showing off. If they practice with the class (which is always a treat - I "copy off of their paper" whenever possible for improving my form), they are "one of us" and it's really fun. What's really cool is that, since you are practicing the same 26 poses in each class, you can see RESULTS and improvements as time goes by, and seeing your own progress (as well as the progress of your fellow students) is inspiring. We all cheer each other on - how great is that? I LOVE the morning classes; a great jump start to your day. It also "feels" like it's cooler - which could be my own coping mechanism (ha ha) when I take an early class. If you have been avoiding this adventure (as I had for the past 10 years), do yourself a favor and TRUST that it will be the best new workout and commitment to your well-being - both physical and mental - and a terrific opportunity to "detox" a few times every week. ** JUST REMEMBER TO HYDRATE BEFORE (30 minutes), DURING, AND AFTER CLASS to avoid any "hangover" feelings later. I have found that adding electrolytes, sea salt, and lemon to my water makes ALL the difference. No more waiting in line to sign in or up and you get to use the time you budgeted to get there early to actually set up and relax before your practice. Best of all, unlike most yoga places, if you buy a package you have a year to use it. Then if you dont use it in a year all you have to do is buy another package and it will NOT expire and can be added on. I think this is awesome because most places and the previous owner was a real stickler for package dates. If you didnt use them in 30 day no matter the circumstances your money was gone :( Side Note: When I first started attending here about 8 years ago it was slowly going down hill. There was hardly anyone in the classes, it smelled and didn't have the best vibe. It was the only Bikrim place so I just said whatever. Since Rosa took over she has transformed Bikrim Long Beach into a phenomenal studio and her love for it, shows. Her classes have higher attendance and the place has vibrant energy. People now come from all over. Additionally, Rosa even does practitioner appreciation things, such as one night she hired a Taco guy who gave out fresh tacos and juices for all the Yogis who attended that night. WHO DOES THAT??? Rosa does. Rosa also teaches and practices here weekly, so if you want to know the owner, you have the opportunity to do so often. I've heard a lot of good things about bikram yoga so when I saw a groupon deal for this place, I bought it right away. I live five minutes away so it was very convenient for me. This was my first time trying bikram yoga and the first class was hard, but after a few I was really enjoying it. The studio is located in the Marina Pacifica plaza. Go down the stairs inbetween best buy and chipotle and it is on the left. It's right next to the water and the boats. Studio is pretty small. They don't have a locker room/lockers but they do have two changing rooms. The instructors I have done the class with were all pretty nice...except for 1(forgot her name). You can schedule a class by calling them, online, or through their app..pretty easy. The only thing that bugged me was that they didn't have a beginner's class after 6:30pm. I was only able to do the classes when I was working remote or on the weekend. For those who have not been to a bikram yoga class.. 1. Bring A LOT of water. If you have those bottles that keep the water cold, bring those. They recommend drinking water 30 minutes before class. It definitely makes a difference in keeping you hydrated. My boyfriend had a headache the whole day after because he didn't hydrate. 2. Bring a towel. If you don't want to be slipping on your sweat..this is key. They do rent out towels and mats! 3. Only you know your body. It is a 90 minute class if your body needs a break then give it a break. Your body is not used to being in this kind of environment for a long time. I was pretty nervous about my first class, but right when I walked in everyone was super friendly and positive. It's been more than 12 years since my last yoga class and I'm definitely out of shape, but I felt encouraged by the instructors and other students. I love it. This studio is awesome! Staff is friendly and super accommodating. I'm a runner/learning how to surf and I have to say, bikram yoga has significantly improved my mobility and recovery time. Also, mentally it is challenging to sit in a hot room, drenched in sweat, and try not to leave/drink your entire water bottle within the first 20 min of class. The instructors at West Coast Sweat push you to resist malproductive thoughts that limit your practice. So, I feel that both mentally and physically I'm healing. Well if you ever wanted to have a slight idea of what Hell feels like this is an introductory. Yes, this place gets a lovely 4 stars because really I did like it. I have never been to an actual Yoga class so I dived in with hot yoga as the first go around. This was a crazy gift for my boyfriend on his birthday. He had been wanting to try yoga so this was part of the day's celebration. Now let me say, It was hard for me to pick a place. I looked at many reviews of other private places that made me feel I should have went there. But I figured hey why not try it and my finally friend urged me to try THE original Bikram. Even though a lot of the reviews said this place was stinky and unbearable with funk, I was just hoping for the best. When we arrived the lady who is also the instructor was very helpful. We totally looked liked new Yogi's with our Yoga mats still wrapped in plastic. As soon as I walked in, the heat felt like I wanted to pass out. It was heavy heat, but you could still breathe through it. We made our position to the back of the room. As we worked through the moves the instructor was very attentive to us to make sure we were doing the moves correctly. About 10 minutes in my cute workout clothing was drenched in sweat and I was wiping sweat to prevent it from falling in my eyes. I kept taking short breaths because I was secretly thinking about this stench everyone spoke of. But to my surprise with my super sensitive nose I did not smell anything bad. I suppose maybe the smell came from when they carpet. But the studio now has nice hardwood floors which I am sure are a lot easier to keep clean and stench free. Now 30 minutes into the class, I'm looking around trying to figure out how the rest of the class is not laying on the floor. I'm giving the death stare at the clock thinking when will this be over? NO! 60 more minutes! So, since I'm not a punk, I just grumble and keep moving. I'm moving but very slow I must add. I keep going and guess what? It's actually getting better. I can tolerate the heat a bit more. At this point I'm thinking I can hang for another 15 minutes. Well guess what I actually did the full 90 minutes and I survived without passing out. Although there were times I thought I wanted to give up my body amazingly just went with it. I was actually proud of myself at the end of it all. And the next day I still felt great. When we left breakfast was part of the plan and thank goodness the place we went had outdoor seating so we were not too ashamed to go eat with our completely drenched clothing. Please know you WILL have wet clothing. There is no way around it. A locker room with a shower would be well welcomed after this type of class. But since that is not an option bring something you can easily slip on if you will not make it to a shower quickly. When you walk in/out you get to see the beautiful harbor. If you have some time to just sit outside, it's a cool place to sit and relax and meditate. The Long Beach location is a little out of the way for my schedule, but my boyfriend loves it so much he actually signed up for the unlimited classes and has been going consistently since October. I've been practicing Bikram yoga for almost 10 years. I started practicing yoga to deal with severe low back pain, bad knees and overall poor health. I practice 3 times a week and my back pain is totally under control, my knees are strong and I rarely (if ever) get sick. I'm in the best shape of my life thanks to Bikram yoga. I have practiced at many Bikram studios throughout LA/ OC and across the US, travelling for work, but the Long Beach studio is my home studio. If you live in the area you should feel fortunate because this studio is a traditional, old school Bikram studio. No frills. No hype. Just yoga. The owner, the teachers and all the regular students take a lot of pride in the studio. Too often, Yelpers reviewing this studio get hung up on the aesthetics. If you are that hung up on looks please just stick to your 24 Hour Fitness membership where everyone looks marvelous...but I digress. Bikram is a unique style of yoga, meant to exercise your mental acuity as much as your physical stamina. The founder of this style of yoga, Bikram Choudhury, calls it a 90-minute torture chamber. A famous Bikram teacher wrote in the New York Times, "Bikram yoga is a challenge for anyone. It is a 90-minute class, practiced in a room heated to 105 degrees, with the same series of 26 postures. The postures are accessible to anyone, in any shape, but challenging for everyone, in any shape. The front mirrors force you to face the truth and the reality of your life." I can say from personal experience that Bikram students don't do this yoga to feel "At-One with the Universe", to align their chakras or enjoy the healing scents of aromatherapy. We practice this yoga to face our fears, discomfort, personal drama, anger, poor health, etc. so that we can break them down and rebuild from the ground up. Bikram Yoga is whatever you allow it to be. If you can't let go of your hang-ups when you walk in the room, then your hang-ups have their way with you when you are at your most vulnerable...just like life. Since moving to Southern California from the D.C. area 18 months ago, it has been a struggle to find a yoga studio that is both welcoming and inclusive. I'm sad to say that after my experience at Bikram Hot Yoga Long Beach, my search continues. I took my first class there tonight (12/26 at 6:30), with the hopes of quietly blending in to the back of the room and working to ease back into my practice again after a considerable absence. I did not expect my practice to be perfect. I expected to fumble through the poses, I even expected not to remember some of the them. However, I never expected that I'd humiliated by my instructor. When I arrived, I was welcomed by the instructor, which was fine. I told him that I used to practice Bikram back east and this was my first class in 18 months. He was giving me a lot of information and heaping a lot of attention on me from the moment I walked in, which was overwhelming for a shy, introverted woman who desperately needed to go to the bathroom! Once I got into the studio, I set up in the back of the class, per the site's instructions for beginners to do so (which I consider myself to be-though I've practiced in the past). The instructor came into the studio and then proceeded to teach the class right beside me, from the back of the room. I'm not sure if this is their usual practice. I'm used to teachers teaching from the front of the class and even circulating throughout, but for most of the class, he taught directly beside me. I felt like he was hovering over me, and it made me incredibly uncomfortable. I already felt self-conscious, but his presence made it worse. I wanted to ask him to move, but I didn't want to be rude. Maybe he thought he was helping me?!?! I don't know, but I do know that he made me feel awkward and embarrassed. Now to the humiliation: back east I had a wonderful teacher (shoutout to Alison and all the wonderful teachers at YogaWorks Columbia!) who taught me that it was perfectly fine to lose your balance and fall out of a pose because you're practicing and after all, yoga is a practice! I was in the class tonight, practicing dancer's pose, and falling out of it, learning to find my balance again. I guess he observed this because he proceeded to stop the class and demonstrate to everyone my fumbling dancer's pose and said in front of the class "this isn't yoga!" I wanted to die! Here I am, trying my best in the moment, and he made me feel like shit. Finally, during savasana, he told a thinly-veiled story about how once he had a new student who he was trying to help that wouldn't take his help and ended up having a horrible practice. I felt like, yet again, he was singling me out. What he failed to understand is that I did not find his actions helpful, nor did he ever ask me what I needed to benefit my practice. At that point, I just gave up. Some feedback for the studio- when newbies come to your studio, welcome them, but don't overwhelm them. Ask them what they need as each individual is different. I think the instructor tonight thought he was helping me, but he ended up doing a lot of harm. I will try to find another instructor in the studio, since I have 2 weeks and 6 days left on my intro offer and I don't like to waste money ($30 is $30), but once my offer has expired, I doubt that I will return. I love Bikram yoga in general but am disappointed with this particular studio. The instructors are hit and miss, as with any place. So you just need to try a few classes to find an instructor with a style you like. The reason I gave this place a 2 star is because I feel like they are more concerned about money than cutomer service. I understand it's a business but c'mon. My girlfriend found out she was pregnant and was told she could not do the Bikram. She had just purchased a big package. The studio was not willing to let her extend her sessions (till after pregnancy) or transfer to another person. She was screwed out of a lot of money. Awhile later, after I had a baby, I returned to resume my practice and I bought many sessions. Apparently the rules had changed somewhere along the line and the sessions expired in 30 days. Nobody told me this when I made the purchase. When I bought a session package previously, they were good for a year. I asked the girl at the desk if she could make an exception and extend my package for just one month. She was a complete snot and said no. I was out of about $100 on that package. It was just wasted money. I have not been back since then. read more

I really wanted to like this place because it is so close to my house, the instructors and staff are really sweet and I like how Bikram focuses on perfecting the poses but after three classes that gave me a great workout I still can't get over the smell. Let me explain...I've been doing Bikram for years and I've NEVER walked in to a studio and been overpowered by the stench of stale sweat and feet!!!! The combination of 105 degree heat and sweaty bodies makes carpet a host for bacteria, compound that by the fact that they use a humidifier which is totally unnecessary and probably acts like a steroid for bacteria which love warm damp environments. I realize for some reason Bikram studios LOVE their carpet, clinging to the belief that the carpet prevents people from slipping on their own sweat but for god sake sprinkle some baking soda and perhaps a little tea tree oil or some bleach to kill what ever fungus has taken root in that funky carpet!!!! I'm sorry but that has to be a health violation. It is too bad because other than that I really liked the place. Maybe is they shampoo the carpets I'll try it again but until then I'm not going to pay $16 bucks a session to risk infecting myself with athlete's foot or ring worm. read more

I did not think this studio was safe. I got a week or 10 days of Yoga to see which class I'd like best. Out of 3 instructors, 2 were pushing students to do poses they said hurt. The teachers emotionally blackmailed them in front of the class and tried to make them meet the same stretches and twists as a professional instructor! A lady said she had a bad knee and her doctor didn't want her to do one move - the idiot teaching replied "we have a saying here at Bikram - if you CAN do it, you MUST" I have a saying also "If you're practicing medicine without a license , demeaning and injuring your customers...adios" Make the drive up to Free Spirit or rent a DVD through Netflix or your library. It's better for your physical and emotional health. I didn't even bother returning for the rest of my pre-paid classes. Yoga is supposed to be a metaphor for life. I learned that day that ignorant people may shout bad advise to you, and that I don't have to respond. It was like boot camp. read more

Great class tonight! A 90-minute torture chamber held in a room heated to 105 degrees with the same series of 26 postures. Don't attempt hot bikram yoga without a right state of mind.... Meant to exercise your mental acuity as much as your physical stamina. read more

I LOVE this place! I am extremely particular with the cleanliness of yoga studios. Bikram Yoga Long Beach is always spotless, and most importantly, does NOT have carpet! They have a great matted, non-permeable (rubber-like?) flooring that they clean regularly. All the instructors are friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, and encouraging. I love that they offer an abbreviated Bikram class (1 hour) for those with busy schedules, as well as hot-fusion classes. Last but not least, they offer teacher and military discounts! If you are having trouble finding it, go down the staircase behind Chipotle (take the walkway between Chipotle and Buffalo Wild Wings). The studio is in a beautiful location that overlooks the water! read more

I did Bikram yoga for the first time here.. I thought that every bikram studio smelled terrible, were small, and had nasty instructors who would be snappy/give attitude if you did a pose wrong and had a sip of water.. One literally called me out for drinking a sip of water and told me There were specific times for that. Hello.. I was a new student! I am not used to the heat and poses, give me a break.. Not going to lie, some instructors weren't that terrible and were actually very friendly. Anyway, Ive gone to the Irvine Bikram studio, and it is beyond a better maintained studio. Better amenities, merchandise, cleaner, with showers and a lot more spacious. I also liked the vibes more. After going to several locations, Long Beach is the dirtiest place Ive gone to.. Go to the Huntington location instead. read more
