I did Bikram yoga for the first time here.. I thought that every bikram studio smelled terrible, were small, and had nasty instructors who would be snappy/give attitude if you did a pose wrong and had a sip of water.. One literally called me out for drinking a sip of water and told me There were specific times for that. Hello.. I was a new student! I am not used to the heat and poses, give me a break.. Not going to lie, some instructors weren't that terrible and were actually very friendly. Anyway, Ive gone to the Irvine Bikram studio, and it is beyond a better maintained studio. Better amenities, merchandise, cleaner, with showers and a lot more spacious. I also liked the vibes more. After going to several locations, Long Beach is the dirtiest place Ive gone to.. Go to the Huntington location instead. read more

What can't I say about this place??!! I'll be honest I was a little hesitant about trying Bikram hot yoga but a friend of mine expressed how great it was for back injuries and stress.. So I put my feelings aside and did the introduction package.. And I don't regret it! I was welcomed by Jesse on my first day and he was super sweet and explained to me what to expect and to do the best I could since it was my first time ever doing yoga and hot yoga! It was an amazing experience and as suggested I stayed in the classroom the whole 90 minutes of hot 105 degree heat and 40% humidity! It was tough but I managed to get through it. There are other instructors like Francisco and Rebekah that are also amazing teaching the class... I'm sure the other instructors are just as great but I haven't had the chance to meet them... The students were also very welcoming... The vibe put me at ease! For all newbie customers... Do your homework and go on the Bikram hot yoga long beach website.. It tells you what to expect and what you should and shouldn't eat prior to class.. Like anything we have never tried it can be a little intimidating and scary, but if you allow yourself to just be there and go into that state mind you will be very successful! Day 7 for me and I can already see a difference in my yoga postures, skin and mental state of mind... Stay positive and continue in it whether you have a good day or bad day.... What a great experience! I came here on classpass. Staff and students all super friendly and personable. I took a fusion class and got beautifully sweaty. Teacher was funny and made jokes which I loved. I love when a class isn't taken too seriously, because afterall yoga can be fun right? (So different from traditional bikram where is often taught in a very militant way.) Can't wait to come back. They have a great intro deal too that I will def take advantage of. I got a LivingSocial coupon for one month unlimited classes here. The tips on their website were really helpful to prepare. I enjoyed every instructor I had in each class/time slot. I took Tuesday-Thursday 7pm & 8am Sat & Sun classes. The instructors make sure to watch the first time students & guide them through the experience. In the month I had I think I got to 11 or 12 classes I can't wait to go back! Overall I felt the studio was very inviting. If people think this studio gets crowded then they should try taking a class at Bikram Costa Mesa now THAT place gets insanely crowded. It made me appreciate LB Bikram much more. Get there 15-20 minutes early and you'll be ok for a spot! Coming here got me addicted to practicing Bikram! The one area of improvement I have for them is to include a price option for committing to one full year but being able to make monthly payments on a automated system. I would sign up to pay $117/month like Bikram La Canada has listed on their site in a heartbeart if Long Beach offered this! read more

Beautiful location right off the marina. I was welcomed warmly and Liliana was a great instructor--nicely paced and helpful when necessary. I have wanted to do Bikram classes for years and never lived close enough to a studio to attend regularly. I'm so glad I live by one now! This is a place of healing and wellness. I love coming to class and feel so welcome when I do. Two of the teachers, Maggie and Rosario, called me by name the second time I attended each of their classes. That was so impressive to me. I also love the studio's app which makes it convenient to see their class schedule, book it, and find out who's teaching. And the location! I enjoy walking outside after class to stand by the water's edge, feel the refreshing breeze, and hear the birds overhead. I read an article in Oprah magazine about Bikram Yoga and decided to locate a studio and give it a try. This Long Beach studio offers local residents a promotion of 1 week of unlimited classes for $20. They offer Mon, Wed, Fri classes at 6:30am, which work out the best for me due to my work schedule. Have had 3 different instructors so far, all of whom have different teaching styles, but I find that with each teacher I am better understanding my body, a pose, or a movement in a different and new way. This is the first Bikram yoga studio I have been to, but I enjoy it so much. It does smell Funky when you first walk in the lobby. Seconds later you won't even remember you smelled anything you will be focused on the mental and physical workout you came for. I recommend this business! read more

I've practiced Bikram for 20 years, been at this studio since the early 2000s. I appreciate instruction on posture form from teachers. I am open to guidance. But I have to call out instructor Meggin for snide remarks when I chose NOT to use towel over my heels during rabbit. (On two occasions). Yes, folks, I can't believe I'm writing a review about something as small as using a towel during a posture. So I get a better grip WITHOUT a towel, which Meggin doesn't understand, apparently. My heels, unlike the rest of my feet, don't sweat. It's a dry grip for me without the towel. Meggin in two classes I've taken with her (the latest today) has made a snide remark because I did not follow her instruction to use a towel over the heels in rabbit, which I always was taught was OPTIONAL. I will NOT be taking classes from Meggin again. I wanted to tell her this is my yoga practice, and I know what feels right. Too bad Meggin can't be as nonjudgmental as instructors Melissa and Mayu, who are excellent. read more

I probably should have never come here. I haven't done much yoga, so bikram was probably a stretch for me (no pun intended!). I was really grossed out by the carpeted floors. There are classes every day, so I can assume that they very rarely get shampooed. People were dripping puddles of sweat onto the carpet and it really turned me off. I never got used to the smell either. I have been to a lot of different dance/ gym studios, and I was unimpressed by the amount of effort put into this studio. It looked like they just took over an office building and put some mirrors in. The fluorescent lighting was really gross combined with the heat. I have noticed in the reviews that people are disappointed that there are not showers. I didn't go in expecting this, but it is a good point. You basically have to drive home sitting on a towel since you get so sweaty, it would be nice if showers were an option. It was interesting to try bikram, but it really wasn't my thing, I don't think I will try it anywhere else. I found the instructors to be very scripted and pretty unmotivating. I did however appreciate the personalized attention given to me at my first class. I don't know if this is the atmosphere at all bikram studios or just this one, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. read more

I love this studio. This is my second time joining and I'm so happy to be back. I never would have left, but had some scheduling conflicts...now with the new earlier classes I can participate as often as I want. It's just as warm (no pun intended) and inviting as I remember and it is truly a huge feather in their cap to see so many of the same faces in the classes. As well as my favorite teachers. Let me preface by saying I have been practicing hot yoga for almost two years now and really enjoy it. At this studio...I did not. I was given a five class package to this studio as a Christmas present from my Mom and went in a couple weeks later to try it. The general vibe of the place is a nothing like what I have come to expect from a yoga studio. Not warm or welcoming at all. Then there's the facilities. Why carpeting? There are so many inexpensive alternatives. I really don't understand it. It is eight kinds of funky, and they make you do postures where your hands and feet touch the soiled carpet instead of staying on the sanitary sanctuary of your own mat. The first two classes I took the instructor interrupted class to tell me to put a towel over my non-slip mat. I have used the same mat for over a year at numerous studios and no teacher has ever done anything like that. I couldn't believe that she was interrupting the entire class to demand that I cover my mat. It was very awkward. I kept giving this place the benefit of the doubt. Maybe everyone that works there was having a bad day...Maybe they have cleaned the carpet today...Maybe I'll leave with a better feeling after the next class... After three bad experiences I couldn't make excuses for this place anymore. I forfeited my remaining to classes and sought hot yoga elsewhere. read more

This practice is not for the living social / Groupon gypsies. One has to be more focused and determined. Once you appreciate the effects it has both mentally and physically the sweat and the slight odor will be for the birds. I'm not a fan of sweating or of heat so when I heard of Bikram Yoga I thought, yeah, maybe if I lived in Finland. But a friend talked me into going so I gave it a try with an open mind. Said friend suggested I wear basically, my underwear (sports bra & fitness shorts) to class and even though I was shy about it, I'm glad I did. Within 15 minutes, I was sweating more than I ever have. Hmmm.... That was ... strange, but to be expected. I wish my friend had mentioned, though, that the place would smell overpoweringly of a men's locker room. That was ... as surprise. I would've brought a bottle of essential oil to occasionally sniff. That said. It was a great class. The instructor, Jeremy, was fantastic! He was challenging but friendly, firm but smiling and made it fun to push myself. He had a playful presentation but stuck to the basics. The class wasn't about him, it was about doing the work while having fun, going for the juice of that yoga can give you after laboring away (but with a smile -- that was why it was so great taking class with him). I love Bikram yoga. I've been to numerous studios around the country and also internationally. The Long Beach studio has some great instructors. I tried the 7 day new student discount thing, and I got to experience about 6 different instructors, and I actually liked all of them! However, I can only give this place three stars for a few reasons. 1. Ants. They are all over the place! I found them to be distracting and gross. 2. No shower. I would really appreciate being able to rinse off real quick so that I may run errands after class 3. It is one of the coldest studios I've been to. I actually like the room really warm. Apparently the building is old and there are lots of cracks and the heat escapes. Plus, the instructors really like to open the doors a lot to let in air. I actually got chills multiple times. But its the only studio in town. So I will most likely come for some drop in classes when I need my fix. read more

Went here today for the first time, and loved it! First impression was that it is very small, and the changing room/bathroom situation is a bit different than other studios I have been to - but still very nice. Nicole, the instructor, was awesome. One of the reasons I waited so long to come to this studio, is b/c other reviewers had mentioned the smell. I've walked out of other Bikram studios b/c of that smell, so I was a bit timid this morning. I am happy to report that I stayed for the whole class, and I honestly didn't notice any foul smell. I purchased the weeklong intro package, and plan on being there everyday this week (depending on how my body feels tomorrow, of course). I went to the 11am class, and it was not overcrowded at all. We are developing an active-wear/moisture wicking line for our existing clothing brand so I figured hot yoga would be the best place to start looking at what folks are wearing and trying out our samples before we manufacture. I really like this studio. I signed up for the week for $20 to try it out first. Based on the reviews I read I wanted to be sure it was going to be a good fit for me if I decided to continue after our clothing experiment :) I have heard great things about Manhattan Beach and Downtown locations but Long Beach is much more convenient for me so I thought I would give it a shot! So far, I really like the instructors, they have great personalities and seem to take a genuine interest in making sure everyone is comfortable and doing the poses correctly. There was only one instructor that was a bit pushy and picking on certain people throughout the class, but she had a good sense of humor. Based on what I've heard about other Bikram instructors coming off as being snotty and elitist, this was a nice surprise that everyone was super nice. As far as the smell everyone is posting here...I did notice it right away, it was pretty pungent when you go into the actual hot studio, but it wasn't as bad as some noted here. Maybe I caught in on a good week. I am just hoping that they do a good job of cleaning those carpets on a daily basis, especially because they have you step off the mats for certain poses on your bare feet....that could be an infection nightmare if the carpets aren't properly disinfected. Overall, it has been a good experience, and I will definitely be going back. read more

I like this studio because it has a nice, laid back vibe (without comprising adequate structure/discipline for Bikram yoga). I went to another studio before this that was a little too strict for my taste (e.g. firm decorum of beginners staying in the back) I've had a few different instructors, which have all been helpful and effective in guiding the class. Class prices are a little cheaper than other studios. For anyone new, be conscious of the expiration dates of the packaged classes (I learned the hard way by losing several classes earlier on) read more

Love Love Love what Rosa and team have done with this studio! The actual 26/2 series remains authentic and yet they've added fusion and Pilates and restorative to create accommodation for the masses. The studio is gorgeous, well-maintained, very clean, and instructors are truly caring and knowledgeable. Will always be my favorite place to practice hot yoga! Such a great studio, very happy to have found this place. Convenient location, great schedule and an amazing staff; so knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Also, I've never been in a Bikram studio this clean before- it doesn't have a smell to it at all (I didn't think that was possible), very impressed. The classes are popular but it doesn't seem to get too crowded. Other yogis/practitioners are friendly and supportive, which gives it a nice atmosphere. The instructors all repeat the same things verbatim! they might as well play a tape recorder for every class, it would be the same thing. I thought the classes were boring to death, the 90 minutes felt like forever and it's not just me being fatigued from the poses. I had a month long membership and only went a few times. The facility is quite small, there are two changing rooms and one restroom. As others have said, no showers. I honestly don't think it's worth the full price membership and I'm glad i was able to find a deal online. read more

This is an unfortunate case of how one bad seed can effect a whole experience. I was excited to have moved back to Long Beach & got a month membership looking forward to try out a new studio. Unfortunately on my 2nd day that changed real fast. I walked into the studio not knowing how to sign in for class & the only instructor in the room by the name of Melba was busy trying to sell her products to a student. I waited patiently for a few minutes then finally asked how to sign in & she barked at me to use the ipad then went back to her conversation. A little taken aback I figured it out & went into class. Even though I have been doing hot yoga for 12 years I had just gotten done with 20 hours of traveling & hadn't done yoga in 2 months so I sat in the back corner because I was stiff & didn't want to hurt myself trying to do poses my body wasn't ready to do again yet. Class started & there was just an uncomfortablness about her teaching style. She barks at her students, is very aggressive & demanding & doesn't stop gabbing when your trying to balance in a pose. I understand there's a teacher for everyone so I let it go. Things took a turn for the worst though when I bent in a way she hadn't instructed: she extremely passive aggressivly -in front of the whole class- not to turn in certain ways or move my hips when I was simply knowing my body & trying to release the muscles safely. If I wanted to be in a crossfit class I would do that, this is yoga. What horrified me the most is she started lecturing the class on how SHE is there to unteach us what every other yoga studio teaches because SHE knows better, proceeded to name at least 8 different studios & say they were all wrong!! I was down right embarressed for her and how crazy she was acting in the middle of a yoga class. I survived the class & unfortunetly had to take her class a few more times(no redeeming experiences) because she teaches a lot here. I walk in on my last & asked to purchase a borrowed mat & she barkes at me again what? I had about had it & I nicely asked her if I had done something to her. She got rather aggressive again right away & started yelling at me that she had never done any of the things I said & that I could leave. I calmly tried to explain I didnt want to embarrass her or get her in trouble with her bosses & she just kept yelling. By then students were coming in & I was so shaken I just walked into the room. I had 2 students come up to me in class saying they had seen the interaction & were horrified by how rude & unproffessional she was being when I was being so polite. Never been screamed at in a yoga studio by a yoga teacher so that was the last time I will attend a class here. There are so many amazing studios in Long Beach, dont waste your money. read more
