We met two people walking their dogs who told us about the longer second trail in the woods. So we walked back to the windmill, took the side road back until we found the green trail markers. Well marked trail that made a loop connecting with the paved trail. Another nice little walk. There are several picnic tables scattered around, a restroom, playground area, gazebo and large open field that could be used for tossing a ball or frisbee.

You can also hike along the beach and tidal pools during low tide with beauty views of Sandy Neck beach across the harbor. You could do a beach day here as well as there are small Sandy areas for chairs but it's more of a salt water marsh experience than an ocean beach. There is a small fee per person. Plenty of parking by the visitor center and a small lot by the beach entrance. Definitely worth checking out with the kids!
