I'm shocked people shop here. The furniture looks nice, but its poor quality. You sink in the sofas, and not in a comfy way. The tables are all scratched, which happens in a showroom. What should not happen is tables easily scratched by fingernails. Yes, I tested their scratch quality to determine what kind of finish was on the wood. The staff is very nice and helpful. But honestly? Head to another furniture store. If you need a table or chairs, visit Just Tables and Chairs in Haverford (those tables passed the scratch test). If you need a sofa or bedroom furniture, check out...anywhere else. You're paying for the name here but getting Ikea quality. read more

The review is not for this store specifically but for West Elm generally. I bought a light fixture (Henry Pendant) online and the quality was not worth the cost. I started a return, the first call applied a full refund, including shipping, because of the quality. However, the shipment came in 4 boxes and I only received 2 labels, so I had to call again to get additional labels. This time they removed almost $100 from my return (almost the full cost of the light!) for shipping. They agent would not reverse the return or give me the full refund. I do not recommending buying from West Elm--low quality products for the price, and their returns process is absurd. read more

I purchased outdoor furniture covers online today. Upon checkout I was asked to confirm the sizes as they were not refundable. After double checking, i clicked confirm for my $600 purchase. i then received an email saying the covers would be delivered March 18th 2025. Today is August 17th 2024. Seven months from now. I called customer service and after 45 minutes and being transfered to a supervisor named Karen i was told there was nothing they could do because "you acknowledged that they were not returnable". When i asked if West Elm thought it was reasonable to expect a customer to wait seven months for a product, Karen simply said "yes". Outrageous. I will be disputing this charge on my credit card and i will NEVER purchase anything from West Elm ever again read more

We had a bad experience with this store. We ordered kitchen chairs with the understanding they would come already assembled, but they did not. Furthermore they made it difficult for us to arrange a pick up for the return of the chairs so we returned them ourselves. We did not receive our full costs back as they refused to refund the shipping costs. read more

I headed to West Elm in Ardmore yesterday to try and find some additional furniture for my home. I had already been on a few errand and knew I would have to use their bathroom when I arrived. I have been in the store several times and knew they had one. After finding a parking place (which is never easy in Ardmore) I left my husband to shop in the store while I walked to the back to use the restroom. The two restrooms ( unisex) both had combo locks on them. A salesperson came out of the stockroom and I asked if I could have the combo. She said they were locked to the public. I said I was a customer and needed to use the restroom. She said they are no longer available to anyone. Then another person (who turned out to be a manager) confirmed that I could not use the restroom! Mind you I am a 77 year old neatly dressed woman. She said there had been "incidents" with people using them. I have spent more than $10,000.00 in this store this year alone and I was refused a bathroom? Give me a break. I had to go across the street and buy a cup of coffee and use their restroom. I have been patient with West Elm this year. I received many of my items within the scheduled frame. However I selected two matching swivel chairs and one was delivered last August and they couldn't locate the other until it was finally delivered in December. I won't return to this store ever again and I most likely won't shop West Elm online either. The employees there are rude and not helpful. In addition: your new policy of not marking any items with bar codes but one must use a QR code for every price really sucks! read more

LOVED browsing this store!!! I'm always on the hunt for dining chairs & living room furniture. I've looked at West Elm online but this was my 1st time in store. It was aesthetically pleasing on so many levels. Well organized... busy but not over stimulating. The sales associates were welcoming as well I had 2 approach me and both had warm genuine smiles and inquire as to if I was finding everything ok. I spent maybe 20 minutes inside (I was waiting for my appointment at the Apple store) I gathered MANY ideas and lots of wants in my head. I will definitely be back!!! Go see for yourself read more

Do Not I Mean Do Not Buy any furniture from West Elm in Ardmore or any West Elm. It is thee most incompetent customer service I have ever dealt with. I've spent 5 or 6 different times with them over the phone for hours and emails to get passed around to no resolution. We purchased a $3,800 dollar couch from them and it was delivered with cracked legs. We asked for a new leg. We bought the couch in January and they never followed up on the new leg we had to keep calling. They sent the wrong legs two weeks ago and we still have to wait. They just check notes, and don't help you in anyway. Buy a couch from Crate and Barrel and save yourself with the hassle of this awful service. No one from the store can help you either. I just want to return the couch at this point.. Seriously crap service. Never again. Trust the poor reviews..We asked for a manager to reach out, never heard from one either. read more

I received a gift which was purchased at West Elm, but I am not sure which location. I tried to return it but their policy is that you have to have a receipt or gift receipt. So I couldn't return it or exchange it. I now have a very expensive item that I can't use. Someone, who did not tell me her name, tried to help me but no luck. I was so excited when I found a perfect chair style for my dining room table. My sister and I went to the Suburban Square store where Alex, one of the store associates, greeted us in a very friendly way. I inquired where the clearance area was an Alex took us right to the back of the store to their FLEA Center. There was the chair I was looking for! Perfect style perfect color perfect price! Yes, it was on sale. I then wanted to order five more chairs to complete the set. I was told that since they did not have it in stock, I would have to order it and have it delivered to the store for a delivery price of $25. I didn't understand the need for the $25 charge but was told that if I had it delivered to my house it would've been $200! Here is the reason for the one star... I was never told from either Alex or the store manager who helped us, that The five chairs that I ordered would need to be assembled! All I was told was that they would be shipped to the store in a box. Never was I told that they would be on assembled in that box. As a matter of fact, when I called the store to confirm that I was going to pick up the chairs, I asked if they would be taken out of the box and wrapped with plastic so I would be able to fit them all in my car. Alex had to wrap the stores model that I bought in plastic and it fit perfectly in my car and we even talked about that yes indeed I could fit five more chairs in my car. When I picked up the chairs approximately 6:30 Monday night, I spoke to the stock manager. I reminded her that I had confirmed I would pick up these chairs wrapped out of the box. She was surprised, but she went to the back and found the wrapped chairs out of the box. I was shocked when I saw the chairs unassembled but wrapped together. If I had had the time and the inclination I would have made it known that this was not what I was expecting. I'm very disappointed. I like the store I like the furniture the people were very friendly but that missing piece of information was huge. read more

I want to start off by saying this review does not reflect the Ardmore location, as Samantha has been AMAZING in helping us with our order. We would be getting nowhere fast without her. However, it should be known to people what they are dealing with in terms of this company as a whole. I have given west elm SO much business over the years, they make beautiful and durable pieces, however, our recent experiences not so much... Do yourselves a favor and never order something "made to order." We ordered a custom harmony couch back in August. We were supposed to get it end of September... then end of October... then two weeks ago it was changed to JANUaRY 2020!!! Meanwhile, we just moved into a home a didn't have a couch. No only that, but we could never get an answer as to why it was taking so long, always using the "vendor" as the excuse. Who is the vendor??? No one can tell you that either. So finally we decide to cancel the couch at this point and get the standard harmony... all set and ordered... then two days later it's "backordered." Now I'm being told there aren't enough of one piece of the sectional at this time. WHY?? This is a "quick ship" item, and now we're looking at another month. Not only that, NEVER in this whole time were we offered a discount on something or money back. I have never seen anything like it. It makes me sick to think how much I have spent in this establishment and used our registry there. As much as I love the style, they will never receive our business again. read more

My order with West Elm quickly became a nightmare, but manager Yen at the Ardmore store worked tirelessly until every issue was resolved and my new apartment was properly furnished. I placed a large order of furniture and furnishings during the Memorial Day sale before making a big move in June. Not only were some items seemingly lost in the pre-shipping process, but once items finally arrived, some of them were broken. I was so frustrated when multiple representatives from the national West Elm customer service line told me there was nothing they could do. Yen, however, went above and beyond to find a way to resolve the situation. Over the course of three weeks, Yen called stores up and down the east coast to locate items and even pieces of items I needed. She held bulky furniture in her store's storage space for days until I was able to retrieve it. She frequently called to update me on the purchasing, shipping, and delivery process for all of my items. And she even helped me navigate the payment and reimbursement process once everything was finally in order. I owe my beautifully furnished, cozy home not to West Elm, but entirely to Yen, who I would love to have over for dinner when she runs this company one day. Thank you, Yen. read more

Sometimes we read reviews and think, really??? Well, the negative reviews of this location is true. I experienced it first hand. I called to have an item place on hold til Sunday. When I was in the store my cousin and I were being observed and apparently my item was not on hold for me. I went on trying to order the item to be ship or picked up at a later date, the unprofessional manager asked her associate to make sure she ask for ID, they never apologized for not having my items I placed on hold. They were more concerned to make sure we present ID on a purchased we would need to be shipped to the billing address. Later on, we had to purchased an $8 item for my niece , as we walk away to grab another small $10 item to add to the order, the manager of course went to tell another cashier to ask for ID as well. If this was so common, the new cashier would have not looked uncomfortable when we came back to add another item to the order. Racial profiling at its finest. read more

In trying to arrange for a time to pick up a couch, a manager insisted I received 3 phone calls with messages, despite my telling her that nobody had called and no messages were left. I got different information each time I called. Very negative experience trying to pick up a couch that was already paid for. If I didn't like the couch so much, I'd have cancelled just due to my experience with that manager. When my nephew entered the store to pick up the couch, he asked the price of something on the floor - and was told "I don't know" by a sales person. No effort to find out. read more
