I was trying to schedule a appointment with my doctor. I had called to speak to Sasha because she had got me one appointment last year, first of all when they answered the phone the person who picked up was laughing, as soon as I asked for Sasha they hanged up on my face. I tried calling back and they didn't pick up the phone call. I know it wasn't Sasha because I know her voice. I've called before and never had a problem. It sound like it was either Melissa or Alyssa because like I said I recognize their voice. It was so unprofessional. Luckily I wasn't a family member with a family emergency. read more

Wonderful service all around! I came in with my boyfriend today to pick up some new glasses that he selected early last week. First off, the office is pretty huge - I didn't expect such a lovely place judging by the Farmington Ave storefront next to Tisane. Wanda was extremely helpful and efficient - while I moseyed along trying on frames, she made sure Nick was good to go with his new prescription (and made sure he didn't forget his adorable 'goody bag' of glasses cleaner, etc). We were in and out within ten minutes. And even though they were getting ready to close for the day, it didn't feel like the staff were rushing us out. Overall, great experience! Dr. Colite has diagnosed my retinal tear and took prompt measures to arrange for the immediate procedure to stave off an imminent danger of vision loss. I was taken at once in according to seriousness of the situation. I sat in the chair feeling lost and upset, thinking of my job and my future, if I were to lose vision. This doctor came in and has taken over the process. She was swift but all was done with calm,measured precision that made myself and my family feel safe and in good hands. No concern was minimized or ignored. This happened within hours of clinic closure on the New Year's Eve. Today is December 31 and she has made this the only New Year's gift that mattered. Not only is he an abundance of knowledge, he is compassionate and truly cares about his patients. Not only is Dr. Hardison a great optometrist, but his staff is courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Being a part of this business is like being a part of a family. I'm a type 1 diabetic, along with having some other health issues, and it's been important to me to find a doctor who understands and is familiar with this. I came to West End Eyecare after moving back to CT, since it was near my job in Hartford. HORRIBLE mistake. It's a beautiful building, and everything was good with the eye physicians and the exam itself. The issue is the people behind the desk. I first called ahead of time to check the coverage of my insurance and where I would be at after I get a contacts fitting and what I would have afterward left to go toward ordering lenses. I was told good news, that my insurance covers my full exam, fitting, and I'll have a leftover amount toward purchasing lenses. Well, after my fitting I go to pay, and apparently I owed almost $20, which I paid, though I was questioning it all. They told me if I choose to order elsewhere, and find a better price I can go back and order it through them, and they will price match. I call recently to order my lenses, and find out there's no allowance left over in my insurance to pay for my contacts. I call with a secondary insurance, and call my primary to figure out what is going on. In the meanwhile, I'm told they will not price match on contacts for astigmatism (even though I was told TWICE before that they would.) My primary insurance company dealt with one of the women behind the desk, and tells me that I have enough left over to order contacts with both insurances. I come to find out, that this isn't the case when I speak with West End and they talk to me like I have 3 heads!!!! (Even though I spoke with the same woman who spoke to my insurance company.) I am completely annoyed by this business. They charge WAY too much for a fitting, if you ask me. I've had much more pleasant experiences at other optometrists before I moved. In fact, I found they charged double what I would pay when I used to go to an optometrist in Middletown. I will take the extra drive back down there next year when I need another exam. West End will NOT be getting my business ever again. read more

West End Eye Care is a staple of the community. I have had my eyes examined there at least three times, but the most recent time that I went happens to be my most memorable. Dr. Lauren B. Coletti was the Optometrist who completed the examination. I went on a Saturday morning, which I was happily able to get with only a 1 month wait. The office is clean, the staff are friendly, and made the experience really fantastic this particular visit. On weekends they have limited hours, so I was surprised that I was the only one in the office. I guess most of their peak business takes place during the week. However, I will say that this particular visit was so fast and efficient it left me somewhat skeptical. The appointment was only 30 minutes as opposed to 1 hour previously. Not that I'm complaining, but I was extremely surprised. But Dr. Coletti was very nice and shared the positive results of previous tests from the past to current to show my eye issues have been improving over the years. That to me was such a wonderful thing, to know I had progressive improvements! I was pleasantly surprised! I would recommend this place to others for exams, but for eyewear you may want to check around. The selections to me are dated and priced out of range for what's being offered (overpriced). read more

So I took my previous review down because I received a call this morning from the office manager. She took time out of her morning to discus and come up with a solution to the situation at hand. She apologized for the miss communication and made me as a patient feel important. She explained that the receptionist had a miss communication and she honestly is a nice person. I told her where I can from and she apologized but reassured me that she, the receptionist and staff do care. We have our bad days with misunderstandings. I've been a long time customer of this place, and these guys used to be pretty good, but in the last couple of years, they've really gone down-hill. I've had an issue with the last 3 pairs of glasses I've purchased there (chipped lenses, peeling paint on the frame, no A/R coating on one of the lenses--really gave me a headache!!) I previously recommended them to friends, but when the friends also came back, complaining, I knew it wasn't me. You're better off going somewhere else.
