I've known Matt, the owner, through Glotman Simpson Cycling Club. I have always found him friendly and helpful. I have also been a patient of his in past. This time I needed a bike fit for my new bike. In past he had recommended Jennifer and after some research and my wife's endorsement I made an appointment. I have pretty high standards and given my physical condition, in particular AS, even higher. I have to say Jennifer exceeded my expectations! She is very detailed, thorough, efficient and caring. We finished the bike fit with some exercises, most which were never suggested in my many years of seeing physios and RMTs. Excellent care, very knowledgable. I have a tricky injury that couldn't be solved elsewhere. The therapist at West Fourth took the time to really understand the issue. DO NOT USE PETER FRANCIS I took my dad to physio and it was our first visit. We were running 8 mins late and when we arrived the first thing Peter Francis did was gave us a HUGE lecture about being late and how he only has 20 mins for us. Everything will be rushed and he was so impatient. Through the questionnaire, I felt he was giving alot of attitude. I don't know if he understands customer service and that I have a CHOICE to choose another physiotherapist. My experience of Peter is he has way too much ego. No compassion, customer service, or empathy. My dad and I couldn't even gauge his skills because we were so taken back from his terrible attitude. I was recommended to West Fourth Physio because my two business partners has gone to see Lauren. It was unfortunate that she moved back to Victoria Island because Peter was definitely NOT my first choice. Will never go back to see him. read more

Love the therapists here. Yes, they have been late on a few occasions, but they are friendly and personable and they know what they are doing, as do the front end staff. Some give shorter services than you might expect, but I find that those knowledgeable with IMS are the best. If you are not in the know, IMS is "needling" or acupuncture with large needles, and as painful as it might seem at first, it really works and I am certainly a believer of the practice. I would highly recommend going here if you are in need of physio. It is far more effective than massage, traditional acupuncture, or chiro. in my books. The only reason that I am not giving it a five is since I don't really have any other physios with which to compare the place. But I do appreciate them over any other type of body practitioner for positive results when experiencing stress pain, accident pains or otherwise. read more

I went to West Fourth on the recommendation of a friend, having hurt my back in an accident at work. The receptionist was able to get me an appointment the day after I first called. My particular physiotherapist was friendly, assessed me very thoroughly and took plenty of time to teach me about my exercises she wanted me to do and what I should expect during the healing process. Parking is easy; the practice is in the same building with Capers, and there is parking below that is very reasonably priced. I hope never to hurt myself again, but if I do, I know where I'm going and I'll refer my friends there in the future. read more

I came here a few years ago as I pulled my back dragonboating. I was matched with Alison who was awesome! She's no longer there but she was extremely experienced and was qualified in IMS which was exactly what I needed. She also took care of a sprained ankle while I was seeing her and it healed pretty quickly with ultrasound. Now I am seeing Stewart for what I thought was a low back/glute muscle strain. Stewart assessed me and diagnosed me with Illiosacral upslip. Apparently the cause might have been a couple of years ago when I landed on my tailbone while snowboarding. After several sessions it started improving even though it was quite painful initially after the treatments. Still some more work to do, but most of it is exercises I have to do at home. I feel pretty confident under Stewart's care and he seems knowledgeable and was able to do some manipulation in the clinic to help correct the misalignment. The secretaries are friendly and they have good hours so I'm able to come after work. Overall, I'm satisfied with the care I receive and will keep coming back. read more

I have seen two different physiotherapists here. Neither included me in my treatment plan or listened to me discuss my pain levels. Both acted like I was making it up or been melodramatic. While treating me they both treated other patients and I didn't feel like either was focused on my healing. Both treated me like what I wanted for my injury didn't matter. I would not recommend this physiotherapy clinic to anyone. read more

Went to west 4th to treat my back after a car accident. I found the clinic online and was close to home, and the prices were reasonable based on the website so I booked my first consultation. First session was good. I was booked with Marj who came across as very knowledgeable and had me feeling better even after just the first session. Minor discrepancy with pricing at first but all issues were resolved professionally by the staff at the clinic. Looking forward to continued treatment at this friendly neighbourhood clinic. read more

Wow. I am amazed. Bike fitting = 10 stars!! I went to see Jennifer for a bike fitting - GUYS. Seriously. You would be crazy to go ANYWHERE else! She was attentive, friendly, answered all my questions, and then later addressed some chronic back pain I've been having. She spent 2 full hours with me, and my bike feels better than ever. She really knows what she's talking about when it comes to bike fitting - she was completely flawless in all her measurements, techniques, etc. What I appreciated most was how she talked me through every step. So many physio's just get into "go mode" and don't say anything... not here! She explained every detail, and especially the "why" behind all the changes she made on my bike. On top of her excellent, hand-crafted service, I feel like I got an education, too! read more

I just had an awesome session with Jennifer MacPherson at West 4th Physio. She was able to diagnose my shoulder issues within minutes. She told me what would happen if we let it get worse and not treat it. A tendon tear? No thanks!!! She then gave me IMS....intra muscular stimulation. Essentially, locating each bit of muscle that had spasmed, holding it, then sticking acupuncture-like needles deep into it, causing the muscle to grab at the needle and then fully release. Jen also demonstrated a couple of exercises I need to do, then emailed me video instructions & schematics. I'm impressed! Service was professional, friendly, quick and efficient. Best yet, this gives me an out so that I don't have to do any more push-ups or bearcrawls for a while (over-compression of the shoulder joint/muscles/tendons). read more

I only have experience with the wonderful reception staff and the physiotherapist Marj, but I have nothing but good things to say. Making appointments, rescheduling, and all of those things that can easily turn into a hassle are a breeze here. Their organizational systems are topnotch, and I've always had luck calling at short notice to get an appointment worked in. They are honest and transparent, something I really value. In regards to the physio itself, you are rarely kept waiting long after your scheduled time. Punctuality is emphasized here. Marj is extremely experienced, but remains humble and always listens before weighing in with her expertise. I've been coming back again and again each time life throws another curve ball at me (lower back injuries, car crashes, etc.) and she's sorted me out time and time again. Not impressed. I called as a new client and asked to be matched with a physiotherapist with experience with hip surgeries. I was given an appointment with Stephania, who was not particularly thorough and who basically said I should do more core exercises. Then, when I went to book my next appointment, I found out my physio was going to be away for the next 5 months! I was not impressed that I had been booked with someone who was leaving. Have no intention of going back. read more
