One star only because zero isn't an option…read more If I receive a return call or see meaningful action on the services we've already paid for, I will gladly update this review. Until then, more than six months after my father's passing, his grave is still marked with a temporary paper marker. My parents prepaid for my father's military headstone in the late 1990s. After my father passed away in January, my mother also paid in March to upgrade their shared marble marker with a different vase style. Despite repeated follow-ups, the headstone remains uninstalled. Each time we've called or visited the office to ask for an update, we've been given conflicting information and promises that have not been fulfilled. Rather than receiving honest communication or realistic timelines, we've been left with more questions than answers. To make matters worse, last summer my father paid approximately $700 to have the engraving on his parents' headstone repainted. The paint washed away within two weeks. We were told a new vendor had been hired and that the work would be corrected promptly. Nearly a year later, that repair still has not been completed. This isn't about asking for anything extra. We're simply asking the cemetery to fulfill the commitments that were paid for years ago and to complete the work that has already been purchased. Grieving families should never have to repeatedly chase a cemetery for updates, accountability, or basic follow-through. The lack of communication, urgency, and compassion has been deeply disappointing. It is especially unfortunate because families in Sunnyside no alternatives for cemetery services. We sincerely hope this review results in someone taking responsibility, communicating honestly, and completing the memorials and repairs our family has already paid for.

It appears numerous other complaints and a news article published is also getting no results on this corrupt outfit. This company seriously needs to be investigated and its staff replaced with a competant staff.

I had to call and request my son's fingerprints three times before they miraculously "just showed up" the day I called on 6/5. I was informed today by MY own phone call - that my "son has been cremated but are waiting for his urn". His urn was ordered on 5/20. I was again told that "I just spoke with them and his urn should be in today". Shaw & Sons has my son now cremated and I'm unsure of what items they included when cremating him OR when I will receive my son's ashes. How is this caring for someone in their worst days?? I would NEVER recommend this company unless you are just anxious to give them your money and then wait for your loved one for weeks! Going on day 17! Tiffanie Marquis

Today we picked up his ashes only to discover- 1) They forgot to cremate him in his boots, which were sent with his body when he was picked up. 2) They couldn't cremate him wearing his belt buckle, but instead of giving it back to us they tossed it in his box of ashes so now it's buried/in ash. I'm a little appalled at this lack of attention to details. This is our loved one, and we didn't ask for much. Out of the three things we provided for cremation only one item was cremated. I'm disappointed and I can't say I'd recommend Shaw and Sons after this experience.
