West side smiles has a very professional and friendly staff, an extremely clean, spacious and homey office space that doesn't make you feel like you're even at the dentist. It almost feels like you're at a spa ‍ I was in urgent need of a tooth repair and found them on YELP. After a free and very straight forward consultation Dr. Mike was able to begin working on it by taking x-rays, getting molds and putting a temporary crown on my tooth same day! We finished up the job about a week later after the permanent came in. The new tooth was installed in less than 15 minutes and I was on my way. Dr. Mike is a very caring and dedicated practitioner. The nature of dentistry is such that things don't always go to plan. I was pregnant during the pandemic and as a result needed 6 crowns and Dr Mike and his team took every precaution to take great care of me. A couple of years later there was an issue with one crown that came loose and affected the ones adjacent. Dr Mike and Rose were very proactive and caring when I called in and offered to fix not just the one that came loose but to replace and futureproof the adjacent ones to avoid me having issues down the line. I have been coming to West Hills Smiles for about 7 years. I am very pleased with all the services I receive. Everything here is state of the art. Before I started to come here I went to a family run practice for many years since I was a kid and to tell you the truth they weren't doing what was right for me or my teeth. I didnt even know that there was such a thing as a deep cleaning. I would just always continually bleed from the gums thinking that normal. When i came here i had my first deep cleaning in my life and have never bled again. The dental hygenist here named Essie is the best i have ever had. She is a no nonsense very efficient, hard working, and detailed hygenist who i come to regularly every 3 months like clockwork. My mouth has never been so clean. This is THE place to go for your dental needs. And it doesn't even feel like you're at the dentist. First, you walk in and see their beautiful lobby that has a really big and soothing aquarium. They offer you snacks and drinks and the front desk girls always have a smile on their faces. On my first time at the office the assistant gave me a tour (I never had that before!) and taught me about the sterilization process and how they take care of everything for you. The rooms are gorgeous! Everything is brand new! They even have those little cameras that take pictures of your teeth so you can see them (that was helpful because I had a crack on my tooth that I didn't think it was a big deal until I saw it with the camera, ew!). Lastly, the doctors are amazing. I've met all of them because of my crazy schedule and all of them are caring and charismatic. They didn't try to sell me any treatment, but told me that their job was to educate me about oral health and my options, so I didn't feel any pressure to proceed with anything I wasn't comfortable with. I woke up one morning with extreme tooth pain, and went searching for a dentist That had early opening hours, hoping to be seen right away. West shills Smiles opened at 8am, and for me in right away. Dr. Mike and his staff are wonderful! I am a nervous patient, and he and has dental techs were very patient and communicative with me, doing everything they could to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. Their receptionist, Rose, is the sweetest woman, and made sure to fit me in right away when I first called. I ended up needing a root canal and 2 crowns, and they fit me in as soon as possible. Just had my crown fitting yesterday, and I am very pleased with the whole experience. I can't say enough good things about this office and team. I love coming here to see Dr Sturgeon for my dental work and Elham for my teeth cleanings. Dr. Sturgeon is so gentle and does GREAT work. Elham is AMAZING. She is the first (and only) hygienist to actually take the time to educate me on the importance of oral hygiene and the downfall of not having regular cleanings. Before Elham, I would go way too long without being seen because 1) I was ignorant and uneducated and 2) all other hygienists I had been to really hurt me while doing their thing. Not with Elham. She always makes sure that I'm comfortable during the entire experience and takes a genuine interest in me as a patient; she always remembers where we left off in conversation from the previous visit (details I doubt are included in their charts). Both Dr. Sturgeon and Elham are perfectionists, very thorough and always leave me feeling great about my smile! The only reason I would give this office a 4 vs a 5 is because of the front staff. They are nice girls, but the billing is always such a mix up. I have never had so many billing questions for any other dentists that I have seen. If you ever need a dentist please avoid this facility. They will definitely charge you arm and a leg for cleaning. They charged my insurance company over $400 plus they billed me for miscellanies charges for $66 with no explanation on what miscellanies charges could be. My basic teeth cleaning cost me over $500. They used most of my insurance deductible for the year. On November 23rd, 2010 I contacted Judy the representative letting her know I am very unhappy with the cleaning and the rough edges the hygienist left behind she said she'll call me back on the following Monday which will be the 29th of November I have not heard from them. I called and left a message and still not gotten a phone call back. BUTTOM LINE if you want to get ripped off and get the worst service please go to this facility. This place truly deserve a NO star read more
