On June 23rd after having an allergic reaction due to a mea. I began wheezing and shortly thereafter had difficulty breathing I called 911. Was taken to West Kendall Baptist couldn't speak while fighting to breath was injected with Benadryl, adavan and some other medication. This doctor continued to speak to me in Spanish. Had me wait for my lab results to come back yet the moment I wrote on that paper English please we walked out discharging me with a diagnosis of panic attack and history of coma. How does a patient call 911 after struggling to breathe eating only to be instructed NOT to see a gastroenterologist but to see a psychiatrist?!?! He removed my pen and paper and taunted me repeatedly telling me to speak became frustrated and discharged me with a DIAGNOSIS OF HISTORY OF COMA!!!! What in the world does me being in a coma at 10 have to do with an allergic food reaction at the age of 44!!!? if my case was out of his scope he should have dismissed himself and let a doctor better equipped both in my medical condition and language assist me. Even his own nursing assistance could not make sense of his logic or thought process. What doctor taunts a patient strugglling to speak more so breath! read more

South Baptist may have state of the art equipment but my first experience calling there was pathetic. Had to hold for 10 minutes to get an operator and was transferred several times just to locate a patient. I'm not impressed. Where's the state of the art customer service to go with the state of the art equipment? I did a sign for an equine hospital years ago that read "They don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." Typical of our society today I felt like South Baptist was below par in their initial customer service. For a new facility that is very disappointing. read more

Terrible service, suite 304 west Kendal obgyn First time coming here with 10am apt. And waited over an hour to be seen. Two people came after and got called in before me. Went up to the receptionist, and was told "you didn't give me back the form" what was the whole point of having the appointment ??? Why do you asked if this is your visit ? If you don't inform the patient what to do. Could've told me to bring back the form once your done. But guess what? I came to the emergency room with horrible cough and congestion. I hate when the ER ask for my main complaint in front of other patients. ( I feel like they violated HIPAA) the director of first impressions was well dress a manner but kept arguing about the reason for the question and not a solution to my concern. Let's move to the lovely triage lady scream my name once and I really couldn't tell who she was. Had to mention to her where was the customer service, and then it really got good. So she really didn't screen me because I know how to do a proper screening. My blood pressure was super high never mentioned it to me. Then send me to sit down on the waiting area. This was Super Bowl Sunday on the first quarter, I don't know maybe she was busy. Then let's move to the tech that brought me to the room. I am out of breath because my coughing is so consistent. The lady is speed walking to the room, I know she noticed I was lagging because I was breathing super hard. She gets me in the room tells me to wait. Procedual wise everything is going by policy, Care wise some star will be more than enough. The nurse comes in and I ask her it's a blood pressure 60% higher than average ok for you guys. So she asks about my main complaint I tell her what happened but she still doesn't seem to care about the B/P. I then mention to her that I have experienced in the medical field and feel that this is really bad treatment. She brings the tech than takes the blood pressure again and conducts a COVID TEST. By the way she barely went in my nostrils. 30 minutes later the PA arrives and I had to tell him about my current experience in hopes to at least get 2 stars. I told him of the lack assessment by the triage nurse. Ask him if the norms had change? The PA did do his job and made a proper assessment. He gave me something to suppress the cough and brought me some water which I asked 30 min ago. I have to be honest there were some flags but were stigmas and not followed by any facts. One more thing the blood pressure issue did slide through so far with no one re taking it. Update the PA forgot to put the rails up when he left the room. Probably not a good idea. read more

Had surgery on Nov. 19, 2021. Stayed in the ICU unit for 3 nights and the care was exceptional. In particular my nurse Brittnee was so caring and amazing!! She was very knowledgeable and sweet. She always had a very nice attitude which helps when you've just come out of surgery, are in pain and feeling weak! She took good care of me! The hospital itself is smaller than the Baptist on Kendall Drive but it is only 10 years old, state of the art, very clean and modern. I felt so good having surgery at such a new and clean facility! read more

Convenient is the only perk of this place. Always crowed with an extremely long wait. Once you get past screening they will leave you on a bed in the hallway for hours and forget about you. I was there with my 22 year old who was in severe abdominal pain and she was the unfortunate patient to receive care from a non caring RN name Gina. Nurse Gina had THE WORSE personality I have ever encountered in all of my years of dealing with medical professionals. The lack of a compassion exuded through her robotic demeanor. Hopefully, she was just having a bad day but, I doubt it. After several more hours my daughter began to feel better after the doctor gave her some medicatio,, she was discharged and we left, hoping to never return. read more

They have always taken great care of my Godfather, and his brother. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone. The nurses show so much empathy, and are very professional as well. The worse experience I had in my life. I had my primary care doctor here a few years ago, I stopped coming here in 2018 because of multiple issues when ever I came for doctors visits. They showed me every sign to make it clear that these doctors here don't care about their patients at all. It's all about your insurance to get your money. That's all they care about so I stopped coming. Well this past weekend I had a terrible skin reaction that caused my arm and hand to be swollen. I figured let me rest and take allergy medications that I purchased at Walmart. But until this morning it's still swollen. I arrive today to give them another chance to see what's causing these reactions. There was literally not one patient waiting in the lobby at all. Literally I wish I took a picture. Not even one!!! I showed the lady at the front desk if I can be seen as a walk in, I showed her my swollen hand, she didn't even care to look at it. She gave me the worse customer service experience and mind you I have insurance. You would've thought I was walked through the door with no insurance at all. She tells me that they have nothing available until 9-19-23. That's right September 19th, 2023!!! Are you serious??? I asked if I can Atleast be seen just to get a doctors note because I was excused from jury duty this morning as long as a doctors note was provided. She wouldn't even give me the option for that!!!! I said you know what, you just shed light on why I stopped coming here. I said I'm going to give me review on this place and you won't see me again. Why she literally said oh wonderful!!!! Went to surgery within 24 hours and the medical staff was incredibly helpful and help me recover from my surgery in the most caring and helpful manner I would not recommend any other ER of hospital where they would be able to get the care that it was needed on time of emergency and being able to get you back to yourself read more

Too much waiting time. It is the hospital that touches me in cases of emergency but the waiting time is a lot at the reception and then when entering the emergency room to wait to see a doctor, they would have to consider waiting more than three hours without even eating or someone who enters to say how one is at least. read more

This week was the 4 or 5th time either a family member , a friend or myself has received medical care at this hospital. The staff from the minute you walk in I.e security , triage, RNs , Doctors too many to mention have always been very helpful, kind, compassionate and caring. The smiles are genuine. You will actually feel cared for especially when you don't feel well. Let me put it this way I live more or less 5 miles from a baptist hospital that I will not go too , I would rather drive to west Kendall because I know the caring staff of Baptist west is always there. I give the administration a 10 plus because what they are doing reflects in the staff's genuine care. These employees love coming to work here. Keep up the awesome service to your community when medical service is needed. Oh and the service doggy and his owner that voluntarily comes to visit the patients is priceless. I fell on February 27, 23. I went to the ER west Baptist. They sent me home with a brace, and told me to take Tylenol. I have a fracture in my spine L2. They instructed me to call their neurosurgeon Justin S. Within 2 weeks. I called and got the first appointment available April 6,23. I called 911 and returned to the ER with worse pain , I could not move. I was admitted for one week. Then I was sent to rehab. I have confirmed my Neurosurgeon appointment 3 times for April 6. On April 4 they call me from the the Dr. Justin S.office that they can not get a referral because it is out of network and my insurance will not cover it. Is it possible that I waited 5 weeks for my appointment??? And they call me to cancel my appointment 2 days before?? Someone needs to look into customer care . read more

I want to preface this with I've been suffering with gastrointestinal issues for 8 years. I came in for pilonidal cyst and received medication that didn't mix well with me. I went back the following day because I had been vomiting and nauseous and was going through extreme pain in my abdomen (very similar to the pain I experience when going through a gastro flare up) . Upon arrival my immediate nurses and doctors were friendly and nice (hence the 2 stars because it would've been zero had it not been for them) they were vocal about the medication they were administering and even tried to help subside the pain. However when the next shift started the doctors became very dismissive with my issue because I smoke cannabis. They refused to give me pain medication and instead gave me a series of stomach medication for gerd and when that didn't work they gave me a sedative because they were tired of hearing me crying pain but refused to relieve the pain. They all came to the assumption that my cannabis usage was the cause to my pain and nausea. I informed them that it had been a week since I've used any cannabis and that the pain I was feeling was similar to my flare up pains. They proceeded to blame it on my cannabis usage because my cat scans showed up normal. I then proceeded to inform them that this has happened several times before, when I'm just beginning a flare up the cat scans don't detect it and then I'm sent home and a week later I return because I'm not able to eat or drink water and am constantly throwing up the saliva I swallow. To which the doctor replied again that it's my cannabis usage. I attempted to inform the doctor that cannabis has actually helped mute my nausea and pain and I've been using it for years to help aide me through my days of pain to which my doctor responded with a wide eyed expression and said "well cannabis tends to make people nauseous". So if you smoke cannabis don't expect much help in this hospital because they're going to jump to a conclusion that you're a druggie and you're there for a high not because you're sick. I was even bleeding from my belly button (which is a sign of infection) and it was still blamed on the fact that I use cannabis (down below is pictures of my hospital gown and the pus and blood that leaked from my belly button) read more

I watched as people who came in after me be put into rooms while they kept me in the hallway. Rooms opened up but they kept me in the hall. I lay here hungry and in pain. If I didn't have this abdominal pain I would leave. There's a woman in the room near me and she's been on her phone over an hour. Having a great conversation as though she's on vacation. We went to a Baptist urgent care and we were told by the doctor that we had to go to the main hospital ER immediately. Upon arriving we gave all the information to the admitting nurse and to the triage nurses. We advised them that I had a pain level of 9 on a 1-10 scale. I sat in the ER with that pain level for three hours, my goodness this is what triage is for. We arrived at the hospital at 8:50 PM and we're not seen until 11:50 PM, mind you we were sent here by the ER doctor at the urgent care. She said I had a bad UTI but the worse part was that I had pyelonephritis, an urgent kidney infection that could shut down your kidneys at any point. My urine filled with blood sat next to me for. 3 hours and this was emergent. Such a sad sad situation, hospitals are all about the $ very little empathy and care. read more

The only reason I am giving two stars is because the nurses that attended to me were very professional and cordial. I was at the emergency room in October for GAS. I received my bill that included my deductible and ER copay ($1,200) which I understood. However, since then, I've received even more bills (7 claims) from private medical groups for the ER visit. Even bills from providers that are not in my network. These are things they do not tell you or warn you about because they know that they can get away with it. I asked for an itemized bill of my ER visit and all those services and additional claims were already on my bill for the ER. Called my insurance first and was told the Hospital has to respond to that. When I called Baptist I was dodged and told I had to call the insurance and was not provided with any useful information or assistance. Healthcare is a SCAM! read more

My mother was always alone and when I asked if she was eating, her response was "we put the food there, we do not have time to stay there to wait for her to eat". Maria , the respiratory tech in the ER, was the sweetest person we have encountered all day. They took care of my father with the upmost patience and care. We only saw them for about 30 minutes and instantly made me and my family feel better. Even laugh a little bit. I don't even know how to begin this review. We brought my dad in through the ER on 12/31, after my brother and I physically removed him from Westchester Hospital because my dads condition was getting worse without any answers. He was sent to Westchester by his clinic (Leon). The moment we arrived at the ER in Baptist, my dad was treated with care and compassion. The PA took the time to listen to me explain his medical history. My dad had been diagnosed with end stage liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma back in May. Unfortunately, unable to treat because of his liver disease. It turns out my dad had sepsis and pneumonia. He was admitted for care and was there for 20 days. Sadly, my dad passed away on 1/19 from liver and kidney failure. I was with my dad every single day from morning to night and I was a witness to the care he received. I have absolutely no words to thank EVERY single nurse, CP, and doctor that was involved in my dads care. The humanity that was demonstrated brings tears to my eyes. The kindness and compassion displayed was second to none. I wish I could personally thank them. To the staff from 3 North, you all warmed my heart and made my dad feel so loved and cared for in his final moments. Went around 10:15 PM to get checked out at the ER for severe abdominal pain and the nurse up front forget her name (dark skin with glasses) did not seem to care much for my pain just asked me a few questions and told me to wait that they would call me soon (which took over an hour just to get a room). Baptist hospital has a TERRIBLE emergency room. It should just be a regular intake area because it takes incredibly long to be attended. Having brought my 91 year old mother to the emergency room after she suffered a fall and banged her head quite violently (head trauma) while on blood thinner medication, it has taken over three and a half hours and staff have yet to perform a CT Scan. Meanwhile, if there is bleeding in the brain the blood thinner prevents healing and thus the bleeding would continue. When we finally arrived at the CT scan area of the hospital what I was told by one of the staff is that the staff in the area where she was held (a room) prior to being wheeled over to the CT scaning area were responsible for the delay. They told me that ... while at the same time informing me that it would take at least another half hour to forty five minutes before she could be sceen. This is not a real emergency room ... its more like just a regular intake area. Miami definately needs a real emergency room because if this is the best that Miami residents can expect we will need to be more cautious not to get into situations which require immediate medical attention. read more

Nice new hospital with clean rooms but WARNING, without insurance your bill will be incredibly high as usual because our healthcare is never affordable! I was charged $440 when I went to the ER and all they did was put glue on my finger to seal it, not even one stitch. Tip: Always ask for an itemized bill to make sure they aren't overcharging you. read more

This hospital is very appealing to the eye. I love that it's new and therefore doesn't look as run down as others do. Parking can definitely be an issue sometimes. Overall decent experiences at this hospital. A close friend of mine gave birth here and was very pleased with their services. Nurses were attentive and took good care of her. I've had to check in here myself, a couple of times, through the ER. Didn't have to wait long in lobby before I was called in but did have to wait once inside, 2 hours being the least and 4.5 hours being the most. Service wasn't stellar each and every single time, having to wait 10 mins for a pair of socks is a bit much in my opinion, but it wasn't bad either (except being left in the hallway even after rooms became available). All in all, it is what it is with hospitals. I only strictly go in a real emergency. Otherwise I rather stay home, tough it out and save myself a couple of thousand bucks (patient responsibility after insurance company has paid). read more

Great Hospital. I have no doubt this location will grow to be even better than the larger Baptist. They have great doctors on staff. Everything is always clean and organized. They have a community program which is heavily involved in community events. We have attended several of them! (art festival, 5k's to benefit different organizations, and much more!). Food is healthy and great tasting, they even have a station for burgers to be made on the spot! Salad bar available, daily specials etc. The one thing i am awaiting is a NICU, as of now, they have L&D, but no NICU. Imagine delivering a baby, and that baby needing NICU, and having to be transferred, while mother stays behind. Hopefully soon! Cannot wait to continue seeing this hospital expand! read more
