Came here for a program today and really enjoyed myself. The kids are adorable and sweet. The staff is super nice as well and are so involved. I've never been to this hospital but the rooms are nice and spacious. Most importantly it was clean. I'm sure you all are thinking "well it's a hospital so it should be". However, you'd be surprised. Overall I think this is a great home away from home for the children and their families to be comfortable for the duration of their stay. read more

this is the worse hospital I have ever been in!!! everyone is sooo rude!! even the security lady, I tried to talk to her and she was so rude! even the lady's in the reception and registration, they also were very rude and did not wanted to accord my insurance even if my insurance themselves called them to talk and they said they did not want to talk to the insurance company and they were saying I need to pay the full payment (like I did not have any insurance). they were very annoyed by me because I was taking too long with them, they did not even had any manners not even when I left because they were so rude (even my insurance company said they lack custumer service and they treating them so rude). DO NOTTTT recommend this!!!!! They did not even let me in to the clinic I wanted to go because I needed to de the registration and when I tried To do the registration they said I was paying almost 200 dollars evnt though my insurance themselves called and said I did not had to pay anything. I was scared to go to this hospital because of the reviews, but I had a safe and fast delivery thanks to Dr gerrity. As a first time mother I was extremely nervous about what was gonna happen. Thankfully nurse Tony was always there for me when I needed help or when to call the doctor because my contractions were getting stronger. Nurse Tony was a night doctor and I guess she decided to stay with me through the delivery she and dr gerrity helped me through my delivery and they helped me stay calm. My daughter was born with a fever but I had hope she'd get better quickly, in two days I was home. My baby was born on my anniversary with her dad April 7, 7:07 and weighs 7.4. I'm extremely thankful for their help and service I recommend this hospital for labor and delivery. read more

I was referred to have my baby in this hospital cause during my pregnancy I developed diabetes, so I was being checked at the ambulatory facility in front until my c-section. My baby decided to come early so we went by the emergency, since we walk in every body was very helpful and kind, promptly took my vitals and my baby's, my husband was with me all the time they never ask him to step aside, all the time they worried for my health and my baby who by the way spent 6 days in the NICU. I couldn't stay in the hospital after my discharge cause My other kids so every morning I was there until Noon and in the nights I'll call to check up on my baby's health... They were always at my service, every question, every concern that I could have... Holtz children hospital is one of the best UM affiliated hospitals. It deals with high-risk pregnancies, neonatal ICU care, inpatient pediatrics, labor and delivery, and general OB/GYN inpatient care. The first thing you'll notice in this building are the elevators and the floors. They are decorated with certain themes (space travel, exploration, art, Miami heat). The doctors here really care about the patients. Between the residents, attendings, students, nurses, and volunteers, you will feel very cared for. Going to a hospital as a kid can be a traumatizing experience, but the staff at holtz try their best to minimize this. Kids are encouraged to be kids. There is also an organization called family life that provides games, toys, and entertainment for the kids! Best of luck to you! read more

I couldn't thank enough to the NICU nurses specially Rhonda from the Holtz Children Hospital. I have Cried so much out of emotions and happiness for this family because it also represents my family. Great very clean place, friend just had a baby, all the nurses super nice and extremely friendly. Lots of hand sanitizer, coffee and snacks for kids in waiting room but be aware of the person in the garage it's 10:44 we rushed here for emergency c section, lost the ticket to pay parking 8/25. The girl in the garage was extremely rude took 20 minutes to come down and help us pay the parking garage. The hospital is very nice but the girl in the garage right now is very lazy and rude. read more

They definitely saved me and my bbys with there c section expertise on high risk premi twins, very fast was very comfortable and the bbys are doing great in the NICU they were great to me during my Hospital stay as well Angels truly work here, I know my bbys are in the best hands in the country and I'm so blessed to have given birth here im definitely getting pediatrician here for the twins as well, prior to birth my dr here as well for prenatal care etc was amazing as well read more

Don't get confused with Holtz Children's Hospital with Miami Children's Hospital. Holtz is an amazing hospital with the best staff that are experienced and have seen things from all over the US and the world. Many people have lived and grown up in Miami and have not heard of this hospital. This is attached to Jackson Medical Center and many people think of it as Jackson. This is great place to get care for your child, but hopefully you will never need it! read more

We tranferred here from another children's hospital in MIami. Its appearance and location coudn't be any more different. The other hospital was new, nice and clean, with ****FREE**** parking in 4 different garages. Security guys were familiar, very visible, and literally always around in electic carts buzzing around. You could get monthly visitor passes. I felt safe no matter what time of night it was. They spent a lot of time making the grounds architecturally intersting and interactive. Cut to Holtz: Under train tressels with scores of homeless dumping their day's worth of collected garbage onto the ground to sort through. Hookers pickig up men and getting cozy with them right there in the open. No sex, but clearly like.. hugging and kissing and just being generally really gross and creepy to watch. Ive lived in "rough" areas in NYC and nothing compares to Florida poverty. They get admitted to the emrgency room and then discharged in their hospital gowns, and hospital socks and stand outside the parking garage asking for money. It is unbelievably depressing. I am going to in there to see my 6 month old baby who has been hospitalized for 4 out of his 6 months of life, we are broke, i lost my job, losing our house, and staying whever someone I know will let me. I don't need anyone asking ME for money. It pisses me off. Someone said security told all these horror stories of robberies and attacks. I do not see that happening. Once night falls, they all get pushed out and go to the Marlins Park parking lots. A cop is always stationed outside and there is a security detail at the Red parking garage all night. Doctors and nurses walk the area all day and all night. It is very well lit. Anyway. The hospital campus is extremely confusing to get around. There are 45 different ways to get in everywhere. The contstruction on 836 does not help. You will likely go a different way everytime until you find yourself repeating certain routes bc theyre easier. The Parking is a rip off, with this stupid chip coin you have to carry around all and not lose all day. Paying for parking at an emormous hospital is beyond scammy. The only plus.... PICU validates the chip coins so you pay nothing. Do not know about other floors/units. There is also a pass you can buy for $5 that will last you a week, and you can get up to 20 of them. Have to go to "Parking Garage Office". There are options, you just have to know about them. The inside of the hospital is dated. It's not been redone in a long time. The rooms are really small. They have a fold out chair bed in the back of the room for 1 person to sleep. Some rooms have private bathrooms. My sons bed and equipment take up the whole room. I would sleep here if he was having particulaly bad day. I have slept in the rooms before at Miami Children's. It sucks but sometimes you have no choice. There is no privacy curtain. The nurses are very nice. I was told by Miami Children's not to expect the same level empathy that they give. And while I havent yet seen "empathy" from people (you usually don't, its not just here), the nurses here have been very nice. MOST nurses everywhere have fake empathy. They say generic things, and slip out of the room if you start to get heated. Even if theyre being really nice. Here e some of the tougher ones who have said they are not easily taken by kids, have fallen for my son. They ask if I need anything, they heed my requests, they move my questions along to the right people. The doctors are serious. They are not super jokey, but sometimes they try to be. The men are a little more jokey than the women. The women doctors mean business. The PICU corridor is really ight. The nurses stations are right in front of all the rooms, so they are literally RIGHT there. It is crowded and congested at times, especially during rounds. It can get loud, but generally the area is contained and well managed. Several times a patient has coded and 50 people come sprinting from all directions and go to the room. They are on top of things. I feel safe here and I feel safe with son here. Someone mentioned that they are not specilists in gastroenterology... Im not sure what shes talking about bc my son is here for a liver transplant and while yes that mainly surgery, gastro enterology is the main group involved. Dr Garcia is very highly regarded here, she is another one who means business. People tranfer here specifically for this kind of stuff, so Im not sure why they'd have transferred out. They aren't the best about breaking news to you. Its harsh and not always what you want to hear. Doctors have a way of trying to manipulate the tone of the conversation or steer you in a certain cirection, or just hit you like you have soul and will just take the punches endlessly. That is everywhere. Not every doctor, but everywhere. So far we are ok here. We will know more about whether he can get a transplant soon, and maybe I will update then about our experience. read more

Our baby decided to come a little early and so we spent a couple months in the NICU at Holtz. When you spend as much time at the hospital like we did, the nurses become like family. We are so thankful to be home with a healthy little one, but miss all those wonderful nurses like crazy. Thank you, thank you!!! read more

People who say appearance doesn't matter. They lie, this hospital makes enough money to do a better job with their appearance. Since I moved here, we've been to 4 different hospitals, and by far, this is the ugliest! Walking through the halls is depressing, as if your on your way to death. We spent two weeks here as Holtz Children's patients and the rooms are ugly and you have to share sometimes. The equipment is old, the parent beds are old and uncomfortable, the patient beds are squeaky and loud. The staff are great. They got the people part down. I did my research late, and found out they don't even specialize in Gastroenterology. So we switched to a hospital that does. The food is horrible and the area is sketchy. One night they had security walk me to my car. The man told me the crime rate is so high around the hospital. Crack heads and robberies are common. He told me that sketchy people pull up and drop off gun shot victims. Not only that, the last time I left here another security at the check in counter told me horrible stories and suggested I did my research and not come back. I'm glad I took him seriously. I hear this hospital is great for adults. As for the Children's side.... gross! read more

Once everyone got on the same page and going in the same direction, care was decent. Parent care is non existent and the cafeteria food is non edible only things close to eat are fast food in the parking garages where overnight parking is 8 bucks A NIGHT, between food and parking our EXTENDED stay cost me a medium sized FORTUNE. Also had to make arrangements to pick up medicines at local pharmacies DURING our stay because they weren't available in the hospital. While this hospital was the only one of the three that i visited to actually take me seriously and were able to diagnose my son...i cant say for sure if given a choice id come back. read more
