For the rest of my stay I was questioned about anxiety over and over again. They even sent a psychiatrist to talk to me about anxiety. I was even prescribed medication for anxiety. I was not listened to. I came in with soaring high blood pressure that started turning into a small headache. They kept giving me tylenol, which I know doesn't help me at all and I told them so but it fell on deaf ears. The headache turned into a full blown migrane. I literally had to scream at the nurse to get me something for migranes on my second day of stay after two hours of waiting for her to return with it. Most of the equipment is broken. The blood pressure machines hardly worked. They ended up leaving a functioning one in my room since my problem was blood pressure. The room was filthy. The sheets were only changed once after three days and only because I requested it. The cleaning person then came in with a giant flat mop and swept/pushed all the dirt and my hair into the bathroom where the piles remained after I left. At one point while I was in the bathroom, someone came in and started making the room up for a new patient. My experience was disastrous.

We had no idea what to expect as we are not from that area, but the staff from her trauma team (blue team - 6th fl west), techs, nutrition/meal staff, nurses, doctors, to her social workers with one or two exceptions were kind, compassionate, patient, and treated her like family. Latoya, Philo, Kenneth, Phillipe, Elsa, Blanca, Genevieve, Julie to name a few - you all are truly special people with beautiful souls. From the moment I met them, it was clear they have a sincere sense of integrity, compassion, and dedication when caring for others that can't be taught. My mom says "on all levels - empathy, humanity, efficiency, kindness, expertise". I hope Jackson Memorial recognizes their contributions when it comes to leadership in patient care, ensures pathways for growth and compensation, and protects them from burnout. It really made the difference for our family to feel so cared for. Normally our hospital preference is Tampa General, but if we could be in their care again for any future needs, I would gladly drive the 5 hours back to Jackson Memorial in Miami.

Now, even though this hospital may not be new and is rather small, it is a wonderful place. We had to stay overnight and most of the staff was so great in accommodating me, so I could be with my mom. My only issue was with the night nurse, Xiomara. It seems like she was slammed and overwhelmed, but when I went up to ask her a quick question, she was very snappy and basically brushed me off. The assistant nurse saw what happened and stepped on to help me with my mom. Aside from that, I really can't stop thanking everyone for their kindness and care. It wasn't easy, but they definitely made it better.

The reason I'm writing this review is because I had a very good experience w two employees there, one was the person at the front desk who helped me immensely to find where my cousin was , her name is Collette Tibby ( security front desk ) the other one was very kind and helpful when I was lost in the parking lot , and I ask him for information, he left what he was doing to enter the hospital and take care of me. He's Latino , average height, about 180 pounds and dark hair, unfortunately I can't recall his name but he was very kind to me, thanks to both !!!

TL/DR version: if your parents are members of the clinic, you'll have to keep an eye on their appointments and be prepared to call management to make sure they help keep your family members in good health. Oh and today (07/30/16) there was a roach in the floor of the "Emergency Room" as well as small flying insects. I took my mom yesterday (07/29/16) for neck pain/sprain and she was seen by an ARNP - not by a real doctor. Although she was eventually seen by an orthopedist all she got was a neck brace and pills that zoned her out without muscle relief. On either case, the orthopedist didnt even consider xraying her or ordering further diagnosis. My mom's symptoms didn't improve, and I called management to get approval to have my mom seen at another urgent care center. I was told there was an actual doctor today (I remembered when they always had a real doctor on call). My call today "got the fire going" enough for her to get treated today, up to the point where they ordered an xray but there was no radiologist on call. Again, there always used to be one on call. This clinic has really gone downhill in service. I'd advice you to stay away, or be in the lookout for your parents' health.
