A long over due update - The face of family medicine is…read morechanging. I was unhappy that my doctor of many years, as the doc before him, left the practice and there was not a medical doctor replacement. That's old school, apparently. My new health care provider is an "advanced nurse practitioner", Heidi Sedra. I've been through some really odd health issues the last couple years and she has treated them very well, or referred me to one who can with lots of follow up on her part. Looking back on my past health needs, 99% of my reasons for seeing a doctor could have been equally taken care of by a nurse practitioner.

I was a new patient in April 2019 and filled out a new patient form and their billing never sent…read morethe bill or any past due notices to me because they were sending them to a 17-year-old address. Then they turned me over to collections and destroyed my FICO score from 840 to the 600s. I made them aware of their mistakes 12-18-20 and I have yet to get an explanation or apology. I've had to hire a law firm to deal with their mess and it's caused endless grief and time and still I wait to hear ANYTHING from OFIM. I recommend finding another doctor if you're planning on going there. My life has been in shambles for 8 months and counting. If this happened to me it's surely happened to many others who may not even know yet that they've been turned over to collections and their credit is tanked. Stay away from Olympia Family and internal medicine or you'll end up paying more than you bargained for.

When my mom ended up in the hospital Dr. refused pain meds for her, implying that she was only wanting drugs and asked for a psychological evaluation for her instead. My mother suffered for 2 days until she was diagnosed with Bile Duct cancer. Dr. Cannon never called or showed up once to check on her, this broke my Mother's heart as she had thought that Cannon actually cared about her. My mother was dead within 3 months. My mom said she handed Dr. CANNON a long list of symptoms on her last visit. Dr said she didn't have time to go over it but would look at it later. My mom felt she never even bothered to look. This made my mother's death even more awful. My mom was an operating room rn for 40yrs and told Dr she felt she was dying. Dr sent her to a heart Dr.

When I received the bill from the lab, the bill was $2,187!!! Their billing clerk said the doctor's group decided to use that lab as it is "quick and efficient." However, it is out of my insurance network and I was not told how much it would cost, other than saying "it may be a bit more than your insurance pays." My follow-up appointment was not for a month and my insurance company said there are 3 labs here in Olympia that could have processed that sample in that amount of time. I contacted Dr. Cannon's office about the $2,187 bill and I was told that it was "out of their control." I replied - "Out of your control? You are the one that referred me there, so it was totally in your control." I am certainly not the first patient they have sent there. I feel this whole scenario is unethical, but for my own doctor to not even express concern, it made me question her as a physician who cares. My guess is that her office will continue to refer people to the WA Center for Pain Management and they will receive the same kind of treatment from both offices as I have.
