Great person. You can tell he really likes his job. He gave the best estimate for my task, picked the computer up on time and delivered it on time as promised (no charge for pick-up an delivery). He also showed me that the work was done properly. He gave free consultation/advice on some questions I had about efficiency, software and computer safety matters. Throughout the task he was communicative about where he was in the process. His estimate was accurate, no surprises. The turnaround time was same-day although I could imagine that it could be more if I had a more complicated issue. I called West Seattle computer repair because my laptop is not working properly. I got some really bad advice. He had mentioned that he does not do physical repairs anymore just software. The bad advice I got was he indicated that if it's hardware issue you're better off just go ahead and replacing the computer. I got suspicious and I took it to another shop who repaired just days for $149. Obviously if followed his advice this would've cost me quite a bit more. Next time he's just recommend a computer that does all types of repairs and not just software read more

I unwittingly installed Zone Alarm antivirus software on my new HP Pavilion which came preloaded with McAfee. When I went to uninstall McAfee, the Windows uninstall utility didn't work, and all McAfee's MCPR clean uninstall tool did was to wipe out part of the code, but not all of it. Subsequently, in most instances, I was unable to access the internet. Caleb was able to manually strip out the balance of the McAfee code and restore normal functionality without having to do a complete reinstall of Windows, thus saving me the hassle of reloading all of the data files and Outlook .pst file. I can't say enough good things about his service. He both picked up and returned my computer at our home. He spent an extra hour at our place (without cost) fine tuning the fix to ensure proper functionality. Throughout our coordination, he was in constant communication, even doing follow-up to make sure everything was working OK. Highly recommended! read more

Caleb is great to work with and always on time. I like not having to drive to a repair shop in crazy Seattle traffic. One suggestion make certain that you get a written, emailed or texted TOTAL CHARGE REPAIR QUOTE for his repair cost. He did charge me for every time that he had to do another service to fix the same issue that I sent my PC in to fix. He does charge per hour but the hours add up. Get a written quote. It is not unusual for a repair shop to do the same way of charging as Caleb did but there are a lot of repair shops that assess what is wrong and what needs to be done to repair the problem and stick to the quote. It was a couple of days before Christmas and he immediately came to my house, picked up the computer and diagnosed/fixed it within a couple of hours. I am really reticent to review this business for the sole purpose that I want to keep this best kept secret all to myself! I have had the unfortunate experience of needing a computer repair three times in the last 4-5 months. The first was at my place of employment - a veterinary medical facility where the computer which runs our digital dental radiography equipment crashed on a busy weekday morning. We called Caleb at 8:30 AM and he was IN OUR OFFICE by 9 AM. Not only that, he had the problem diagnosed and fixed (including supplying the part - it was a hardware problem) by that afternoon. The bill was slightly over $100. YAY!!!!! The second time I used Caleb was near the beginning of October. This time I needed help for my home office. My spouse runs a small business and we were up against a tax deadline. The hard-drive failed and we lost a lot of data including payroll records, client invoices, etc. Yes, we do have back-ups but not every single day (and we use these files every day). I called Caleb at the end of the day Friday and he agreed to take our computer Saturday morning. We dropped it off as planned and he was able to recover ALL the data and put it on our laptop and let us pick it up on Sunday morning. How's THAT for service? The bill? I don't quite remember but I believe it was about $150. The third time I used Caleb was just last week. My computer at my desk at work was acting wonky and all of a sudden I couldn't even log on, then I couldn't boot. Crap - another hard drive issue? Again, I called Caleb at 8:30 on a Tuesday morning and he was at the office by 9:15. To make a long story short, I got my computer back on Friday. Caleb had run multiple diagnostic tests and repaired/replaced what was needed including the hard drive. He reloaded the operating system and retrieved/transferred all data. He brought the computer BACK to my office and crawled around on the floor hooking it up. Did I mention that he fixed my sound-card problem? I haven't had sound on this computer EVER and now I do. Total bill? $229. WAY cheaper than a new computer which quite frankly, in this economy, our business cannot afford. Caleb is a rare gem of an entrepreneur who understands that a successful business person has to not just know what they're doing, but must also empathize with and serve the customer. In all three transactions I was totally convinced that not only did Caleb want to solve the problem, he wanted to do it in a way that satisfied ME - the customer. He was very organized, kept me informed about what what was going on, gave me choices about which way to proceed and gave excellent door-to-door service. WSCR is a breath of fresh air! I know Caleb can't be everywhere at once, but have no doubt that he will do his best to resolve your issue without you growing any unnecessary gray hair! read more

Mac users BEWARE! Do not take your computers here. Brought my computer here for a clean and THEY BROKE a cable trying to open my computer! They said they were unfamiliar with the mac model and broke it. Wow. Not okay. Now I am out of a computer for 5-7 days. Brought it to Apple Store who said breaking the cable is a complete rookie move and not acceptable for any computer store to have done this. West Seattle Computer refunded me for the clean and said they will make it right to cover the cost of the cable repair... will update review if they make good on this. However mac users should know about this experience!! Do not recommend!! read more

Caleb from WSCR is the best kept secret anyone with computer issues could ask for! I, like Zannie, kind of wish we could keep this to ourselves, but I'm all about supporting local businesses. My computer screen started acting weird and my wireless decided it didn't want to work anymore. I emailed WSCR frantically on a Sunday morning and Caleb came down to my job, picked up my computer and told me he'd give me an update on Monday about what's going on. Not only did his willingness to meet me and work with MY schedule (on the weekend none-the-less) give me a good feeling about his work, but the fact that he actually kept his word about contacting me on Monday, solidified my trust in his work. Throughout the whole process, Caleb kept me in the loop with what was going on with my computer and never made a decision without asking for my permission. Since my entire business is run off my laptop, he was very sensitive to the information on my laptop and returned it within 3 days. Not once throughout the whole process did I feel like an idiot for not understanding tech "lingo"- Caleb was very thorough and patient with explaining what was going on and what our options were. On top of this transparency, he even advised me not spending additional dollars on parts that weren't urgent at this time. Caleb saved me a lot of time and headaches that I know I would've dealt with at a "big place". He is a MUST see for any computer issues you have. Basically Robbed by West Seattle Computer Repair Here's what happened - I was given a four year old computer by a friend who could not get it to work. The problem? The hard drive of course. Now, I am not a computer expert, but I think I know more than most people... and after tinkering around inside the computer, I was able to create a new partition and installed a legit copy of Windows XP Professional. The problem? No drivers for ethernet! I could not get it online. I could not get online to get the drivers, either. So, I went to West Seattle Computer Repair. I explained what was wrong, and what I needed. He typed it onto my receipt, which was going to charge me 87 dollars to give me drivers for my ethernet. INSTEAD ---- five days later I went to get my computer, and was told, Ah, your hard drive is messed up, we can put one in for 240 dollars. That will be 43 dollars for computer evaluation. EXCUSE ME???? What happened to fixing my problem and charging me the 87? Why evaluate my computer for 43 dollars, only to tell me what I already know???!!! SO - at least I did not have to pay 87 dollars for nothing, only 43 dollars for nothing. My problem was NOT fixed. AND they were totally arrogant about it. For 30 dollars, I went to Office Depot and got a usb to ethernet conversion wire. That's it. Now my internet works. ALSO - instead of calling me at the phone number I gave them, which was printed on my receipt, they called my home phone. That means they did a search for my name, and called my landline that I have never given anyone, don't check, don't want, don't need. Sorry, that's just creepy and why don't you listen when I give you information? I will never trust West Seattle Computers again. read more

Horrible service. Customer service on the phone was rude to my wife repeatedly. They don't back up your data apparently, either. Told me they'd do a diagnostic check on my wife's laptop. No more than 2 days they said to diagnose. Over 2 days later and they've done nothing. Can't give us a status report on where they're at -- and they're rude to us after not meeting their own deadline. I had a computer that would not power on, and I was in the process of moving and didn't have time to deal with it myself. I called WS Computer Repair after finding their website and other reviews. Caleb was great. I called him on a Saturday, and dropped my broken computer off with him, and barely made it home before he called to tell me he had fixed it. When I returned to pick it up, he offered to show me what had broken and how he had fixed it, which I thought was great.
