This is a long overdue review. I reached out to Shade May 1st of 2023 inquiring about how much a battery replacement would be. He gave me an invoice and asked if I could come in the next following day. On May 2nd, I dropped off my MacBook and was told that the earliest it would be done is the following Thursday and the latest that following Monday. It's now May 10th and I still do not have my MacBook. I contacted him over the weekend and asked for any updates on the MacBook. He told me to would get back to me on Monday as it was the weekend. I have texted and called numerous times and have not received a reply. The lack of communication is ridiculous. I would not recommend this business at all, unless you're interested in having your devices held hostage. Edit: Shade finally got back to me after my sister contacted him. He told me he had a severe cold since Sunday night. I understand that getting sick is unpredictable, but he should've at least reached out to let me know instead of going silent. read more

Don't get your graphic card cleaned here. All they do is vacuum your card put new thermal compound and hand you back your card. Update the the owner contacted me asking me to remove the review. I said no, he show me picture of what he did witch proves my point. All he did was use a vacuum brush to grab all the dust bunnies and put it back together. If you saw the card in person it is was a lot worse. He didn't whips down the card. He is extremely rude. read more

I had a great experience with this company. When I installed Windows 10 long ago on my laptop it duplicated every song and photo in every file on my hard drive. Before I had a crash, I called here and he was able to remotely move my files and some programs to an external drive. He also ran several scans and found lots of malware lurking on my drives. He gave me some good advise on storing my music files and worked like a dog for six hours as I watched TV. Now that's my kind of service. read more

Came in looking to get the power port of my laptop fixed. I had the part, and all I needed was for him to solder the piece on. His communication is great. Responsive, patient, and made things very clear. Shared some nice small talk too, even providing tips on what I could do to make my laptop better. While there was some spotty communication at times, you gotta understand that there's a COVID pandemic going on right now so that's to be expected. On the topic of COVID, he's put good steps into making sure the drop-off + pick-up process was as contact-free as it could be - very thoughtful! Kept me updated throughout the progress of the repair + provided pictures of it so I was reassured that my device was in good hands. Oh boy- where do I begin? This has been one of the worst business experiences I have ever had. It has done nothing but wasted a month of my time making me worry about one of my most expensive and important possessions I own and crucial to my livelihood. I chose this place because of it's stellar reviews, ability to solder, and convenient location. Not. Worth.It. I texted back in December 2020 as is stated to do on the official website and got the number off of Google (since the number on Facebook is- incorrect). Never received a response. (Issue 1) I texted the number again in February 2021 asking if I had the right number. He responds and asks if he can help; apologizes for not answering my text and says someone else came in with the same issue so he thought that was me. Okay...a little weird you didn't confirm that but fine I guess? Scheduled to have my computer dropped off to be diagnosed on Monday, Feb. 8th at 11 am (a bit odd scheduling people outside the listed hours of listed business hours but I didn't think much of it.) I was told he needed to diagnose because he wasn't 100% sure if he could even fix my problem. USB ports were damaged- without opening it it's hard to say whether a little soldering will take care of it or if the whole motherboard would need to be replaced. If it was the latter I would need to go to the parent company to be replaced. Diagnosis was said to take about 48hours. I do not hear from him by end of day on 11th so I messaged him on the 11th asking for an update; no response (issue 2) Monday, February 15th I text again and receive a reply on the 16th saying that he has not been in since Thursday the 11th due to the snow. That he will update me before the end of the day with any luck. Once again, odd that it should have been diagnosed by Wednesday and you were last in there Thursday but fine at least I'll have an update by end of the day right? Never received an update. (Issue 3) I text (Tuesday) February 23rd for an update, (Monday) March 1st, and (Thursday)March 4th with no response. On (Tuesday) March 9th I tried to call and the phone would not even ring, on March 9th I also sent an email requesting an update. (Issue 4) I notice on Yelp and google that other reviews are coming in so I know he's assisting others; I email him again on (Thursday) March 11th to let him know I will be picking up my laptop at 8:30 am on March 15th due to the length of wait. I finally received a text and email on the 12th that he was out for surgery that took longer to recover than he thought and the office phone was unplugged and died while he was away. That he will have it ready for pick up on the 15th and 'try' to diagnose it by then for free. While I sympathize for his pain in recovering from surgery, it does not explain the appearance of people being helped before me when I have been waiting a month or the consistent lack of communication (issue 5). Today, I show up and try the door at 8:30 on the dot- wouldn't you know it? It's locked! I call and leave a voice message and text with no answer so I get in my car and wait. 15 minutes later I get a call that he 'just missed me' and that he's turning around now. If I didn't think I was being lied to before you can sure as hell bet I do now. I got there on time and you missed me? How? He arrived an additional 15 min. Later and I was able to finally pick up my laptop, which I can see from the thin layer or dust and my hair still on the keyboard it has not been touched. (issue 6) I wish I could more vehemently explain my complete and utter disappointment and frustration with this whole disorganized process and lack of communication. The hours I texted him are even all over the place because I can't get a clear idea if he works 6-9am Monday through Thursday as stated on Yelp/Google or 10am to 6pm as listed on Facebook and the times he actually responded to me! If you want to put your trust in someone and be friendly don't go here- it appears he will take advantage of the kindness by putting you on the back burner for as long as he feels like it. If you go and look at the other low rated reviews you'll notice a clear pattern of poor communication. I only wish I had seen a poor new review sooner so I could choose not to go here. Overall it's a shame because the two times we actually spoke (picking up and dropping off) he seemed to have a friendly demeanor. read more

Had a busted keyboard on my Lenovo Thinkpad T540p. Name of the business got my attention and the quote on repairs sealed the deal. The owner's price was far less than the competition. Entering the shop, I found a beautiful mix of custom carpentry and tech. The owner illustrated what he thought was the problem with some spare keyboard hardware he had and said he'd try to make the repairs without replacing the keyboard if possible to reduce the cost. Turned out that wasn't possible in my case, but the price even with the replacement keyboard was terrific. I think I had my laptop back in my hands within 24 hours, and that included a deep thermal clean (dusting, replacing of thermal compound, etc.) that I voluntarily requested in addition to the repairs. I have to emphasize the thermal clean wasn't something the owner tried to sell me on when I came in with the busted keyboard. Lastly, can't get over the owner's name: M. Shade Moon (he said his parents were hippies). Definitely coming back if I ever am in a bad place with my laptop(s) again! read more

This shop performed very good work at a very reasonable cost to us. They could have easily charged twice what we paid and we wouldn't have blinked because we knew we had some hardware compatibility issues and black screen. But they just fixed what was needed and didn't try to upsell any unneeded services. I should also say bring your patience. Because this is the best shop around they are very busy and it could take some time to get repairs completed and your equipment back. I recommend asking what kind of turn around to expect before leaving your stuff. It was about a week for ours. read more

I decided to try this place to have my laptop fixed due to rave reviews and their support for the LGBT community. However, it's a total disappointment and this has nothing to do with the fact that my computer wasn't fixable. The owner didn't keep their promise to follow up with me. I had to call 3 times total to check on the status of my laptop and every time, there's a reason. Then on a day I was supposed to pick it up, I told him I was about to come but was stuck in traffic. When I was there, the owner left already. I didn't expect him to wait for me later than the business hour but he could have called so that I didn't have to fight the traffic. I gave 2 stars because at least he was willing to copy some of the folders from my laptop to my ext hard drive but I wouldn't come back here or recommend this place. read more

Our son's old Dell Vostro laptop died, and we brought it to Twilight in last ditch effort to savage it. Shade checked the connection, ordered an AC jack to test and diagnosed the issue to be the motherboard. When it's clear that there is nothing more to be done at reasonable cost, we got the laptop back at no cost. This was way more than I would expected. Other places may have charged for diagnosis time. I don't know what this guys deal is - but service is a 0. I dropped my son's laptop off for repair - his laptop monitor and keyboard needed to be fixed. I was told I should hear back in a few days and he would call with exact prices. Never called. I contacted him a few days later and he was so rude and said "I haven't had a chance to put a quote together...that's why I haven't called you". He then said he would have a quote that day. Never got a call. I sent him a text a week later and just got fed up and picked the laptop up. Horrible service and no follow up. Not the way to treat customers! read more

I have taken my laptop in to him, and a different desktop in to him, since my review of 5/21/2016. In both cases, he was accurate and fast with the diagnosis, he was inexpensive and faster than any other in the past with the repair, and handled it in such a way as to not hit me with a bunch of charges. (Never again to a certain OTHER shop in Renton!). He tells you if you can get a needed repair item in Best Buy or Frys instead of charging a profit on parts. He has fully earned my confidence and trust. Updated Jan 2020: Just reaffirming the above previously: I have three machines. Every time I have need, I have brought to him, and it's the same great result. The most recent was to bring my Win 7 laptop to update to Win 10, and it had a couple other issues. When my 6 year old Dell laptop hard disk failed and the computer would not turn on, I was in absolute panic that I would permanently lose all of my files. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I wasn't sure if I would be able to find anyone who could help. Twilight Laptop Repair to the rescue. I texted a description of my computer problem to the store's phone number, received a very reasonable price quote, I was able to drop off my computer to the store by appointment, and I was able to retrieve my files and get back to work all in the same day. For sure my #1 go to PC shop from now on! I originally went to the retail store that had built my PC because it wasn't turning on. I went to their service department and spoke with one of the kids there. He couldn't care less about what I had to say about the problems I was having. He proceeded to tell me the flat rate price of the diagnostic (which was not one bit cheap) and that it would take 3 days.... I didn't have 3 days to wait around just to hear what could be wrong with my PC. So I did some searching on the internet and found Twilight Laptop Repair and drove there immediately. As soon as you walk in you know that the person who owns this shop cares about their craft, because of how clean and presentable the shop is. I was greeted by who I believe is the owner and told him what was wrong with my PC. He tells me that he thinks its probably just a few loose wires and that it shouldn't take any time at all. I was told the price of the diagnostic (which was surprisingly affordable) and he said if it was just the loose wires then he wont charge me anymore than the diagnostic price. I had shown up a few hours before he closed so he said there's a good chance he could be done the same day and if not then for sure the next day. As I handed my PC over to him he said "I'm excited to start working on this to see whats going on with it". That gave me such a great feeling that made me know my PC was in good hands, these things aren't cheap at all so just knowing that he has such a passion for his craft made me worry free and I knew my PC was in good hands. The next day I was texted that my PC was ready for pickup and a small text about what was wrong with it (wires had come loose). I went in and picked it up (no extra charge) and chatted with him for a minute and thanked him. I recently had a tragic accident when my friend spilled soda on my laptop while we were gaming. I got it shut down and dried super quick, but all the keys were sticking down. The staff at Twilight was very understanding, I got a 15 min drop off window and they talked to me from a proper social distance when I got there. Excellent customer service in the middle of a pandemic. After diagnosis it turned out it was only my keys that needed to be cleaned and nothing else got damaged. I was grateful for that. I cannot thank Twilight Repair enough for the quality of their troubleshooting and repair skills. My gaming laptop requires a lot of detailed disassembly to get at anything. Sent the laptop in as it got the error C0000034, the owner quoted me $45, it was noon time Jan 11, I called later that day, he told me the fix was under going, Jan 12, morning and afternoon I called respectively and was told it was still not fixed yet, still running, don't know when it would be done. Jan 13 - 15, weekend and holiday, called, nobody answered, not working days, ok I got it. Called Jan 16 around 10am, was told "the laptop still refuse to be fixed", I asked when then it would be ready to pick up, and I was told it would be okay to pick up in 45mins. So I went to pick up the laptop, but charged $102 incl. tax, asked why, owner said he needed to fix lots of stuff, spent "3 hours" on it! What!!!!! I am happy to pay as long as agreed on, but hate the feeling of being treated like a fool. Will get help from others next time. read more

I took my computer in because I had an admin password blocking me from installing games. He charged me only $25 and had it done within 15 minutes. He even put a bag on my computer so it wouldn't get wet in the pouring rain as I took it to my car. If I ever need anything for my computer that I cant do myself, i'm going here. read more

Today, my son knocked my laptop off his lap onto the floor, and broke the screen. I called several computer repair shops, including two in Seattle, to get quotes on having it replaced. Because I live in Renton, I decided to also call Twilight. Their quoted price was half the price I was given by the shops in Seattle, and they offered me the option of used or new replacements, which was nice. My son and I drove over to the shop, and the person on duty replaced my screen in less than 15 minutes. He was very kind to my curious son, offering to open up the laptop and clean it for free so my kid could see the interior. When I said I was pressed for time (I had expected to have to just drop the computer off), he said I could bring it back any time and he'd clean any dust out of the fan for free. Overall, my experience was great. I opted for the used option, and the screen looks fantastic and works perfectly. The price was great. I can't say enough nice things about this little shop. We brought in a laptop that would not charge. We suspected that it might have something to do with the way the kids would yank the power cord when disconnecting the dc jack. When we brought it in and explained the problem, we were told that the charge would be $140.00 and that the repair would be complete within two days. Much to our surprise, we received a call the next day, saying that it was ready for pickup. When we arrived we were told that it would be $190. Now this might be where some folks would rush to leave a less than favorable review, claiming they did not stand up to their end of the deal. But that wasn't the case for us. Once we explained that the lesser amount had been quoted, they immediately lowered the bill, and were not only apologetic, but extremely friendly and professional during the whole exchange. We realize that sometimes the costs incurred to repair a computer can end up being more than anticipated and for that reason, we weren't completely opposed to the idea of having to spend more, but simply wanted an explanation of how it had ended up to be more. But rather than be argumentative, or aggressive (as unfortunately seems to have become somewhat of a standard these days in customer service) they were not only willing to talk about the difference but own up to the fact that they had said it would be the lesser amount. Although they may have ended up with $50 less than they had hoped, and may well have put into the laptop, they have gained a life long customer, because you can bet the next time any one of the 7 computers we have in the family needs any service or repair, we will return to Twilight Laptop without hesitation.
