Most know the main one, but there's a side entrance near one of the high rises that can end up getting you to the proper part of the platform if you'd like to optimize time. Other than that, expect the usual stuff that one would usually expect.

I used to go to Times Square then transfer to the NJ transit or Greyhound in order to get to Newark. When I come here, it's easy to get a ticket. Now you're able to use tap-and-go to enter the station. Typically I don't wait too long for the train to arrive, however, going back the wait ranges from 15-25 minutes unfortunately. Although I don't come here often, my experience is overall a decent one.

We would go for the day shopping and eating. The cost was $5.50 so it was worth the trip to go to the Mall near Journal Square and have lunch at Cheesecake Factory. This station has one of my favorite tile displays in a subway tunnel. I can't say how I would feel about taking the Path train daily to work but for our visits we didn't experience any issues. For me it's the only way to get to Jersey City!

However, the train itself is nice and cool once you're on board. No elevator or anything modern like that. The single entrance is in the middle of the block between Greenwich and Hudson. If you didn't know the precise location, you might miss it. Narrow stairs that are clearly marked for direction but New Yorkers don't give a shit about that so you'll be fighting the traffic of people on the wrong side as you lug your suitcase down the three flights. At least there are handrails! At the platform level, two ticketing machines and a staff person who can maybe help you figure out what you're doing wrong and call for help if there is any trouble. Christopher Street is an island platform that is not as narrow as some. It is on the New York side between 9th Street Station (towards 33rd Street Station) and Hoboken Station (towards Journal Square). There are a few benches and a monitor that lets you know the next two trains are not the ones you need. I got a cell signal on the platform but there is no wifi.

This is such a welcomed sight from coming into the older, darker Penn Station across the way. This new train station also has a food hall with a variety of food vendors, stores (including a Walgreens/Duane Reade), and a bar as well. There is a dedicated Amtrak lounge for first class ticket guests, and one for regular ticketed guests. All in all, this is my go to train depot when coming in and out of NYC by train.

I love the Moynihan Train Hall for the most part. I've probably taken 50+ rides starting/ending at…read moreMoynihan the past three years. I feel pretty good on commenting about the experience here. Overall though... Moynihan is big, it's spacious, it's bright. Outside, the architecture cannot be understated. Inside, it's beautiful. The modern upgrades it's gotten do not go unnoticed. Bathrooms are decent sized and always clean. Moynihan connects to Penn Station which is nice. The Food Hall is on the west side of the building, not too bad. Signs throughout the Train Hall help with directions for new travelers. Announcement for your rides can be overheard but it's best if you stay near the gates. There are ways to circumvent the long gate lines to get your preferred seat on the train, but I won't give away my secrets hehe. Note: if you have an early train (before 5am) you have to enter Moynihan through Penn Station which can definitely confuse new riders. My biggest gripe is their lack of seating. This isn't a new thing, it's been known. Passengers and visitors rely on the floor for rest. There is a boarding seating area for paying passengers but it gets full quickly, and it's tucked away which disallows users to use the benefits of the new Train Hall. Passengers can find seating in the Food Hall as well, but it's not the same thing as a few benches near the gate entrances.
