I just moved to the area and heard nothing but good things about these guys. I went in today around 11 and was lucky to only have to wait a minute. Gregg cut my hair and did a great job! He was attentive and I left with exactly what I wanted. I'm a stickler for details and this place delivered. Everyone is friendly and the atmosphere is vintage and cool without the gimmicks. Although offered one as soon as I sat down, I didn't get the complimentary beer this time but it gives me an excuse to go back in a few weeks. These guys cut great hair...but holy moly...they are the most high maintenance folks you will ever meet - especially Mackenzie. He's always angry...always pissy. Gregg is a good guy and makes you feel comfortable. They recently moved...and as you can see by the address on Yelp - haven't changed it anywhere but on an 8pt font yellow banner on their website. Yeah...I'm sure everyone has seen that. Btw...they're not even at their new address. There are signs on the windows of the Box Factory pointing you inside. Nope...not there. Around the corner. Again, great haircuts - really great haircuts...you just need to get past the Top Secret website to schedule (my god...it's a haircut...not a nuclear fuel facility) and the attitude. I've been in Bend for a few years, and the wife never gave great reviews every time I got a haircut. Happened to see the West Side Barber Shop while dropping by the NW market one Saturday late this past summer and thought I would give them a try during the following week. Had an appointment with Travis--playing it safe with the owner, but he was running behind and asked if it was okay for Jake to cut my hair. I am sure Travis is good, but Jake did a fantastic job (the wife is very happy) and I will definitely be staying with him going forward. read more

OK, normally I would give this barbershop a five star rating. It's been my go to shop for several years now, and I've always had my hair cut by Tim. Trouble is, the guy is good, and has become so damn busy that it's nearly impossible to get in with him because of the ridiculous call, hope and wait system they use for preferred barbers. Even if you do call and put your name on the board, you're not guaranteed of getting right in when you arrive, an you can expect a wait. Get with it, guys, and let your valued customers set real appointment times. So that's part of the reason I'm giving this review three stars. The other factor. is that I got a substandard haircut this last time. Tim was overbooked, so I sat down in the last barber chair farthest from the front door, because the guy was able to get me right in. I didn't get the haircut I was anticipating, although I wasn't a horrible haircut. Admittedly, I've had worse haircuts over the years, but it's been quite a long while ago. When I said I wanted my hair over the ears, the barber took that to mean above the ears. And he also left the neckline with a stark, straight weight line which will look like shit when it begins to grow out. I had asked for a tapered neckline.. Oh, well, it's only hair, and it will grow out again. But come hell or high water, you can bet Tim will be cutting it next time. read more
