This place does not deserve business aside from hopefully getting these cats to a safe and loving home. The woman who runs this place is extremely unprofessional. You can't get anyone on the phone and the communication is awful. We put in an application for a cat and we were berated about the last time we took our cats to the vet. They also ask questions like your annual income for some reason. She told us that they would not process our application until we got our cat's shots up to date. We very promptly got all of our cats established at a vet and got all of the shots up to date (within days). She told us to call once we did that. We called MULTIPLE times and never got a return call. The conditions of this place are suspicious. She is so worried about other peoples vet schedule when the cats here appear to be sick. Numerous cats were sneezing and one cat had an eye that looked infected. We decided to drive the hour there because we knew we wouldn't get a call back and had found a cat we desperately wanted to adopt and get out of there. When we walked in the owner had her feet up on her desk and was on her phone. We explained that we were told to call when we got our cats shots updated but didn't get a call back so we came in. She immediately went on the defensive and said the issue wasn't as much the shots but was the frequency in which we took our cats to the vet. She even dragged my RECENTLY DECEASED cat into it and basically said it was my husband and I's fault she died FROM ORAL CANCER. I asked why she didn't call us before we drove there and she basically said they are "busy" and that she never told us to drive there. Everyone was literally just sitting around doing nothing. They clearly want these cats to just stay here because no one is good enough for them to adopt. read more

firstly, the lady was rude when we walked in. it was 1:53 pm when we arrived there from over 40 mins away to look at cats, and they opened at 2pm. Opened the door and asked if we could come in, cause another gentleman was there too looking at cats, and the helper said 'we don't ACTUALLY open for another ten minutes and we're still cleaning but sure'. Uhhhh okay, you could've just said to wait five more minutes or something. then we go look at cats, and none of these helpers know how old the cats are, we asked 1 or 2 other people how old certain cats were everyone one of them was not the nicest in saying 'I don't know you're gonna again to ask the front desk' okay????? Btw some of three kittens and cats were definitely underweight while I was petting them. so then I go through the whole adoption application process and conversation, I told them that I had just recently lost my 14 year old cat, and I was looking to rescue one. fine cool, fill it out, Monday they call my vet to check records for my three dogs ( chihuahuas and 1 bichon/ Maltese mix ), and they message me and say 'your cat has no record being there', I explained that she hadn't been at that particular vet, and I had found her as a kitten under a trailer and I obviously treated her when she was young, but she didn't have regular vet visits - especially as she got older, she hated being picked up and touched, and would growl. she was an indoor cat, healthy all the way up until she passed and that was only because she had an internal infection that is hard to catch until it's progressed a lot, so it was either invasive surgery as a senior cat, or putting her to sleep otherwise it would've killed her slowly. they read my message and didn't even bother replying. I drove over 40 mins to look at the cats, and who would pay $80+ if they weren't going to care and love the animal. this was Monday, and it's been three days. I get it if you decided I wasn't a fit to adopt because my previous cat didn't go to the vet enough for them apparently, but they just ignored my message and ghosted me. At least do the courtesy of professionally turning me down. would never recommend this place ever. read more

Absolutely the WORST place to go to adopt a cat!!!! The so-called "director" is a woman that hates people in general. She is one of the rudest people I've ever met in the world of animal care. She told me when I was filling out the application that she would not approve me because I would have allowed my cat to come onto the deck with me. They want every bit of information about you, your pets, your vet, where you live, where you work, what your finances are, and on an on. Yet what qualifications do any of them have? Several cats & kittens had crusty eyes, and mucous running from noses and mouths. These people have no qualifications other than to run their power trip on people and imprison cats for the rest of their lives. read more

I brought in an injured stray cat with a broken leg and bite wound on her face. NONE of the employees were wearing masks during the middle of a global pandemic. They were extremely nasty and rude to me when I could not offer them a donation. The staff screamed at each other to "Put the FUCKING cat in a different carrier and put it somewhere. I'm busy." I hope that cat gets treated nicer than I was. Will NEVER step foot or bring a cat to them again. read more

Not much of a rescue place when they can't even be concerned enough about baby kittens not eating. Maybe I'm just offering the wrong foods or the way I'm feeding them isn't right, did they ask or try to help, NO they just said we aren't vets. Asked me to surrender them only after I mentioned the kittens are a rare breed and when I said no, they messaged "whatever" and blocked me. Definitely be careful with this place! read more

so my cat went missing and I told them to hold her so I can pay the fee to get her back and I went to pay the feed and they told us to come on Friday so me and my husband went on Friday and then they told us they where closed bc of prom??? for there daughters but they told us previously to come that day so then we had to wait till or next pay to get her and they sold her I miss my cat a lot and the people are unreliable and very rude in my opinion they took away my love read more

I've had nothing but positive experiences at West Side Cats. I stopped in in April of 2019 and found the most wonderful little kitty to adopt. The entire process was simple, yet thorough, and we were able to take her home that day. The experience was so nice that when we talked about adopting another kitty, we didn't hesitate to return to West Side Cats. You can really tell that the workers and volunteers care about the cats. A volunteer walked around with us and offered some comments about the cats as we were checking them out. We didn't find "the one" during this visit, but we did end up checking out their adoptable cats in Petsmart and found a wonderful little guy. I really appreciate that I have never had to be concerned about shots, fixing the cat, or microchipping, as they do that for all of their cats, and I feel that the cost of adopting is fair. I would definitely return to West Side Cats if/when I consider adopting another kitty in the future. read more

My boyfriend and I care for a few strays outside. A few weeks ago one of them hurt his paw really bad. Luckily he was very friendly so we managed to catch him and get him into our garage. We were heartbroken that we couldn't keep him and wanted to make sure he had the best life possible and never had to live outside again. He even used the empty liter box we had in the garage instead of going on the floor. I was trying to be helpful and I wrote a list of things we knew about him and anything that we gave him over the weekend since we had him for a few days. They were EXTREMELY rude. I had spoken to someone on Facebook the day before and no one knew what I was talking about. NONE of them wore masks. They spent most of the time we were there talking badly about people. When I told them his name is Reese they got annoyed and said his name is going to be Julian because they've already had a Reese before. They weren't even nice when we gave them $100 donation to help with his care. I'll NEVER go back there. I really hope the cats are being taken care of and treated better than they treat humans. read more
