I'm giving them 5 stars because they're affordable. I don't care about the old cars. This isn't a transatlantic flight, it's an 8 min drive. Jeez. It often takes Uber longer to get to you or the station than Westside. But they have modified pandemic hours and might have only one car working so don't expect to make your train without adequate lead time. Bottom line, I'm glad they're still around! read more

The absolutely worst taxi experience of my sixty years of traveling. Called only to be hung up. Never got adult conversation. Cab looked like it had been in several wrecks . Driver turned up radio when I asked a question. Choose Uber or go to White Plains where taxi drivers abound. West side taxi clearly is a monopoly that doesn't care about customers. read more

If and when you take the metro north (commuter) train from Grand central in NYC up to Hartsdale station, you find out that these guys are the only ones there. (seems there is a monoploly) Probably due to this fact, their attitude and customer service is lame. You feel like they are doing 'you' a favor. They ask you where you are going and charge you a 'fixed' rate. Rates are kinda expensive for the suburbia. Their cars are old and basically 'clunkers' read more

I will admit, this isn't the best taxi service. But I don't know what all the other reviewers are talking about when they mention all these awful experiences. Yes, the cars are outdated and old, and sometimes messy, but never gross or disgusting or uninhabitable. And the drivers have never been rude to me. Maybe they're not overly-accommodating, but they're also not outrightly rude. Basically, this taxi service does the job. It's really convenient that they're right outside the Hartsdale Metro North station, especially in the winter when it's freezing cold and you don't want to walk anywhere. So yeah. Very disrespectful operator. Aggressive, not well trained old lady. She's better sit at home and let other person do the work. They asked me to walk 0.5 mile to the main road bcos they refuse to ask their driver to come in front of the house. Don't recommend this ugly people and will never call and use their service again. I called them this morning because I didn't want my 90-year-old spouse to risk walking across our snow-covered, probably slippery circular driveway to get to his own car in our parking area. The West Side Taxi driver barely entered the driveway and stopped there, compelling the passenger to inch his way along the driveway, twice as far to get to the taxi as he would have gone to get to his own car. The driver just sat in his car and watched. I wonder what he would have done if his elderly passenger had fallen. Hartsdale is a shnook hick town that come rush hour everything bottles up in all directions and anybody who knows the town knows your a fool to use West Side Taxi for anything other than back and forth to the train and if u call the dispatcher Eddie and come off like your Gods Gift to the world and make a claim such as "U don't know who I am"..then that means your nobody and Eddie might even tell u that "U ain't Victoria G. so u ain't nobody..Call Central"..... Some people tend to be self centered in they're spoiled suburban surroundings and need to realize that West Side Taxi is not a private limo service...If u expect that kind of snappy well mannered service then I suggest that u get your own private driver as Eddie The Dispatcher does...I know him very well and I know this to be a fact about him...If u knew him outside of West Side u would hold a very different opinion of him. read more

After living in Hartsdale for several years, I've learned to live with lowered expectations out of West Side Taxi. I've learned to only use West Side for a ride from the Hartsdale Train station to my house, and NEVER the other way 'round! Better to have West Side waiting for you, than you wating for West Side! If you do that, you'll be wating a long, long time and have to deal with a surly dispatcher on the phone. Not worth it! If I am in need of a taxi to/from anywhere else, I get an Uber. This is the worst taxi company I have ever seen in my life....Today I called 15 minutes before my train time...The guy was so late...I ha no choice but to purchase my train ticket on board which costs much more. The guy who answers the phones is unprofessional, rude, and incompetent. This company is terrible...They are unreliable and their livery cabs smell like smoke and sweat. I don't have a review yet but wanted to add the following information to the site for my fellow yelpers since I wasn't able to find the information anywhere. I called a bunch of taxi cab companies in the area and asked for their one-way rate from East Hartsdale Ave to White Plains Airport (HPN) and when I should contact them to make the reservation. Interesting answers.... I guess they are not all on the same page in regards to pricing. I plan on posting the rates for 5 local taxi companies. West Side Taxi Cost of one way trip (cash) - $29 Required to call 24 hours in advance to make reservation PS. Yesterday I called for a cab, gave the dispatcher my exact locations. 10 minutes later I receive a call from the dispatcher saying " so what happened? I had one of my guys out front, your not the only one trying to catch a train. Babe." First off calling a client "babe" is unprofessional second off the cab didn't come to my exact location which is the reason the driver didn't see me. I gave clear exact coordinates of my location and the dispatcher understood my instructions. At the end let's just say the rude dispatcher told me to catch the bus! This dispatcher needs to get fired, because he seems miserable. Do us all justice and fire the DISPATCHER! He does not deserve to have this job that involves socializing with people. He represents this company poorly! I wish I could give them zero stars! It's a shame they handle their business in such a manner. They receive a lot of clients because they are stationed right by the metro north and because they are the only taxi company in Hartsdale. Awful attitude on the phone (which was no surprise from a cab company). Picked us up in Hartsdale and drove us to Tarrytown in a cab that smelled like cat urine and feces, but I put up with it cause I had somewhere to go. Called for a return cab at 1130pm and was told they wont pick me up because it's "too far", the same place they dropped me off at. I'll never use nor recommend this company to anyone. The only person I feel bad for is the driver who made a decent tip on the way there and couldn't get the same treatment on the way back. Congratulations West Side taxi, you've made my list of crap places to Yelp about. read more

I would have gotten to the destination quicker had I walked. The driver decided on his own that my driveway was too snowy and drove away. However, neither he nor anyone with the company apprise me of the situation. Considering that I was waiting outside right around the corner, it would have been about a 10 second walk to get to the cab and catch my train. Instead, I only found out that I wasn't being picked up when I called to follow up. At this point the cab was my only ride so I walked to the appropriate place and waited for the driver that was "on his way." 15 minutes later I was still waiting and ironically got to listen to my train in the distance. If you feel like enjoying nature and being cold, this is your ideal taxi company. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere. read more

My five stars are specifically for the driver. He could not have been nicer. He chit chatted, was friendly, personable. Made the trip from Hartsdale to Tarrytown great. Car was clean. Couple of rips in the seats but who cares?! The dispatcher on the other hand was nasty and rude and if I didn't desperately need a cab I probably would've told her to stick it. read more

THE ABSOLUTE WORST CAP COMPANY!!!! STAY AWAY!! A driver crashed into my wall and caused damage! They're giving me the run around about covering the cost. What makes matters worse, is that I was told that the person that caused the damage was an "upstanding" guy and would cover the cost. I'm only talking about a couple hundred dollars. It's been over 3 month, still have not received payment for the repair, and continue to be lied to by the company. I've been a customer for over 5 years, and this is how they treat their customers. I've also seen another cap driver with their company crash into a neighbor's wall, do serious damage and just drove away. These guys DON'T CARE about personal property of their customers or taking responsibility for covering the cost of the damage they've caused. TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE!!! read more

The drivers are reliable and friendly. They also know the routes without having to depend on GPS.

I accidentally missed my train stop and got off at the Hartsdsle stop. I was relieved to find out there was a taxi stand at the station (West End) but quickly found out that they wouldn't take me home because I wanted to go two town' s over. They said it was rush hour and they have to cater to the Hartsdsle people. I can't believe they wouldn't take me and left me out in the cold. Isn't it illegal to refuse passengers? Maybe it was the time they left me standing at the supermarket with my son for an hour, or the time they came to my home and pulled off after twenty seconds because someone else was in the car already and they must have been more important. Perhaps it was the attitude they gave me when they showed up late and I had the audacity to complain... a monopoly so they don't care to have cabs that don't smell like cigarettes or cut off in traffic. The worst! I strongly advise you to use an alternative taxi service. For one, the individual that dispatches is by far the rudest person I have ever spoken with over the phone. I was basically yelled at. Not even kidding. Like your job is to answer the phone and take down an address. Is it really that hard to speak nicely for the 30 seconds you take a call? Secondly, if you are a cab company coming to pick someone up, shouldn't you honk or at least call to say you're outside? Who comes and waits for two minutes then leaves? Good if you are getting off Metro North in Hartsdale. Bad if you need car going back. Took 30 minutes to get car five minutes away and then they brought me to Hartsdale station even though I told dispatcher I wanted to go to White Plains station to catch express train. read more

Not sure why there's so many harsh reviews. As someone born and raised in Hartsdale, West Side has (for me at least) always been a highly reliable, trustworthy, and affordable taxi service for the area. The drivers are always open to engaging in conversation with the passengers, which makes for a nice ride. Just as recently as last Friday's snowstorm, my taxi only took five minutes to arrive during peak commuting time and got me to my 8 AM train within minutes. As I said, I've grown up on West Side and definitely plan to continue using them as my go-to taxi service read more

I hesitated to call these guys because of the reviews, but didn't have a choice since I had to get somewhere in a hurry. Yes, they have a monopoly on the station. Yes the people who took my call were curt. Yes the taxi drivers don't wear seat belts and drive 40 on a 15. But coming from NYC, these come standard with any taxi service (and in my case, preferred). I didn't have to share a cab, but I can see how that be annoying and undesirable. With all that said, my 2 mile drive came out to $5.50. Pick up and drop off was quick. I didn't come expecting elite service but they got the job done. read more

I live in Hartsdale about 1.5 miles from the train station. I usually need a cab from my house to the station when I call and they always give me an attitude about driving me there. I guess it has to do with the distance but AREN'T YOU A CAB COMPANY!?? i still pay $6 for a mile and a half and give them a tip as well so I don't know what the attitude it about! read more

WEST SIDE TAXI is the WORST taxi ever! The dispatchers are rude and always lie to you saying the taxi is on their way and never show up. If you call back to find out where your taxi is the dispatcher will "5 minutes" you to death then finally say no one is around to take the call and hang up on you. NICE!!!!!! read more
