Love this beach! I recommend coming here if you want to have a chill day at the beach. It's beautiful, it's relaxing, and it's clean.

Pros: This is a great spot in South Laguna. Parking is easier here than the Thousand Steps beach. Today, I parked on PCH by West Street. The steps down to the beach are a relatively easy trek and aren't as steep. The beach has a few little coves with short, but steep banks of sand (be careful, the water rushes right back into the ocean as fast as it approaches the shore). There are a few tide pools to the north end, and a great little area on the south end to swim or board in surrounded by cliffs and rocks. Seems like a good mix of different people come here, and the lifeguards are super chill. Cons: There was a lot of seaweed in the water, but also realize it's the freaking ocean and just need to get over that. Also, there's no restroom on this particular beach. read more

Who knew Laguna had a "gay" beach? I sure didn't, but this is pretty much the go to beach for the LGBT community. You can find the stairway down to the beach literally at WEST ST off the PCH hence the name. Get ready for a work out on your knees and glutes, the stairs going down and up are killer. The beach is very clean since their are lifeguards posted throughout and beach police patrolling the area. There are also volleyball courts, clean water (but waves can be intense), and hot people everywhere. Enjoy. read more

I think that Black's Beach in San Diego spoiled me for all other 'gay' beaches. There was something about the big hike down that prevented grandparents and children from coming around, so it was really just youngish adults, or so it seemed much of the time. West Street Beach was basically Black's without the privacy of a cheer cliff wall. A basic stretch of beach, nothing particularly special about it, but it was clean and wide and nice enough. Awesome Gay beach, love coming here, me and my friends love this beach, and everything is so clean and everyone is so welcoming. It's like one bug happy family. I really love this place that's why I always tell people to come and have fun and hangout here. I wouldn't recommend this place to kids though. Other than that this beach is amazing. read more

This beach is the perfect spot. I go during the week and its never crowded. The view is great and the weather is always perfect. It does get crowded on the weekends as it is considered a gay beach. Not to worry tho, its not exclusively a gay beach. There are families and plenty of straight couples. For those of the LGBT this is the perfect spot. So warm and welcoming everyone is. I just came back from WEST ST beach today and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the crowd | people were. Traffic off the 133 was a bitch though as well as traffic in LAGUNA beach (it was hella packed). Anyways, it's actually more packed on Sundays than it is on Saturdays or Fridays. The gay beach is actually located a few yards before West Street (so pretty much by Aliso Creek beach). And there are two paths that lead u down to the beach. It was packed today but we managed to find a spot to park and lay down and chill and tan. The waves were nice too though there weren't many ppl in the ocean bodysurfing and such. Even though I'm 120 miles away I can't get this beach off my mind. Off the beaten path it's a destination that many do not brave. So it's great because it's not crowded. Bring your booze in unmarked containers or Starbucks cups. Skip the red party cup because the lifeguards are cute, not stupid. Also. If you smoke your freaking filthy. Leave your butts at home. No one want to be inhaling your second hand smoke at the beach. Be considerate people! Come on! read more

Just like any other beaches in Laguna, this beach is gorgeous. You need to step down a beautiful narrow stair to get to the spot. Enjoy the trees, birds along the way. This beach is not as crowded as other popular ones in Laguna, so you can enjoy your sun bathing quietly if it's that your style. It was known as a gay beach but I don't see a lot of gay guys down there. But it doesn't matter anyway. Will definitely come back!! read more

We met up with our friend from San Diego who knew about this Gay Beach and took us there when we was in town. Its a really nice clean beach, Watch the Ocean though as there is a sudden drop and the current is really strong so i don't advise going in unless you're a really strong swimmer, Its also great for people watching or just chilling out by the Beach for the day. Its not touristy neither as its a bit difficult to find which is great! read more

West Street Beach is Laguna's strip of gay beach. It's near, but not synonymous with, Thousand Steps Beach and the beach at Aliso Creek. Years ago -- back in the 80s and before iPods, etc -- there was even a radio station that broadcast from the beach. Everyone tuned their radios to that station. read more

My favorite beach (so far) in SoCal! It's clean, the water is gorgeous, the scenery is gorgeous, and best of all, it's away from all the tourists! Parking is all in the residential area, and not that bad, even if you have to park several blocks away. I went here on 4th of July and thought parking would be a nightmare, but it wasn't bad at all (just seemed nightmarish when I was looking for parking). read more

West Street Beach is a calm & secluded coastal getaway for the local OC man! The beach is just a few minutes down the coast from the main Laguna Beach scene, and is less traveled by families/tourist because access to the sand is via a smaller more narrow staircase. You'll find a long sandy shore, guys tanning with their friends, surfers riding the wave, and couples unwinding under the sun. West Street Beach is a local hangout with a good vibe, and that's how we'd like to keep it too! read more

I don't see why folks refer to West Street Beach as being a strictly gay beach - it is NOT. Families frequent it and I always see gangs of girls there enjoying the sun as well. The waves are okay, nothing super big, but lots of kids boogie board in them easily. Towards the left side, near the rocky cliffs, rip tides come down unexpectantly and it's pretty dangerous on the left most cove, but other than that, it's safe waters with Life Guards on duty during regular daytime hours. An absolutely beautiful beach that you don't need to pay to park at! It's also not crowded and without kids. While we there we saw seals and countless dolphins. It was very exciting. I only rated this beach a 4 because the waves are so big and the undertow so strong that you can't even get in the water really. You can stand in the surf and even that has a pretty strong pull. I'm a fat lesbian, so while I can't say the perfect place for me was here among the oiled, tight, be-Speedo'd bodies of orange county's gay elite, it was certainly more comfortable than having to worry about a beach full of people staring, attempting to explain you to their children, and being called a "faggot" - all things I have experienced at OC beaches in the past. I know Laguna is more gay-friendly, but I was still nervous upon taking my first trip there since I was a child. A friendly barista clued my partner and our friends in on this "secret" beach and it was even more heavenly than we had imagined. Gorgeous white sand, the brightest, bluest water I've ever seen, and the fore-mentioned gay bliss made this one of the best beach trips in my entire life, despite the thousand steps. read more

Decided to visit a gay beach around the town i was staying at. Very inviting and calm beach. There weren't a lot of people (just like 10, Maybe because it was Wednesday) but i enjoyed the calmness of this place. Hopefully ill return, depends on what day i visit the town. read more

After taking the long trek to the beach, you get to enjoy beautiful clear waters. Even though it's been dubbed the gay beach I typically only see young families and small groups of friends. Regardless it's very enjoyable. I recommend coming before sunset as the view is just absolutely gorgeous! Not to mention its the best place for a date! :) read more

Being a resident of L.A. County, our beaches are always crowded with tourist and dirty. This beach is one of the best in the OC, it's somewhat secluded and isn't crowded, but finding parking on PCH is a pain on the weekends. Be prepared to drive around for parking and then walking a bit to get down to the beach. read more

Went for OCPride and the beach was full. Lots of hot guys to look around. So surroundings was A+. Ocean was choppy and cold. It's more a people watching spot. Just bring your Speedo's and be seen! read more
