I went in January for a tooth that needed a filling but I wasn't due for my insurance covered x-ray. I was advised by Dr. Patel to come back in April when I would be covered by my insurance so she could see and then do the filing. I received 2 reminder calls about my appointment. The 1st went quite well. The cleaning and cavity could be done the same day after the x-ray. The 2nd call a week later the cavity was no longer a concernd but if they had time. I wasn't rude but was upset about the sudden change. I didn't care to argue with the person I was speaking to and asked for the doctor to​ call me. She did and proceeded to lecture me on my phone etiquette. ​Things went south from there. I was suppose to make a payment during the visit that never took place. I completely forgot about it. This week I got a notice I'd been turned over to collections. I received no bill prior to this reminding me of my debt. Obviously this was a tit for tat. I've been here 3 times now and every time has been outstanding! From the welcoming greetings, to the great care taken during routine services, to the quality of work done on my teeth, each visit has been a pleasure. Dr. Patel has fixed 2 chipped teeth for me, one of which had a chip repair done before by 2 previous dentists on the opposite side of the tooth. It wasn't noticeable but I could always see where that repair had been done. My teeth look so great now, and the repairs are so seamless, that not only can I not see the fillings where she repaired them, I also can no longer see the the filling from the old repair. She blended it so that neither of the fillings showed at all. If you need any dental work done, even if it's just routine preventative, go to West Town Dental in Ft. Mill & see Dr. Patel & her team. DO NOT use this dentist office. My wife and I used this dentist office for 4 years and was happy with the service given. Little did we know, that the dentist we thought was good was not. I decided to use the service for teeth whitening and paid $239 up front. Went for my first appointment for the mold impression. When I went back the second time to pick up the whitening tray, the hygienist said she had already given me the gel to go with it. SHE HAD NOT, and all but called me a liar. Long story short, I had to threaten them with the dental board to get my money back. Needless to say I had to find another dentist, to stay within the 6 months period for our insurance. In my first visit to the new dentist, they found at least 2 cavities under crowns that Dr Patel at West Town, had completely missed. One could easily be seen from the gum line. These cavities had been there for quite a while. The new dentist showed me what had been missed using up to date camera technology. Now I have extra expense due to her lack of proper care. Again DO NOT use this dentist. Their lack of concern and professionalism is why I cannot recommend them to anyone. read more

The dental hygienist is excellent!! THANKS. I moved to Fort Mill a year ago. I found the West Dental close to my house and changed all my family to the practice. The practice took many X-rays, including cosmetics; it is great I got great insurance coverage. I paid $10, but they should have said how much the cost was before they did the X-rays.No big I paid. My daughter went to her cleaning a few months ago. On the day of her appointment, she called me from the practice because they needed to do X-rays to do her cleaning. I spoke with the receptionist; I said okay, but only what the insurance covers, nothing else. My daughter wore braces, so she did not need anything but a good cleaning. After the cleaning was done, I received a phone call saying that I owed money for the X-rays that the insurance did not cover. I asked the lady to explain to me what x-rays were not covered, and she said she did not. She asked the Lady dentist who took care of my daughter to explain to me, and the DENTIST LADY REPLY: " I do not have time to talk to anyone; if she does not like it, she should find another dentist. The dentist asked the receptionist not to charge me." So I did not receive a bill . Following a very disrespectful comment to me on the phone and to my daughter, who was in front of the receptionist and the dentist, I changed my dentist. I went back to my Ballantyne. My 17-year-old daughter said she would never go back to such a horrible and disrespectful doctor. Maybe that is a valid reason for more X-rays. She could explain to me, but the dentist decided that I needed to pay, no questions asked. That is the wrong customer service treatment. The Dentist's office lost a family of 4 businesses. I would look for a good Dentist in Fort Mill next year. For now, my Ballantyne Dentist has always been great; I just prefer doctors close to my home. read more

I was charged $124 for my first Perio cleaning Oct 15, 2020. then on August 15, 2021, I was charged $172 for my 2nd Perio cleaning. During my next visit 12/6/2021 for the same service I was charged $141.60 for my Perio cleaning. These charges did vary and were not related to any other service, those additional charges were billed separately such as fluoride or x-rays, etc. Be sure to check your charges for cleaning services. I have since located a different dentist that charges only $124 for my Perio cleaning. read more

If you need a root canal and want NO PAIN whatsoever, COME HERE. Absolutely AMAZING and even for fillings! The always put numbing gel before they put the local anesthetic in and you can barely feel it. My root canal was super comfortable and they really made me feel at home. Melody and Summer are the absolute best. My mouth was barely even sore after the anesthetic wore off. 10/10 would recommend... the dentist is so careful and considerate. I recently moved about 30 minutes away from this office, and I will still be making the drive!!! read more

I just want to make others aware. I went to West Town Dental Care in Fort Mill SC on 03/30/21- 04/13/21. I was lure in by their coupon advertising. $59 new patient cleaning, $59 new patient exams, $59 patient x rays. Well they took so many x-rays of my teeth. I have never been to a dentist where they have taken that many. I told them about my coupons, but the girl in the office asked for insurance card. While I was getting my teeth cleaned my insurance was being charged I suppose. My insurance paid $550.That was for xrays,oral evalution, adjunc pre-diag test detect muc, tropical app fi vanish adult, perio scal/ root plan 1-3/quad, resin composite-1s posterior tooth 21 resin composite 1s posterior tooth 20. I Paid out of pocket $253 and today I received a bill for $39. Did I ever get a discount? NO! If you decide to go here to this place please do your due dilligence. I had a dental emergency on a Friday when my regular dentist's office is normally closed. It isn't easy to find an office that stayed open on Fridays in my area so as Murphy's Law would have it, I had a loose crown on a Friday which prevented me from using my partials and therefore would have prevented me from eating at all over the weekend. I called this office and they were accommodating enough to see me on short notice. I was concerned at some of the negative reviews I have read but was desperate and was willing to give this office a shot. I have to say that this was my lucky day. Notwithstanding the fact that I am basically a walk-in client, they have been courteous, cordial, professional, cheerful and treated me like one of their regulars. I was seen by Dr. Gray who has explained everything possible that she could do within the constraints of our situation. She remedied the problem enough that I can function until I see my regular dentist the following week. Her assistant Laura was a gem, and so was the rest of the front office staff. There was no up sell of anything (as one reviewer had indicated). They even explained to me how they would bill my insurance provider knowing that I understood the billing process well. The facility itself was clean, pleasant and the location was convenient. Overall my experience was very positive and would recommend the practice. read more

Only came here once. Dental hygienist excellent. Couldn't have been nicer or more professional. Everything else was a total disaster. Their was one of those new patient specials. When I explained I would be taking for that and paying out of pocket they looked at me like I had two heads. Utterly clueless and don't seem to understand that if though I had some insurance I wasn't using it and wanted to just pay the special price as I wasn't coming back after the bad experience. Dentist came in and maybe because towards the end of day he just wanted to get out there breezed through the consultation. Right before he leaves he just casually mentions that I need to get a procedure that he has priced at almost $2,000. Like the same way a mechanic might casually mention that your car's tire is a little low and you should put some air with it. Totally indifferent to the fact that ya know like most people shelling out $2,000 is a big deal. Also I've been to the dentists lots of times when I've had no or lousy insurance. There is an unspoken agreement by most dentists that in these cases they will work with you to lower the price. The price is just a quote and the typical dentist realizes you can shop around like any other goods or service and will make it more affordable so you don't take your business elsewhere. Apparently this philosophy is foreign here and they weren't willing to work with me at all. If you do fall into this situation and don't have insurance keep in mind there are a bunch of dental discount programs you can sign immediately where you can pay $100-$200 and cut the price of major procedures in half. I would have been a fool to pay their prices and thankfully Momma didn't raise no fool. I took my business elsewhere and saved a boatload of money (didn't even have to switch Geico). Apparently looking at the bad reviews I'm not the only one with a bad experience. Maybe if you go in and only need minor work and have insurance you'll make out okay but another else major or no insurance you're just wasting your time here. There's tons of other dentists in there. Hope the wonderful dental hygienist whose name I forget moves on to another practice for in line with the professionalism she exhibited but the rest of the staff there did not. read more

Stay away, very shady practice, they bill for services that you don't get or need, the insurance contract states they can charge a certain amount of money but they try to ignore that. They bill for items that are supposed to be included under certain services per the contract they agreed to with the insurance company. They basically look at what insurance will pay and attempt to max it out regardless of whats really needed such as saying a deep cleaning is needed when 2 other dentists state its not. Don't let the pretty smiles fool you, these people are crooks, they give dentistry a bad name. Both of the other dentists i visited said they hear nothing but horror stories about this place and they dont like that it makes people think all dentists are like them. read more

This is a very shady practice when it comes to billing. I have a credit of over 500 dollars that I won't use there, and we have not resolved this issue of me getting a check in the amount they OWE ME! This is just one of many West Town Dental locations. One employee let it slip they are a franchise, so it is not a self owned business and I assume that is why they treat people this way. I think employees are trained to be shady. My dentist left to another practice and I followed him, so I will never go back to West Town. Also, two top crowns I had made and placed by the other dentist at West Town do not fit right in the back of teeth. My best advice is to steer clear of West Town and find a true family friendly dentist that is not a franchised business. read more

I went for the initial visit with x-rays, exam, and cleaning for $59. I spent over two hours in there. They told me I needed some kind of implant an Invisalign. Obviously, I was not doing this. Fast forward, I am now do for my next cleaning. I called to make an appointment and asked, "How much is a cleaning with the basic state dental plan?" They refused to give me a price. Between my husband and myself, we had tried most of the dental services offered in the Baxter area of Fort Mill and just weren't able to find the dentist right for us. My husband hated the hard- sell he always from the dentist he had been using; as for myself, my dental issues were more complicated. I tried several in the immediate area and was left unhappy with the results both from the service and the interaction. Then my husband decided to give West Town Dental a try and was so pleased with Dr. Gray and the staff, I decided to try also. Dr. Gray along with her assistants, April and Laura, gave me back a smile I hadn't had since I was very young! Even more important than that was the fact Dr. Gray listened to me and was familiar with an underlying medical issue that would have an impact on my treatment that the other dentists had failed to recognize as significant. STAY AWAY, unless you want to shell out money for dental services that you don't need! The first time I went they had first opened and were very nice and accommodating. I needed a deeper cleaning done and had been quoted one price for the full four quadrants. I agreed and went back. The prices began to change and were higher than initially quoted, (I needed extra antibiotic etc.) Which I thought was unprofessional but I was in the middle of treatments and felt like I had to continue, because I didn't want to start over with someone new.I had gone a few times more and just ignored the constant upsell of services. The desk and the technician were never on the same page and I kept getting the feeling that I was being scammed. My last visit for a cleaning I was quoted almost $2500 for crowns I was told I needed, even though I had no pain or issues. I have since gone to another practice and shockingly enough my cleaning, x-rays and exam were done without an upsell , no one came in to "sell" me any extra services. AND I don't need any of the said work I was told I "desperately needed." In fact the dentist looked at me funny when I told her another practice said I needed two crowns on teeth that are healthy. I am livid at the fact that a place would knowingly rip people off. Dental is expensive enough and not everyone has insurance. I'm a self pay and I would have paid $2500 for work I didn't need because I trusted you as a professional . It's shameful. read more

I want to start out by saying I generally don't like dentists but needing to go to one after relocating I very much needed to do it, break down and get a cleaning. I also knew that after my x-rays I always have some sort of cavity that needs filling, just always. Anywho I decided to start my search and called quite a few before speaking to a very friendly person at West Town Dental. ( All the others, actually 4, offices never heard of my insurance and wanted to charge me a ridiculous price for a cleaning.) She informed me that there was a special running that cost $59 for a cleaning and x-rays. I didn't actually believe it at first but scheduled the appointment. After approximately 18 x-rays (very thorough) I had the dentist do an examination and did find a couple issues that my previous Dentist from up North couldn't. I did have a cavity filled right there as well, I didn't have to wait two weeks for an appointment. Another surprise was at checkout I did in fact only pay $59 for the cleaning and very many x-rays (I once had a dentist in New York run a special for an examination and cleaning for $79, but ended up paying $250 because they said only two x-rays were included and they decided to take 10 without asking or explaining it to me). The friendly staff also filled out my dental forms right there. I will tell you I'm not used to this type of treatment at a dentist office, all the workers there from the front desk, hygienist, assistants and the Dentist herself Dr. Gray were fantastic. They truly go above and beyond. I think I'm going to start eating a lot of candy so I can get more cavities just so I can see all of them again.
