I had a fantastic experience with Erin Lenihan. I had pelvic floor dysfunction from endometriosis that was worsened from child birth injuries. I felt very defeated and wasn't sure if it could be fixed. Erin expertly diagnosed the layers of issues and created a solid plan to fix it. I am so glad I decided to go to West Town Physical Therapy for recovery from a patellar dislocation and MPFL injury. I (barely) walked in for my first appointment extremely unsure of the road ahead of me, and Rachel proved to be a very integral part in my return to activity. She was always happy to provide her professional guidance any time I had any questions or concerns and was always very attentive to any feedback I would provide prior to each session. She would regularly take any feedback and incorporate it into my sessions which really helped zero in on any issues I had along the way as a result of my injury. Over the duration of five and a half months, her personalized program, which was very specific to my needs, helped me go from being locked in a full leg brace with very limited range of motion, regain strength and balance, transition into plyometrics, and prepare me to meet my goal of returning to my lifelong passions of cycling and snowboarding. I worked with Shelby, Rachel and Erin S at West Town Physical Therapy 2x a week for 10 months, and I give them 5 stars for leading me to recovery. I had sciatica and lower back pain, and they identified muscles that needed strengthening and exercises to build up better support and remove the pain. A year after my first visit, I am pain-free, stronger than I was prior to the onset of symptoms, have much-improved posture, and thanks to this amazing crew of PTs, I know how to maintain all this. I've been going to West Town Physical Therapy for the last 3 weeks since I fractured my arm in November. My breaks have healed but I had no range of movement. Stephanie has mainly worked with me and I feel I'm about 3 weeks away from being 100%. After minor knee surgery, I was lucky enough to work with the team at West Town PT. They were knowledgeable about how far to push me and encouraged me to develop the strength in the foundational muscle groups. Chronic knee and lower back pain led me to West Town PT, my randomly picked therapist, Rachel worked with me for several months, usually 1 day a week, on strength, flexibility and addressing my pain issues. I was at a point of no pain for the first time in a decade when I crashed my motorcycle. With Rachel continuing my knee and back therapy as DR prescribed, I was given a prescription for the now injured shoulder. Enter Taylor to my team. Work began on regaining mobility and strength of my shoulder. I can say this, my experience with Rachel and Taylor over months we worked together on my recoveries has been one of the best and effective medical experience I've had. I was a non believer in PT before and am now a full convert. I came in wincing at every step and unable to raise my arm after the accident. Prior to the motorcycle crash I was in no pain. I will get back to that and it's 100% because of the exercises and processes I was shown while under Rachel and Taylor's care. Erin is an awesome physical therapist. She is very receptive to the patient's ailments and helps design the best protocol for a speedy recovery. Been working with her since July '18 and the best part about going here is the one on one attention. Erin spends a great deal of time working with me, both onsite and off, answering any questions I have and providing the best exercise regimen for continued strengthening and recovery. West Town PT team (Erin, Shelby and Thomas) genuinely seems to enjoy working together. People laugh, collaborate, and ask each other questions. I am so disappointed that I have to give this place 2 stars. I had such high hopes from all the 5 star reviews here on Yelp, so I reached out to Erin via her contact form on her website and after a week and a half, I hadn't heard back. I called the office directly and the gentleman I spoke to was very helpful and gave me Erin's direct email and directions on scheduling an appointment. I filled out all the required paperwork and scheduled my appointment. A day before the appointment I finally heard back, and was told the delay in response was due to Erin having the flu, which I completely understand, and that the appointment wouldn't work out. She and I emailed back and forth a few times, and the last email I received was that she had a client who would be discharging soon and she would email me after the appointment she had that evening with more information on next steps for scheduling a new appointment. That was 23 days ago........ and despite emailing asking for a follow-up, I still haven't heard anything. The two stars (instead of one star) is for the the man I spoke to on the phone, because he was very nice and helpful. I'm so sad to not be able to support a woman-owned business and University of Michigan alum (Go Blue!) that appears to be so successful but unfortunately just completely missed the mark. :-( read more

West Town PT is hands down the best. I worked with the team after I got hit by a car (bummer) and had to get a series of knee surgeries. They immediately got me started on strengthening my leg and preparing me for the surgeries so that my recovery would be more smooth. Two weeks after my first surgery, my doctor even said that my range of motion was way better than expected (humble brag) and that a lot of it was due to the preparation I did at PT. I worked with Rachel there for just over a year and she is an absolute rockstar and knows so much about limbs and joints and all that jazz - I trusted her completely with my recovery and she tailored each session to my unique needs and the level of activity I wanted to get back to. My ultimate goal was to get back to running and just about a year after my first visit, I was able to get back to it - and improved my form while I was at it. Rachel really changed the way I approach my fitness and strength and got me back to activities I love. She also was a great support system throughout a challenging year. Additionally, the customer service is great. It's really easy to schedule appointments or change them if needed. Helena is an A+ gal and will hook you up with what you need - especially when it comes to insurance which is great because insurance is confusing. Lastly, the space is conveniently located on Ashland - close to public transportation. It's also not too big, so you don't have to worry about being close to too many bodies and get a nice personalized experience. Been meaning to write a review for this place for a while! I initially came in her for lower back pain. I didn't just want to get a massage and my doctor really did not help at all so I figured why not give these guys a try. I came in here about half a dozen times where we went through a regimen for me to help stretch my back and a routine to do at home. I know every time even feel my back starting to hurt - I just practice the exercises this team taught me and I am all good. Really learned that stretching is just as important as working out! The location is also super clean and the staff is super nice. Everything really modern and if I ever have any physical therapy needs in the future - I'll be coming here for sure! Also make sure you get a referral from your doctor and then they just take care of everything else. Most plans cover this and you end up having to pay roughly 20 dollars. Not a bad deal! read more

I started seeing Erin S. this past fall with shoulder issues and couldn't have had a better experience. The entire staff is so sweet and knowledgeable and I was honestly sad to "graduate" a few weeks ago. During the spring of 2019, I took it upon myself to take care of a nagging shoulder injury and I am so glad I found West Town PT. Rachel and the other therapists really take it upon themselves to create a recovery program that is tailored just for you, with great tools you can use at home as well. It has been a blessing to be able to go back to doing the things I love and not constantly think about whether I would dislocate my shoulder. Let me take you back in time. The month was May 2018. I had been neglecting my body for months as pain creeped down from my lower back all the way down into my ankle. I know what you are thinking...your ankle isn't attached to your back! That's what I thought too but that's when I was 33 and I didn't have the knowledge I have now at 34. It's all connected. I had gotten to a point where a combination of chiropractic adjustments and massage was the only thing keeping me from screaming out loud constantly. After giving them a sizable portion of my monthly earnings they deemed me beyond repair. I asked, "Well what are my options then?" They told me that I'd either have to go under the knife or one other last non-surgical option called "Physical Therapy." I've been deathly afraid of knives since an incident with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in elementary school but that's a different story so I gravitated towards PT. Anyway, I asked for a recommendation and they had only one. It was West Town Physical Therapy. They said, "If anyone can straighten you out, Erin Conroy can." I laughed then because I literally did need someone to straighten me out and also because it was better than crying. After reaching out I was able to get an initial appointment within just a couple days. I was still a bit skeptical as I walked but she quickly put me at ease. She told me I'd be able to get back to helping Dr. Frankenstein in just a few weeks. I assumed this was because I was hunched over like Igor. It was a good joke but my back was no laughing matter! I let is slide because she seemed very confident in her ability to fix me up. They say confidence is key and I'm inclined to agree. She was quickly able to diagnose the issue and was hands on in teaching me the exercises I would need to overcome the pain. Since I wasn't in the best shape due to my temporary deformity, I was getting thirsty quick. The cucumber and lemon water prepared by Shelby was also imperative to my success. Hydration is very important I learned from them both. This wasn't related to my back but is key advice. While it didn't happen overnight, the pain began to recede and we were able to continually adjust the exercises to make even more progress. Fast forward a few weeks...I was dancing in a wedding where I received many compliments. I knew we were on the right track. Fast forward a few months..I haven't had pain for quite some time and am happy to report that I am considering taking my dream of learning Jazz tap to reality. None of this would be possible without the West Town Physical Therapy team! Thank you again! I recently finished four months of PT with Sarah after a bike accident required a shoulder surgery and the experience was fantastic. I was told by my surgeon that I wouldn't be riding my bike or skiing by the end of the year and after Sarah's work, I was able to get start riding again much sooner. She's professional, incredibly knowledgable and makes you feel a combination of pride for the work you're doing while being pushed to do more. She gives you a good deal of personal attention and you really feel like she's helping you work through your recovery, and not just another client in her book. I worked with Rachel for ~6 months regularly for 1-2x / week for shoulder and neck pain that I was experiencing. From start to finish, it was an incredible experience. I've gone to a few different physical therapists throughout the years, and this was by far the best experience I've ever had. Do not go here. Went here for physical therapy for my ankle and it was a terrible experience. They constantly switched me between two therapist who would completely different things. My ankle actually ended up getting worse and worse and treatment went on. I would go in with of physical therapist, then come back in the next week with someone else and they would tell completely contradicting advice. I told my orthopedic some of the stuff they were having me do and she could t believe what they were having me do with a grade 4 sprain and a fractured ankle/leg. I would cancel appointments and then would mark me as a no show and still try and charge me. read more

They do a great job of listening to feedback, pushing my limits on strengthening, and giving directions for exercises between sessions. The online appointment reminders are great as well. I've been working with them for over a month now, and the amount of personal attention, encouragement and 1-on-1 interactions is incredible compared to other/larger PT offices I've heard of. West Town PT was great in getting me back to playing basketball confidently. The first couple visits consisted of evaluation, establishing baselines, stretching, and setting goals/expectations. Stephanie was a great communicator and with her routine, I was feeling much better within the first couple weeks. She provided me a list of home exercises which I was committed to. They were able to tell me why my knee issue happened in the first place, and set a very detailed plan of how to get back on my bike.
