    Welcome!

Super clean inside and out, that's primarily what I'm looking for in a rest stop: a little bit of an information desk and some first class facilities... and if it's way late maybe some room in a less brightly lit patch to rest the rest of me. Pretty sure there's a reason for keeping cars and trucks in separate areas, same goes for people and pets.

Wild and wonderful just like your mother last night

The WV Welcome Center is better than the VW Welcome Center, because who wants a world where everyone drives Volkswagons. Being welcomed to West Virginia was nice and the old guy here was very gracious and welcoming. Also, it was clean and well-kept. But there is nothing to eat and it's really just a tourist information center with a bathroom, and what's more, getting in here is ridiculous. It's not even close to being right off the highway. It's like going through a maze or some kind of jungle to try and get the hell out of here so... we'll stick with 3.

Ive been on a tour of the various State Welcome Centers in the past 18 months. West Virginias are not the best of the bunch. For starters, the day I passed through they were not plowed, and it was dangerous, for drivers, people walking into the center and pretty much anyone else too. Smaller Welcome Center, but fine on that front. If you want to stop to stretch your legs, its fine, but I would not stop here if they have had snow anytime in the past 48 hours.

Clean, sleek, inviting welcome center with good bathrooms with lots of stalls and vending machines on site in a separate area.

This is one of the nicest rest stop that I've ever visited. Ohio has perfected rest stops. The stop…read moreis upscale and modern complete with a porch and rocking chairs. The center is very welcoming. Inside, the walls are filled with local sites to visit. Works by a local artisan are on display. Seating areas are available to browse through pamphlets featuring local attractions. I picked up a couple free pamphlets. The restrooms were immaculate during my visit with sheik new amenities. Outside, are walkways with plaques describing local vegetation. I saw plenty of new benches and places to sit and paths to walk your dog. The landscaping is lovely. On the west end of the rest stop, is a memorial dedicated to highway workers. A Storybook Trail is available to walk the kids through. An information sign describing the National Road, which run parallel to the interstate, stands near the memorial. There's a lot going on here. The stop is an easy on and off I-70. Parking is available for cars and trucks.

If you need to stretch your legs before you hit the road again, there's a Storybook Trail you can walk. You can get some fresh air and relax in the rocking chairs outside while listening to music by artists from Ohio. The Pretenders were playing while I was there (Chrissie Hynde is from Akron). Also check out all the landscaping-it's all plants that are native to Ohio.
