West10West landed on my radar a few months ago when I was looking for a place for my brother and I go for dinner. We ultimately ended up going somewhere else, but I kept this place in my bookmarks as the vibes caught my eye. Flash forward to last week when one of my friends and I were looking to grab dinner and catch up. I suggested here, so I booked it and off we went. Located in the West Village, West10West primarily serves New American dishes, all meant to be shared. The restaurant is small - like really small. I would say there were maybe 4 or 5 tables, and stool seating at the bar. The low lighting and simple decor gave it a modern, yet intimate feel. The menu isn't too large; as the dishes are meant to be shared, it was suggested we order 2 to 3 per person. But first, wine - they have a decent selection and I was able to choose one that went with most of our dishes. We ultimately decided on 6 mains: Iberico ham, asparagus, sea bass ceviche, the beans, spaghetti, and bread service. All of the dishes were good; the biggest standouts for me, though, were the ceviche, spaghetti, and asparagus. The ceviche was super fresh, and came with crushed peanuts on the side that added an extra layer of texture. The spaghetti could have been overly rich it could have been rich with the white sauce and egg that came with it but is was surprisingly light. The asparagus were mini, slightly crunchy, and again came with a flavorful sauce. They offer two desserts and we got both - the affogato and the chocolate ganache tart. Both were delicious - the tart was rich and chocolately, and the affogato was cool and flavorful. Service was great - everyone was warm and friendly, and food came out at a good pace. Overall, I really enjoyed West10West - the approachable yet upscale food combined with the warm atmosphere made for a great experience. read more

My husband and I had a lovely date night here a couple weeks ago. We were sat at the bar, which was a bit snug, but there was a hook for my purse! This whole place is a bit snug, but it feels really intimate as well because of it. The bartender was also our server and he was very helpful in suggesting yummy dishes we should try. We ordered some drinks, mine was super tasty! A lychee cocktail made with shochu. My favorite dish we ordered was the tartare on nori. It was seasoned SO well!! * I would like to make a suggestion to the restaurant. The sliced ham was amazing and I've always loved this kind of ham any way you slice it! (lol) But it's always just a bit better when you put it on something and I think a really high quality potato chip can elevate the ham to magic. Really solid spot in the west village that gives off those west village vibes. The staff was so kind and had really lovely conversations with us, the seating intimate and adorable, and the wines and cocktails quite good. I liked how inventive and unique each dish was, and would go back just to see how that changes over time as you don't get that every day. Not any one dish completely blew me away which is why i'm keeping this to 4 stars, but it's a close call. Bread and butter very solid, expensive, but whatever, better than bad bread and butter. The scallop ceviche was truly excellent and served in a scallop which I loved, but was shown up by the hamachi crudo which just had so much flavor and drove a unique taste that you don't typically see in a crudo. We also did the wagyu tartare which had a wasabi hint and was realy good, but not quite as good as the hamachi crudo in my book. The delicata squash was a beautiful dish, if not maybe the most interesting in taste, but the labne accompanying it was definitely great. The graffiti eggplant however had the most interesting taste profile, a very spicy thai pepper, and was the closest dish to blowing me away with taste and flavor. The raddichio salad good and fresh, and the beet gnocchi also unique with dill on top. The Octopus with romesco also good, but again not blowing me away. Affogato was good, chocolate olive oil cake was not something i would order again, and the manager had a great conversation with us about restaurants, gave us a round of free cocktails, so very easy to like this place! I booked the counter at West10West on a whim for a weekday dinner with a friend, and we were blown away, to put it mildly, by how much we enjoyed our experience. To start, we had a couple of dietary restrictions that the restaurant was more than understanding about, and they gave us good guidance on what to order, considering. We got five dishes for the two of us - the bread, the octopus, delicata squash, fennel salad, and the beet gnocchi. We got some of their low ABV cocktails to accompany, which was perfect for a weeknight. Everyone told us to order the squash and they were RIGHT! The labneh was incredible - we scooped up every bit with the bread - and would have been happy getting five plates of just that! The gnocchi was unexpected and delicious, the salad fresh and crunchy. I didn't try the octopus but my friend liked it a lot. The place is small but also has a really nice intimate vibe, and the friendly bartender made sure we were happy with everything and she and the chef made the experience really special. A friend and I had dinner here at 715p on a Wednesday night. The restaurant is super tiny, yet adorable. The decor is very warm and inviting, and there is a tiny bar that seats perhaps 5 or so people. As for inside seating, I'd say the place appears to accommodate a total of 12-15 people, max. There was also outdoor patio seating, out in front of the restaurant, that might have accommodated a total of 10 or so? My friend and I each got a cocktail, and we both agreed they were terrific, and the glasses, beautiful. For dishes, we got the hamachi crudo, black sea bass ceviche, a cauliflower dish, and beet gnocchi. Everything was delicious, and full of interesting flavors. That said, it was a bit pricey, all things being said, for the amount of food we got. As mentioned, while the overall decor and ambiance were super cute, what ruined it for me was the feeling of being crammed into the space (their 'booths' for two are like the tiniest 'booths' I've ever seen, and mind you, I'm a slim, petite person. Anyone a bit taller/heavier would not have liked sitting there!).... as well as the horrible noise level, which is likely exacerbated by the fact that, not only is the space very tiny (some people's walk-in closets are probably larger than this restaurant...), but the fact that everyone is more or less on top of each other. It was so bad that eventually my mood soured, and I didn't bother trying to continue to converse all that much with my friend (which I explained to her...) because, well, why bother trying to converse when it was so bloody loud in there? As soon as we finished our food, I said to my friend 'let's get the check and get out of here'. It's a pity, because otherwise it's a really great place. If I knew it were only going to be, say half-full, while I was dining there, I might go there again. But not if it's going to be the same cramped, noisy experience... It's a tiny restaurant and uncomfortable seating. The menu is very limited and all plates are very small. You would need to spend a good amount of money to make yourself feel you had a meal. I had a chance to try the menu at West10West, in the West Village - that I just found out is owned by Ryan Reynolds. Everything was delicious, with highlights being the seared octopus, beet gnocchi and king trumpet mushrooms. The umami flavors are built up so well, with the elements of each dish complimenting each other nicely, which is intentionally done to develop your palate. The colors were beautiful too. My only note is that there are not many proteins on the menu making this a great place to take a vegetarian or vegan friend. I needed a burger a couple hours after. But this quaint little wine bar is a great place for intimate convo, and vibes. read more

Had a wonderful rainy dinner here with friends. The seating is very intimate, highly recommend having a reservation in advance. I'm allergic to gluten, dairy, and eggs and I was able to eat most of the items off of their rotating menu. The wine selection was also great! My favorite dishes were the trumpet mushrooms with shiso leaf, hamachi crudo in coconut milk and octopus and romesco. This is one of the best restaurants in NYC. The dishes are small and meant for sharing, which makes it easy to taste a wide range of flavors. The experience almost feels like a tasting menu, with dishes served in a thoughtful progression, starting with raw preparations and ending with richer, heavier plates. I have celiac disease, so I didn't try the bread or the spaghetti dish, which looked like the most luscious carbonara, but my friends were raving about both. Besides those, we ordered the hamachi crudo, fennel salad, gigante beans, asparagus, and jamón ibérico. The hamachi was surprising and absolutely delicious, with bright citrus and sesame oil as the dominant flavors with the fish. The fennel salad was creamy and perfectly marinated, bringing out the anise flavor beautifully. The gigante beans were served over a lemony labneh, making for a hearty, rich vegetarian dish. We ordered the asparagus and jamón together, and they paired perfectly. The asparagus was served over a goat-cheese-like spread and showcased an intense, sweet baby asparagus flavor, while the jamón ibérico was silky, savory, and perfectly balanced. Really enjoyed my time here at this charming wine bar in November. They were open late on a Sunday, which was quite amazing, since we were having a great night with friends, and wanted to keep on going! We got a perfect corner table in the back - perfect for our 4 adults, and they even let us bring in our 6 month old baby!! Wines were great here - I believe I had a glass of the Chenin Blanc, and then Sauv blanc. Service was great, they were very hospitable. The vibe in here was very cute too, very intimate setting, but also enough people inside where it didn't feel like we were the only ones inside. Bathroom was very cute too. My partner and I were so excited to try this place! We passed it once late at night while we were strolling and it was closed. It was still lit and we peeked through the window - it was so beautifully decorated and was giving *chic* and *romantic* vibes. Unfortunately it felt a lot less chic and romantic when it was filled with people. It's too tiny for anyone to dine comfortably or even hear each other speak. The restaurant is so small that when you're seated at the low tables and people are sitting at the bar your face is directly in line with bar-goers butts. I smelled a fart while dining. If you're above 5'8 you shouldn't step foot in here. You'll feel cramped and unhappy and the rest of us who are under 5'8 will feel attacked by your unhappy energy. Nothing on the menu was really jumping out at us so we went for a couple of appetizers/sides. They charged $9 for the bread appetizer - it was two slices of (grocery store?) bread with a pretentiously-plated butter. I'm serious - picture attached. The "Serrano ham" dish was just a plate of pretty regular prosciutto with the tiniest spoonful of fig jam in the middle for $13. I don't know why I foolishly thought it would at least be served with bread? I felt like a moron eating these appetizers: like the meme where the guy is progressively putting more and more clown makeup on. The espresso martini seemed to be a popular order, but before we entered the restaurant we watched two people dining outside sip it and make a yucky face, so we opted for other drinks. Mine was really good - it was some kind of ginger cocktail that was really excellently balanced - just enough spicy and sweet. My partner's Prosecco-based cocktail was served in a really big wine glass with a glass straw which was very fun conceptually but the experience of drinking it was noisy and cartoonish. All in all I think this place is SO quaint and sweet and the vibes are *immaculate* but they shouldn't offer bar seating when the bar is 1 foot away from the tables, and I think the menu could use a bit of a revamp. The prices are a little absurd for what you're getting, but that kind of seems to be standard now for the West Village since all the finance people have moved in and pushed out all the queer artists. Our waitress took the time to walk us through the menu and took good care of everyone. Special shoutout to the fantastic bartender who whipped up an incredible mocktail for me that wasn't on the menu based on my tastes. Nicest guy! Despite the five stars, however, I will say that portion sizes were quite small for the prices. We didn't mind having a fancy meal out, but I can't imagine being back except for very special occasions with the current food-price value ratio, no matter how delicious. I appreciate how fresh and thoughtfully sourced the ingredients are, but would appreciate either a bit more food or a few dollars off per plate. What a precious little jewel! It is easy to walk right by because of the diminutive size. But you feel a welcoming ambience once you open the door. All aspects of this wine bar are carefully thought out. From the superlative Riedel long-stemmed wine glasses ( they are so brave) to the charming retro champagne glasses( reinvented in the 21st century). . All of the offerings are unique... flavorful cocktails, natural wines, creative culinary creations. The ceviche is delicious, as were all the other dishes we sampled. Their bread is rich in texture and flavor. But it is the staff/team that makes you feel like long lost friends. They are gracious and interested, interesting and attentive. This was my favorite dining experience in a long, long time. Staff, especially waiter, were extremely kind and helpful throughout the entire time, being very personable and chatting throughout the night which made the entire atmosphere feel so comfortable. We came in hungry - and ended up ordering way more than what we thought we could finish, but finished everything down to the bottom of the plate plus got dessert, which was incredible. We ordered the bread, which was so fresh, the broccolini (amazing), the mushroom, the cheese plate (amazingggg), and for mains- rigatoni and ceviche. Each of the dishes were tastefully made with bursts of flavor in every bite that we didn't think was possible for the items we ordered. For example, I'm not crazy about mushroom in general, but that was probably the most delicious thing I've had in a long time. I will think about this ceviche for the next coming days nonstop. The bartender was kind enough to ask us in depth about our typical drink orders and ended up making me a custom drink, which was to die for. I'm so happy I stumbled upon this small, intimate spot, it really made my month. I can't wait to bring more friends here. read more
