Food used to be tastier, the Kimchi jjigae was filling but was missing the tang that usually comes with this soup, something felt was missing, they now give 4 opening sides when they used to give you 7. Our favorite Korean restaurant in the area closed in the past year, so we decided to give this restaurant a try despite the dilapidated exterior. This appears to be an authentic Korean spot, run by a hard working family, and the type of local business I love to support. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First impressions were not great. It appeared their beer refrigerator malfunctioned, so beer bottles were out on dining tables near entrance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Water was served in plastic cups, and while the water tasted fine, the cups smelled strongly of dish detergent, which was off putting. We were also not offered refills of our water as our server was doing double duty filling and sealing dumplings while we dined. The banchan, including kimchi, a soy/sesame cabbage, a mayonnaise slaw, and vinegary smashed cucumber were okay, but nothing that I felt compelled to request more of. The Spicy Pork Belly was a generous stir fry portion, with most of the spice coming from jalapeño (or another green chili pepper variety) in a nondescript brown sauce. Certain pork pieces could have been thinner, or rendered longer, as they were chewy, but others were thin and tender and quite good. There was a nice mix of veggies as well, including peppers, onion, carrot, celery and broccoli. Perhaps I'll get a craving for kimchi jigae as the weather cools and give them another try, but this first experience didn't leave me eager to return. read more

Came here with my Mom. Everything was simply delicious. The banchan is beyond generous in terms of variety and everything we had was great.

Came here because they're open late on our way to Maine and needed to have dinner. It's an unassuming place, small, family owned, 2 Korean ladies working. Nothing fancy about the interior. Service was friendly to our group. Food was good, I've had better Korean somewhere else but this place hit the spot. The ojingu bokkeum, "stir fry squid" was hot and spicy, my personal favorite, not enough squid tho. Gobdol was good, japchae was delicious, galbi was overly sweet and the galbitang was plain. Banchans were okay, I've had better, kimchi wasn't spicy. Price were cheap. I'll definitely try something else again. Definitely not the best Korean compared to other places. read more

Honestly, if I were in NJ or NYC, this place would probably be 3 stars. However, I'm in the vast wasteland of the suburbs of MA, where usually there are no Korean restaurants to even be seen, so I have to be fair. We came here for lunch on a Thursday. The restaurant was empty and service was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered jajangmyun, galbitang, and tangsuyuk because my Korean boyfriend was so excited to have Korean food for the first time since moving to MA. The side dishes were okay, nothing to write home about. The galbitang was honestly pretty good, though not the best I've had. The jajangmyun was on the sweeter side and my boyfriend did not think it was very authentic, but I thought it was okay. When we saw/tasted the sauce for the tangsuyuk even I knew something was off, and my boyfriend was disappointed. The sauce was much redder than it is supposed to be, and had a very tangy sweetness and flavor to it kind of reminiscent of the orange sauce you get sometimes at Chinese takeout places. I asked my boyfriend if he thought that maybe the food here is different because of regional differences in Korea, but it seemed unlikely. I have to emphasize that nothing here tasted bad, but we would have had a better time if we had never had Korean food before. read more

Amazing dinner at Westborough Korean! Started off with the spicy rice cakes which were covered in a sweet and spicy sauce and served alongside vegetables. Appreciated the complimentary Banchan. Mains were Korean stew one with spicy miso broth that had the umami flavor I was craving but was light on fillings. Other was a noodle and seafood soup which was filled with perfectly cooked noodles, assorted seafood, and vegetables. Service was exceptional, they went above and beyond and created a makeshift birthday cake and candle for one of our guests despite not having desserts available. I've been coming here for over 10 years! Very unassuming- rickety stairs, TVs showing the Korean news or K-dramas, red vinyl banquettes. I've yet to see the host smile. But! Some of the most delicious Korean food I've ever had. You get about 5 side dishes (banchan- my favorite is the braised potatoes, but there's also kimchi that packs a punch, marinated cucumbers that are sour and crunchy, an assortment of pickled veggies), a salad, and miso soup included in your order. I like to come for lunch, and I usually get the chicken bugolgi, which comes in a sweetly spicy sauce and is mixed with onions. Lunch also comes with crispy vegetable pancakes (pajeon), sizable rolls (kimbap), and refreshing cold noodles. All for a reasonable price! read more

We went here on a Saturday night. Although there were limited options around, our family decided to give it a try. The restaurant was run by typical Korean ajumas who were not very friendly, but the service was acceptable. Several things did not go as we had hoped. First, 2 out of 4 of our orders were incorrect. We were served egg drop soup instead of rice cake soup, and a vegetable pancake instead of the seafood pancake. The pork cutlet meat was extremely thin and lacked any real taste or chew. The price was quite high for what we received--$16.95 for a typical entrée dish--but the portion size and taste were both subpar. Honestly, I love supporting mom-and-pop local businesses, but this is very difficult for me to recommend to anyone. read more

1st time in town, decided to try this place based on great food reviews. While outside looks more like a casual diner and the people aren't there for it's atmosphere: the food WAS phenomenal. As typical, they give you a small arrangement of various veggies pickled or marinated/ eggplant/zucchini/ potato/kimchi/'coleslaw' like creamy cabbage. All good. Between 3 people - ordered Jampong Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup, Dolsot Bibimbap, + a Beef/scallion/spicy stew w/rice noodles. Everyone enjoyed their food, would order again. Ordered take out twice in last month. Food overall was good. Taste was on point. Prices are about what you'd expect. Just a few points: 1) Got the scallion pancake and it wasn't as crisp as I would've liked. A little on the oily side for me but the flavor profile was good. 2) Kim bap tasted great. First time, there was too much rice vs veggies and beef. This time, it was the right amounts of each. So not consistent it again, tasted great. Love that they brush it with sesame oil! 3) Ordered jajang myun and it was both a large serving with a good mix of veggies in the sauce. Wish there was a little more beef but that's a minor detail. Lot of places don't even make it so I'm glad i was able to get it. And it was delicious. 4) Got the seaweed soup and it was a large serving and delicious! Definitely recommend. Overall I would recommend trying it out. Lots of other items I wanted to get and from what I saw others eating, it all looked delicious! read more

I was recommended this place by some of my Korean friends that drove past it while coming back to Boston. I really wanted to like it because it looked like a very mom and pop local Korean restaurant but I thought the food was too mediocre to recommend it fully to others. It could've just been that I ordered the wrong dish but typically Galbi is one of those things I expect any legit Korean restaurant to get right. The prices are quite higher than I expected for a random Korean store out in Massachusetts. The Galbi was very saucy when I got it. It was honestly too saucy which hides the taste of the meat too much. The sauciness would have been fine if the sauce was good but it was not. Too much sour and sweet taste. I expected more meat for the price I paid. The meat itself was tough and not tender like Galbi should be. The banchan was not that good. Nothing stood out to me and it was very small quantity for 4 people even if they do refill it. We got a kimchi pancake to share and it was alright. Not as crispy as I like it but serviceable. Not too many people were eating here but service was quite slow. Felt like everything was taking longer than it should have with so few people. I wanted to like this place but it disappointed me. I am Korean and I refuse to go to this restaurant. And I do want to support Korean American and local business but I went there once and that's it. First off, they need to deep clean their kitchen, and the serving hall. I bet the owners have earned enough money to update the decor/wall papers and the seatings. I bet the last time they cleaned was like 15 years ago. I think it's pure laziness to cross off their menus on the wall by hands. Why wouldn't they do that? The food is delicious and i was surprised with all the side dishes! You get to try out authentic Korean food, so it is definitely a great cultural experience. Very authentic family owned Korean restaurant, I highly recommend going if you have a craving. Food: Their black bean noodles were decent, I wish there was more meat in it to be honest. If I was to go back I would get the bento box because it's a really good deal. On our way back from the cape, we found this Korean restaurant. Old school for sure with couple of ajamas serving us the typical Korean fair. No trend or fusion here. We went with the jjajangmyeon which was nice, but the sauce was not as thick and rich like the way I prefer. The sautéed octopus and vegetables had good flavor, but lack that smoky taste. It was still tasty with a lot of kick. The kimchi pancake was crispy and soft on the inside, that was the best part. This seems to be hot spot for locals. No frills or anything fancy. It's definitely not perfect, especially since it's short on wait staff and the food is not up to par with some really good Korean places around the area, but it gets the job done. - Food (4/5): The banchan was very good, and I ordered a kimchi pancake and Buda jjigae, which altogether was around 30 to 40$. It was enough food where I had left over pancake for the next day, which was very good and full of kimchi flavor. The Buda jjigae was alright, but the meat pieces were a little small and it took on an acidic aftertaste after it started to cool down. - Service (3/5): There was only one server when I went there on a Sunday evening in July, and thus my orders took a little bit to come out, and I had to wait a decent amount for my check until I went up to the front. - Ambiance (4/5): It has that classic Korean restaurant feel, albeit a little small.
