If you're looking for a reliable Korean food with minimal human interaction that's not in the hustle and bustle of Allston-Brighton, I would recommend checking out Sharon, sometimes I prefer it when I've had a busy day. I do wish that they didn't use mostly onions for their japchae noodle dish. I ordered their steamed meat dumplings and the meat filling was not fully cooked so I did end up with stomach issues when I got home so I wouldn't order them again. This place is fantastic! It's a small restaurant on a Main Street and counter service. However, the restaurant itself was accommodating and felt very clean and inviting. The menu was large and had some great dishes. I ended up ordering the mango milk tea and the spicy pork bibimbap. My food take a little longer than my partner's to come out which always leads to that awkward "should I start or not?" question. Thankfully it didn't take too much longer for my food to come out. The milk tea tasted great! Very refreshing and not overly sweet. I wish there a little bit more mango flavor but it was by no means bad. The real star of the show was the bibimbap. The portions were large and all of the food tasted fresh, very flavorful, and came out hot. Although the restaurant seemed unassuming this was probably one of my favorite bibimbaps I've ever had. The staff were also very nice and apologized for the wait. They come and collect your plates when finished. A hidden gem! We recently made a spontaneous trip to Sharon Korean Kitchen. It's clean and spacious inside. We ordered the spicy beef soup and beef short rib soup, and they both came out quickly. There were many pieces of short ribs in the galbitang and the yukejang was hearty as well. Good portions for reasonable prices. Whereas traditional Korean restaurants serve many different side dishes (banchan), this place has more of a casual, fast-food vibe and serves only kimchi as a side. Regardless, the servers were helpful and friendly. There's plenty of street parking nearby, and we will be back again! read more

On our post golf outing we found this Korean spot. They have a nice dining area, spacious and you can dine there. Order your food via counter or scan the QR code on the tables and they'll bring out your food when it's ready. I opted for the sweet and spicy chicken, reminds me of Chinese general gau but different spice. Good flavor, nice and hot, chicken was cooked perfectly moist. Has a nice crunchy chew. The sauce goes great with some rice, (doesn't come with it as it's technically and app). I have been looking for authentic Korean food since I moved here in 2022, and the few places I tried weren't good enough for me to go back. This spot never popped up when I would search Korean restaurants, but I saw it when I was driving around the neighborhood and once I checked the menu, I knew I had to stop in. The place is amazing! I lived in Korea a few years, and it reminds me of Daegu. I had the pork bulgolgi and chicken japchae. The portion sizes are good and rhetorical food is great. Both dishes had tender meat and lots of veggies. The bulgolgi wasn't too spicy, but it was still flavorful. The service was good and the owner was kind. Sharon is a Korean spot with a confused identity. I can never tell if I'm supposed to be eating in there. Barely anyone seems to work there, I don't see many cues to its Korean-ness besides the items on the menu (which are all rather descriptions of the items themselves instead of the actual name of the food, ex. Tteokbokki is called "spicy rice cakes" (I don't like that, call it by its name!!)). Seats galore but always empty, yet still thriving apparently as doordashers run in and out. The food is actually very good, and it's one of the only Korean spots I trust now. The tteokbokki, chicken dishes, bibimbaps, japchae, dumplings, everything I've had is good and authentic. Food comes out quick and portions are great. Above all, the kimchi is really fantastic so order a side if you're into it. This will be my go-to Korean spot for years to come. The food was amazing - this place is truly authentic Korean food and just what we've been looking for. The service model is unique - you come in, sit down, and scan the QR at the table to order your food. It's great because you get to pay right away and the food comes out quickly, warm, and fresh. This fast-casual service model is great if you're introverted or just looking for a night out to dinner without talking to anyone you didn't come in with. And if you do want to socialize, their staff is super friendly and willing to do so. I recommend the lemonade with boba - it's so good and there are many flavors to choose from. The lemonade is sweet and the bobas explode into your mouth with flavor - my favorite is the mango lemonade with lychee boba. The lighting is very cute, there are warm lights around the kitchen and brighter lights by the seating area. I appreciate that this place has a picture menu by the kitchen (if you don't want to order from the QR code then you can order at the counter / with waiter). They also have pictures of their dishes hung up around the restaurant which shows they are confident in their dishes (and rightfully so). We ordered two items, sweet & spicy chicken & a spicy beef noodle that came with rice. Originally, we thought that they didn't do sit down but actually, they do! The sweet and spicy chicken is tasted very much like a General Gao chicken dish. It was good! The beef noodle soup was okay. Not what I was expecting. It didn't have much for noodle or meat. It did have a lot of green beans, which I didn't really care for to be honest. Love veggies, don't get me wrong, but I would've liked more meat or noodles. It's hard to find good Korean restaurants outside of Allston, so I got VERY excited when I stumbled upon Sharon Korean Kitchen in West Roxbury this past week. It's a fast casual restaurant with very nice modern interior. I went for lunch on a weekday and it wasn't busy so it really felt like a hidden gem! The price point and quality of food was on point. While I typically don't go for Korean cuisine, I was excited to try what Sharon had to offer. Their menu is short and to the point which is nice because it means there's lesser chance of feeling lost or confused. We ended up getting takeout which we ordered online and was ready well within the time window. The food was hot and ready to eat! Kimchi udon and the fried tofu bibimbap were the two dishes we ordered. My favorite was the kimchi udon because the noodles were chewy DMD cooked well and every bite had the tangy flavor of the kimchi. I love when they don't skip on the sauce! As you can see, the bibimbap was loaded with the fried tofu (yay) and they were airy and light. Below it, were finely shredded veggies including carrots, radishes, bean sprouts along with rice. We went on a Sunday afternoon and were the only ones in the dining area. The place is very clean with nice modern decor. It was very comfortable and easy to place our order and enjoy our meal on premise. The lady at the front was friendly, and the menu was easy to comprehend and figure out quickly what we wanted. Still, it tasted great and was one of the better dishes we got. The spicy rice cakes were pretty good and worthy of a call out. it has more of a tomato base for flavoring and is different from other places I've tried, in that regard. However, it is very heavy on onions...could use more rice cakes or other toppings. The chicken katsu wasn't anything special. Udon was decent. Overall, we'd say the food is 4/5. The chef was overheard coughing outside the restaurant...but later he came inside and continued to cough. During these covid times, its a risk to dine out already and hearing that didn't put us at ease. We could also smell his cigarette as the back door is opened throughout. Minus 1 star for the coughing and cigarette smell that made its way into the dining area. When I'm in the area again, I'd consider this restaurant again. Korean American here to report on the authenticity and character of the Korean food at Sharon. The ambiance was so so, but the service was attentive and kind. I make these dishes at home for my family myself so Im always curious re the different ways others make it. My husband got the YukgaeJang. The broth(most important part of this dish in my opinion) is what I tasted. It was flavorful, rich, yet not overly salty. Theres an art to nurturing your broth. They get an 8.5 out of 10 for me in this category for this dish. The Chicken Katsu was a bit chewy(meat portion, which means it was not tenderized) but the outer crisp was crunch and light. Katsu is Japanese but im glad they have alternative options for picky eaters like my 8 yr old since spicy anything is as scary to him as broccoli at this point. The Soondubu Jjigae was also quite dense (broth), spicy enough for me (server increased spiciness for me), there was enough meat vs tofu (got the pork), though I wished they gave me the egg to crack in myself (though being in this area of Boston, that might not fly w most customers). Its simple. Almost like a sit down restaurant but also kinda like a food court walk up. I did wish they gave out even a little bit of BanChan (side dish) or even some Kimchee, but if going for a half food court, half served restaurant concept, you can fudge that line a bit, I guess. Prices are not food court-like, nor should they be. (The quality of the food is closer to a sit down restaurant) Though if this is your first Korean food experience, make a mental note that BanChan(s) can be the highlight of most Korean meals. Overall Authenticity Grade: (From the dishes I tried, I assessed based on broth quality, acid/base balance, quality and quantity of its contents, presentation, and evidence of ingredient prep(eg did they just MSG the hell out of the broth or did they broil veggies, bones, meats for hours and hours? usually most will do something in between) B+ (but lets be fair. by offering a sliding scale considering its location and area demographic): A- Random side note: "Sharon" is not the name of the owner. It represents the Rose of Sharon, South Korea's national flower (yes. North Korea has a different national flower). This symbolic flower/hibiscus to some, mugunghwa to Koreans) is the "eternal blossom that never fades" It is the symbol of the Korean people and its culture. I would definitely come back. Its not similar to any LA or NYC Korean scene, but Im reviewing mostly the food in this case and will be lenient on the ambiance (and lack of Banchan). Did someone say Boba? Yes, indeed. Its not a huge selection, but enough to quiet down the multitude of flavors still bursting on your tongue from your meal. They also had mango milk for my son who hates the boba pearls/black tapioca balls) Im pleasantly surprised by Sharon. I love coming over here. First leave the food is really good affordable Korean takeout food. My favorites the spicy rice cakes and the bulgogi and the Jap Che. They have very good bone broth soups if you're into that. I'm very thankful this restaurant came to the West Roxbury neighborhood because we are regulars and they also offer takeout. They also have bubble tea another drinks too. They also have inside seating very clean and comfortable. They do an excellent job and friendly service. I happened to be in the area and chose this place based on the yelp reviews. Such a good choice, just what I needed, total score. There is a counter yo order your food and a self-seat dining area. They asked if I wanted food to go or to eat here. I opted to eat in. The dining area was very clean and comfortable. Relaxing piano music plays overhead. As I waited for my food, I watched a steady stream of pick up orders. This was at 6:30 on a weekday. They brought out a tray with a cup of water, a fork, and chopsticks. I had the Bulgogi Steak Rice plate. It was fantastic! The meat was thin sliced and tender in a delicious teriyaki-like sauce. The rice was sticky and a perfect complement. We (a family of four) came here for lunch on a rainy Saturday based on reviews we've read on Yelp. Immediately after we stepped in, we were excited! We love the ambiance. It is not stuck-up like a formal restaurant setting. But it was clean, bright and airy. Perfect for lunch. And the menu, while small, has a good coverage of the "stables" for Korean food. Service was great and exceeded our expectations. Because the place looks more like a simple food court setting, we thought we had to self-serve (scanned the QR code to order) but were pleasantly surprised that once we submitted the order, a courteous guy brought out water, utensils for us and food came promptly. He even refilled our water. I thought the service was on par with what you would expect in a normal sit-down restaurant. However, the taste wasn't quite authentic. We ordered four items: 1) Bulgugi steak 2) Veggie bimbim bap 3) Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) 4) Tofu stew with pork Bulgugi was clearly good quality beef but the sauce was way too sweet. Tteokbokki had way too much watery sauce and too much of a pepper taste. Tofu stew had silky soft tofu but the soup base did not have the normal rich flavor you would expect, and it was overly peppery. The only thing that was more authentic was the bim bim bap (but the rice to ingredients ratio was off... too much rice, and the sauce was a bit on the sweet side). We are Asian Americans and lived many years in Asia and California so we have come to expect a taste that is more authentic. The ingredients used were great but it seems that someone intentionally "Americanized" the menu. The dishes looked great but they didn't taste the way they were supposed to. read more
