This has been my Doctor's Office for many years, as I've had my annual physicals completed for work for over 24 years. In the 1990's, this practice was actually located in Westchester, north about 3 miles from its current location. The staff are young and nice to be around, as a get an understanding of the business and enjoy the small talk in between. I think I've had all the doctors during my physicals, and each has their own bedside manners. As I understand, sports medicine is also a specialty of the practice, so a treadmill for stress tests and firefighter and police physicals are conducted routinely. I would recommend this group for your physicals, as their evaluations are complete and well documented. read more

Went back in to see Dr. Pachtman this time. Between waiting room and second waiting room: 50 min wait. Sadly, this is acceptable in the modern world of doctor's visits, so I can't complain there. Pachtman seemed to be in a rush, and then proceeded to chide me like a middle school principal in the post consult for the things I was doing wrong in my life. It satisfied the need for a check-up, though his is not a bedside manner that'll keep me coming back for more. The girls behind the counter were nice and charming though. Holy crap - I randomly picked Dr. Pachtman off of google searching for a doctor close to my old office (should have used yelp) Anyways I hadn't been to the doctor in a while and went for a physical (ladies everything is a plus :) So I choose this "doctor" strictly for location to save time and be in and out, scheduling weeks in advance. While it sounded good in theory the reality was a not full waiting room and an over hour long wait. Reasons to accept an over hour long wait for a doctor: 1. no appointment or last minute appointment 2. you are seeing a super specialist 3. you using an hmo 4. you are at a free clinic So after waiting over an hour with like 3 people ahead of me - I finally get to Dr. Pachtman - if it were back to the future and 1982 he might have been ok but he honestly seemed a little out of it and is definitely extremely close to retirement. Well lesson learned no more random doctor picking! read more

This hospital is atrocious. About the only thing that is nice is the lobby area because they want to fool you into thinking it's a world class medical institution but in really it's a third world shithole run by a bunch of nepotistic assholes akin to the greedy, illiterate warlords running amok in a war torn African country or Burma or some other such place. The minute you leave the lobby you will step into an episode of M.A.S.H. We were stuck in the emergency room for over 24 consecutive hours waiting for a bed to be made available for admitting. I called and asked and complained and they either promised me it would be another couple of hours or told me that wasn't their dept. And I called the admitting department. Finally when we were being transported we found out that the floor is hardly at capacity and beds were sitting available all along. This was just the beginning of the fun to ensue. For the 4+ days we were in the isolation ward, the equipment to monitor the drips failed every 10-15 min, failing, calling the nurses got us nasty attitudes at best and the head nurse yelled and screamed at us. This when the patient was screaming in pain for help. Are we in a war zone or the financial capital of the world? I can't tell inside this hospital. Then the attending on staff refused to take accountability for his patients because supposedly he's just filling in. He's not in charge of medical care. So who is? The janitor? And one night either out of sheer incompetence or malice he decided to delete all prescriptions one of the nights. The other doctors in training essentially kids out of college tried to cover it up and claimed they knew nothing about it. But we surreptitiously found out from lower level staff. We're not talking Tylenol or mylanta. Antibiotics, pain medications, etc. If you ever wondered what a third world medical experience would be like in a war zone you needn't go any further than Westchester Medical center. read more

So considering this is the 1st injury I've ever had and me trying to set up a visit for the 1st ever at this place. I would say call the beach cities medical group. I must say I'm shocked by the negative reviews on Dr. Pachtman. I have been a patient of his for at least a year. Because I like him so much my fiance is also a patient of Dr. Pachtman. I first went to see him for a typical physical. He was very prompt on meeting with me. He listened to me very carefully as I spoke to him. After the appointment, we chatted for a bit in his office so that he could get to know me more. Once my test results came back he actually called me on the phone to let me know that all my labs were great. A few months later I was having terrible issues with anxiety because of work. Anyways, I went to his office in tears. It was embarrassing. He talked to me in the exam room for awhile. Then after I left his office he called me at home again 2 days later to check on me. He has the best bedside manner. Recently I was having an irregular heartbeat and he got me right in for a stress test. Everything was fine, but then Dr. Pachtman sat and chatted with me about my upcoming wedding. He is such a great doctor. The only reason I could see anyone making any negative reviews is because he is so direct and to the point. I love that about him. I don't want my time wasted with sugar coating. read more

Dr. Reiss is a great physician. He is knowledgeable, caring, and he listens to his patients. I see Dr. Reiss for my FAA Medical and I liked him so much I started seeing him as my primary care doc. The staff is very courteous as well. read more

I have been seeing Dr David Weiss for years and think he is very sincere and knows his job well. It's rare to have a Dr that will listen in detail and give sound advise. He is a great communicator as well. He does spend a good deal of time with each patient and this is probably what people complain about, the wait. I think it is worth the wait to see a great Doctor as they are becoming more rare these days. read more

My new employer sent me here for a pre employment physical. The wait was very long, when finally called in the guy in gym pants wasn't very personable, told him I needed glasses to read, when I got a circle wrong he told me to try again, wtf dude of course I'm wrong I can't see it!!! Oh and that was just the gym pant nurse, the Dr no bedside manner at all!!! Dr pachman did not introduce himself, wasn't even trying to listen to me, I'd start with an answer and he'd tell me to answer his question, I get it you're in a hurry, but I waited almost half an hour for him to be rude to me dammit! Went for the required LASD medical exam. The itinerary is as follows. 1. Lung Capacity test: you blow through a machine. 2. sit and look through a machine as it tests near nearsightedness and farsightedness. 3. Ishihara color test, they ask you how many figures on the pages and then trace. (no numbers, just squares, triangles, ect). 4. Body fat test if you failed BMI, (I think it is highly skewed against the applicant. Previously I have had two Hydro-static tests, showing 14-15% Here, they said I was 19%. Many applicants fail this part and I am not surprised given my results!) 5. Drug test: Pee in a cup and do not flush the toilet lol. 6. Go to exercise room to test vision again, this time with the classic chart and they test correct/uncorrected. 7. They test color vision again, this time with a computer and pictures. You select the color of the house/car/shirt. I assume this test gives gives you a shot at passing if you fail the Ishihara, which is very nice! LAPD does not do a practical test like this so you definitely have a better shot with LASD. 8. EEG Machine. They hook up a bunch of electrodes. Surprisingly fast. 9. See the doctor, shines light in your eyes, has you duck walk, squat, checks motion of arms, shoulders, lungs, and the famous drop and cough lol. Much nicer facility and staff than LAPD. Better chance at passing for color deficient applicants, but I would say less so for "thicker applicants". LAPD did not do any fat measurements. * Just to give you an idea of the body fat test (they use calipers), I can do 20+ pull ups & 60+ push ups in a row, run the 1.5 miles in under 12 minutes, bench 300lbs + and can see two rows of my abs...that is not 19% body fat people...you better hope you make the BMI cutoff or look like Greg Plitt. read more

I'm shocked by the 2 star review to be honest. A friend had recommended Dr. Weiss to me and so I made an appointment to see him, they had also warned me to bring a book as the wait time can get a bit long but that Dr. Weiss really takes time with his patients so it's worth the wait. So I brought a book and sure enough did have to wait a while. Once I got called back I didn't have to wait that long and sure enough Dr. Weiss was great and he really took his time getting to know me and my health history, I never felt rushed and he was very careful in determining what was going on with me and didn't just throw prescription meds at me in the hopes that that would fix whatever was going on with me. After I left my symptoms got a little worse and I went back a few days later, had to wait a while again but once I got back there Dr. Weiss came in to see me pretty quickly and at this point was able to determine what was going on and could then prescribe me medicine to help me get better...sure enough in a week I was as good as new. I felt like he really cared about my health and well being. The front office staff has been friendly every time I have gone in there and the best part is...they validate parking for up to 8 hours (at least I think it's 8 hours), so for having to wait a while in the waiting area and spending some time with the Doctor I never had to pay a dime for parking and that to me is a HUGE plus. My only complaint is one of their nurses is not as friendly, she's not mean, but she just doesn't seem to care that much about the patients or her job. I was just called in and she was weighing me and taking my temperature when she turned to one of the gals at the front desk and said "5 o'clock can't come soon enough, I can't wait to get out of here." That was, to me, a bit unprofessional. So if you are on a tight schedule and you don't have the time to wait then maybe this place isn't for you but if you're looking for great care, and I really can't speak for the other doctors because I haven't seen them, then I highly recommend Dr. Weiss. And FREE parking! read more

I think Dr. David Weiss is a good doctor, unfortunately his staff does not support him well. I have recently had to fire Dr. Weiss because he is way overbooked to even consider my immediate needs, which currently are of the gastric imbalance kind...very unpleasant. :( So this got me thinking, if bloating and gas pain are too insignificant for Dr. Weiss to handle, what happens if I get the flu? Do i have to wait a month for treatment? NO! Unacceptable! This older lady on his staff..."Rachel or Rachet or something" was completely unmoved by my pain, and further more by the fact I just fired them as my doctor. I guess they have enough patience, I will no longer be one of them. read more

I went there for the LASD pre-employment medical tests. They started on time, I can't remember the name of the nurse(?) who was administering most of the tests & taking me to the different rooms, but she was super nice, explained everything. Phlebotomist lady was professional, even tried to entertain me while I was waiting, offered water. There was a bit of a waiting for the doctor (Dr. Weiss) keep in mind they are busy and not exactly sitting around reading a newspaper. Both the "nurse" and Dr. Weiss apologized personally for the wait (again it wasn't too bad), Dr. was professional, had a sense of humor, and I appreciated the straight talk. I had to go back for the TB skin reading 3 days later, Dr. Weiss took care of that, already gave me a little info about my test results ( that was nice, so at least I did not have to worry about those for another few weeks). I think as long as you understand that they are a busy place,yet they do try to take care of everyone in the shortest time possible (keep in mind they do have "regular patients" with more serious / acute issues than a pre-employment medical check) they do a great job. Yeah some of the furniture might need a little update, but I did not go there for furniture shopping :) Ps: Dr. Weiss - Thank you for being fair, "A" from the same country that you had a waterpolo world champion in your office :) I am IN, hello academy 2019. read more

Dr Pachtman has a dry sense of humor that might not go over well with all patients, but I've gown to like him very much. I also appreciate his no-nonsense attitude, although again I can understand why some people might want a more warm and fuzzy "bedside manner". More than anything, I think he's an amazing doctor. I have asymptomatic osteoporosis (from years of using asthma drugs) which no doctor before Dr Pachtman had ever thought to test me for (I'm only in my 30s). As a result of his intuition, I am being treated for it now and will hopefully not be affected by it in my old age. He also suggested several new courses of treatment which have brought my asthma more under control than at any point in my life. I'd recommend Dr Pachtman to anyone. read more

If you are coming from a communist country and used to waiting in line then this is your place. I made an appointment for a regular checkup with Dr. Pachtman because it was close to my work and would save time... I waited more than an hour to see him! And its not because the place was packed, there were like 3 people total in the waiting room the whole time. Apparently they see a lot of city and county employees so maybe that contributes to a DMV like level of efficiency (but that's actually mean to you DMV - you never made me wait an hour even without an appointment). I have been to free clinics (during more economically challenged times) and never waited so long. I've seen Lakers team doc - Dr. Lombardo - wait time 20 minutes tops. The doctors here are all at or near retirement age and appear to be grinding it out until their portfolios return to pre-recession levels and then its off to their condo in Maui. Like my grandfather said - get an old lawyer and a young doctor (logic is that the law basically doesn't change and an old lawyer knows all the ins and outs - but medicine is constantly moving forward so you get a young doc trained on the latest techniques and medicines). read more

I saw Dr. Reiss today for my FAA Airman Medical exam and left extremely satisfied. Dr. Reiss is a joy and explained the entire process thoroughly. His front staff and nurses were very friendly and made me feel like a valued patient/customer. I'll definitely be going back. read more

As a fellow healthcare provider, this office really pissed me off. The office staff is rude, I was kept waiting over an hour, and was never even seen by a doctor because I had to leave after being kept waiting for so long. Nobody apologized for the inconvenience, and when I said I inquired whether it was common practice here to overbook doctors and keep patients waiting, all 3 women working in the front looked at each other, shrugged, and one said "ummmm welllllllll Dr. Pachtman usually isn't this far behind" I cancelled my own patients and rescheduled my whole day to make it to my appointment and the whole experience was unprofessional and unacceptable. read more

I have seen two seperate doctors at this medical center. Both times I walked out after my appointment extremely unsatisfied. They overbook, so expect long waits for your appointment, and then expect to be rushed out, barely listened to during the appointment, and not taken seriously. I have never felt more belittled regarding my health concerns, and to be treated that way twice, by two doctors of different specialities....It's not worth it, go elsewhere. read more

Very rude and disappointing experience with this office. Sure seems to have gone down hill hard and fast in the last couple years. My wife was treated (incorrectly) for severe pain she was experiencing. Weiss misdiagnosed and just prescribed some pain meds and sent her on her way. He did follow up but suggested if she needed immediate relief to go to ER. Ok, that makes sense. He suggested she not travel the following day for business trip but wouldn't give her a "doctors note". Why? Who knows. He said he would have to see her again for that. No thanks, we will see a neurologist and pass on the two hour wait in the lobby to see him for a note. His staff used to be very good. They'd advise you if he was running late and suggest you wait a bit before coming in for appointment that day if he was behind. Very much appreciated. They don't do that any more and now treat you as cattle. Rebecca, one of his girls, rudely hung up on me when I called and asked to speak with Weiss about the dr note. She wouldn't explain anything to me when I just wanted to know why he needed her to come in for it. I've never seem so little compassion or been treated this way by a doctors office. I guess if you question anything they handle it this way now. I used to recommend this office but will now steer myself and my family and friends clear of this disaster. What a shame. read more

Total rip off. Dr weiss is hungry for money. I told him i was anemic they he ran all these test for what i was already tested for. Then i get a bill. Beyond pissed. He basically did nothing for me. I spent an eternity in his office and i had severe allergies he said take done Claritan and let's run your blood. He missed that i had swolled nasal passages and other issues. I would give him 1 star. find a new profession because you are not doing your job. read more

I chose Dr. Allen H. Pachtman after doing a google search in the area. It seems that you really should not believe any of the medical recommendations that you see on legitimate websites. I have had Doctors that had poor bedside manor, however this guy takes the cake so to speak. He is the mos condescending, egocentric piece of work I have ever seen. During my initial consult he was rude, unwilling to listen to me before forming any logical medical conclusions because he evidently knew everything about my medical history just by looking at me. I have never felt that kind of preducice from any practitioner. Please do not go to this doctor, he is pretty much at the end of his career anyways based on my logical assessment of a person I know nothing about and took at face value because I do not care what he has to say nor care what his past is because of what he looks like, an old washed jerk. read more
