Now as a local permanent resident I found out that it's possible to get a community membership which is about a third of the price of my last gym however, this gym has better hours!!! I really love the basketball courts, as well as the pool and in general all of the natural lighting. It's such a bright and airy and gym... the opposite of depressing. You actually want to be here to work out. Why I'm giving this place five out of five is not just the customer service from the student workers who are super friendly and nice, but I really appreciate all of the adaptive equipment I can use here as a now disabled adult. I only wish I knew I could join sooner !

This gym seems to get crowded in the afternoons, but still, there is still room to obtain a good workout. The machines are actually pretty modern. It is still a rather small gym, but has all the amenities you'll need to achieve your fitness goals. It is still much better than going to a mainstream gym like 24 hr fitness after work because the rec center is exclusive to the LMU community.

My account was suspended because I never set foot in the gym. They were getting money out of me for nothing. The day after I got charged I finally went in for the first time to cancel. The desk rep assured me everything was taken care of. Fast forward to now and they're STILL charging me. They've created these BS blockades to extract not 1 but TWO more months out of me, despite already getting hundreds of dollars out of me for nothing for several months prior. And I told the rep that the first time I went in-person. YMCA is no family or community established it's a for-profit gym business just like all the rest of them, and they will prey on your money with nefarious practices all the same.

Lockers and locker rooms are near disgusting. Amazing how a city that has 1-bedroom apartments that rent for $6,000 can't make a nicer facility.

I am okay with this as long as it doesn't fall apart on me and the gym is kept clean, particularly the showers. I believe the premium we are paying for the gym is particularly for the cleanliness which after being at 24 hour fitness and la fitness, I understand how disgusting those places can be. Parking - Large parking lot - in the morning parking was pretty easy to park but I am sure this locations can get packed during the afternoon/night time.

But as with any other big box gym, the expensive specialized equipment are also subject to wear and tear. The GM is personable, and makes the rounds to check on people, equipment and cleaning wipes, which are readily available and most people seem to use, so bravo to that. It gets crowded, particularly during the late afternoon to early evenings. During my time here, I've not been snubbed by people, and have offered others to work in because waiting between equipment can take time. Dumbbells are more often than not in the racks where they belong when not used, which is rare in big box gyms. This is probably one of the better big box gyms around. I enjoyed my time here.
