wow this location, once notorious for its outdated lockers where you used to have to bring your own locks, has FINALLY gotten an upgrade with integrated locks!! it is my favorite eqx location of the ones within an under-10-mile radius. the biggest one of the bunch, it is the only one with a dry sauna that doesn't require a higher-tier membership. a regular regional access or single-location membership suffices. it also has a great outdoor pool on the upper deck. it's much bigger than the one in mdr or culver. it's clean. also, free unltd parking in a big lot !!! should be a given but in LA it is not. currently the only other reasonably close-ish location that has a leg up on this one in any way is santa monica with its PR run lab, but south bay is superior to the other pleb-tiered (as pleb as one can get w equinox) locations in every way. deducting a star for its insane prices and the products. wish they'd stuck with kiel's. got a letter in the mail saying they're going to increase the cost of my membership by $17/mo this month. i think it's time to cancel soon... there are better luxe gyms out there at half or less than half the price.

Post AND survey was knowledge by owner (about 3 weeks ago) and their teams CC'd by their owner regarding this issue yet it still persists yet a solution has not been made other than " we value our customers feedback and take is seriously" blah blah blah deescalation excuse. Out here playing in peoples faces and taking their money no issue but can't clean nothing! ---------------------------------------------------- For a"Luxury" gym ... Not sure what's up with the cleaning standards at this location. ESPECIALLY for the price members pay!!! This gym can quite affordably clean and fix issues. Having since restarted the gym towards end of January these mold spots have been there ... and has clearly no attempt has been made to clean them (literally all the showers in the men's locker room). I do understand moisture propagates mold growth. However, it is the facilities responsibility to clean with the appropriate methods for obvious health reasons. In addition, it is beyond me that refilling the shampoo, conditioner, face wash and body wash that has OBVIOUS bacterial growth and biofilm, that these bottles aren't being replaced. This facility and management should be ashamed to allow this to be happening. Cleaning standards should be revamped bc watering down showers is not enough!!!

This location does not have locks on their lockers, so you need to buy a combination lock to bring with you. Every other equinox around the US I've been to within the last several years has built-in locks, so I was very surprised to see this. After I walked into the locker room, I attempted to buy a lock from the front desk. They told me to buy one from the shop, and the shop told me that they didn't have any but I could buy one from the front desk. The front desk also did not have any for sale. There's also no other store in the immediate area that sells combination locks. It's an unsettling feeling to leave your belongings unlocked while working out. On top of this, they've just increased the memberships fees (again!) by $17/mo due to making club improvements.... They do get a star because this is the only equinox I've been to where the conditioner is not mixed into the face wash in the locker room.

I've been going to this location as a trial for a week and I was able to experience a good amount…read moreat this location. I think the experience really depends when you go. I've gone at the wee hours of the night where there's not a lot of people, so there's more parking out in the front. I will say that the section where there's bikes, treadmills, and the pool area is much cooler than the side that has the weights an the basketball court. It's a big difference in the way it feels as if there's little to no air conditioning on the weights side. It feels very musky and difficult for one to really exercise in. Personally, it seemed like it's a clean gym. I've seen a worker even cleaning the vents up top which is much cleaner than my actual gym that I go to which is EOS. So I thought that was a plus. And the women's bathrooms is always on top of it, or at least from what I saw. I liked that this gym has a little daycare place that you can drop off your kids for a maximum of two hours. Not sure the rates, but it seems like a good deal for anyone who needs their kids watched while working out. I've taken two Zumba classes in the rooms and I absolutely loved the fact that the dance room is large. It gives people enough space to move around without feeling like you are in their space. I've worked out at 24 Hour Fitness, Gold's Gym, EOS fitness, and the problem with those gyms is that the classes are just too small. With that said, the only thing is that sometimes the instructors are talking to their fellow dancers (in Spanish) in front of everyone. I'm okay with it cause I love my Latinos, but I can see where someone might feel excluded or may not understand. Which was okay with me but something I just noticed. Parking isn't bad when I came late in the evenings, but during peak hours, it was rough. A lot of people were parking on the red zones or places that I don't think you can normally park. Sometimes across the street or a bit farther down where Best Buy is. I didn't get a chance to park in the parking structure but it also seems very inconvenient for some. My two cents for this place. Not bad, but also not the greatest. But I feel that you'll have to pay more for a better experience. This is, to me, good enough for what the rate of this gym goes for.

Over the years they've continually upgraded their equipment, improved the layout, and made changes that have only made the gym better. During COVID, they adapted quickly and made decisions with their members' health and safety in mind, which I really appreciated. The expanded women's locker room is a great addition, and I love that they've added an entire section of glute-building equipment along with cold plunges. The huge outdoor workout area is perfect, especially with the beautiful weather lately. The gym is thoughtfully organized into different sections, making it easy to focus on whatever muscle group you're training. One of my favorite perks is the recovery room. After a tough workout, I can use the Normatec compression boots or relax in the red light therapy beds to help with recovery. It really feels like a complete fitness experience. To top it all off, Coast Laundry and their wash-and-fold service are right next door, so I can get my laundry done while taking care of my health. It's incredibly convenient to knock out multiple errands in one trip. Highlights: * Front desk staff are usually pretty friendly and helpful (this does vary though) * Huge gym, makes even peak hours not feel too crowded * It's open 24hrs which is incredible and very hard to find nowadays * Wide array of exercise equipment (MMA/boxing heavy bags, cardio machines, plenty of strength/bodybuilding equipment) * Outdoor turf area is great and often underutilized by other gym members so there's always space Areas to improve on: * Constantly broken or very worn down pieces of equipment with long repair windows, many do not get fixed for more than a month * Not nearly enough 2.5lb plates, carabiners (for cable attachments), or cable attachments in general (you will often need to scour the whole gym to find one of these items) * Dumbbells and weight plates are always scattered all over the gym floor and management makes no effort to enforce a better gym culture * Gym seems to have no air conditioning and very poor air circulation often leading the air feeling very stuffy, stale, and smelly (resembling a sitting water smell) * There are only 2 bathroom stalls for men in the entire gym which is far too little especially considering that one of them is frequently out of order * Many of the lockers in the men's locker room are broken or damaged I really hope to see at least some of these issues addressed. Management will keep promoting the purchase of new equipment, which is always nice. However, I would prefer if they properly maintained the current equipment and replaced old/worn/damaged equipment.

One of the owners Gus is pretty amazing at fixing things so you will never really see a machine out of order for any longer than a few short days.
