Mockingbird Station is a very fancy mini outdoor mall that will remind you a little bit of the domain in Austin. It's in North Dallas right off the highway in a very Prime area. It doesn't matter that there are three or four other major malls including the Galleria and Northpark within a couple of miles of here. Because this mall still gets massive traffic, and parking on one of the street spots which are metered quite expensively is still difficult. The VS store here is small and claustrophobic but has plenty of good stuff, and the Bath & Body store is nice with great employees as well. All in all Mockingbird is a great little Mall and Barbie made it look even better. Just don't make fun of any avian creatures while you're shopping here. It's not nice to go around Mockingbirds.

Snider Plaza is one of those places that I can think back over time long ago, sometime ago and yesterday. Each time period holds pleasant memories sometimes dramatic. Back before 10 speed bikes were a thing,not many people had them. The Sears catalog is where I spotted my first one and wanted one for months. Somehow I found out about the Schwinn shop in Snider Plaza. So,I saved and eventually my grandmother took me there where I purchased a bright green mens 10 speed with drop handlebars wrapped in neon green tape. I can't drive down Hillcrest and into Snider Plaza without looking over and thinking about it. These days my old stand by fried chicken institution,Bubbas Cooks Country is the reason I show up most. However, there are many other great restaurants and antique stores I visit time to time in Snider Plaza.

There is a lot of retail and restaurant turnover, but there are also icons that have been there for decades: Kuby's, Banditos, Half Shells, Amore, Bubba's, and Penne Pomodoro come to mind. We also tried Coastal Cuisine several years ago and we should return since we did like it. You could establish a rotation of restaurants to eat at just on the plaza, not to mention the restaurants that are a few minutes walk along Hillcrest. This trip we discovered some new restaurants that look like they might be worth checking out. Parking can be tight but if you can find a spot, it is fun to walk the plaza and window shop or do real shopping. This time we saw some new places that offer outside seating so if you want a break from shopping, you can stop for a snack or drink of some kind and relax when the weather is nice. When you are done eating, drinking, and shopping, you can walk for a bit through the beautiful SMU campus.

The colorful stalls are enticing and really succeed in drawing you in. This market also has traditional Hispanic gourmet, (Not Tex-Mex) with plenty of unique things to try. This shopping center has been around for about 3 years and it's really nice that the developers are revitalizing this part of Northwest Highway and getting rid of outdated car dealerships and making the area more consumer-friendly. The shopping center has a Walmart, Chick-fil-a, and a number of other businesses. They even have a multi-level parking garage that takes the hassle out of driving around trying to find a parking spot. It's nice, clean, and has a general "safe" feeling unlike some other places where you're constantly having to check over your shoulder for who might be lurking.

The Timber Creek Crossing Shopping Center traffic exit/entrance onto NW Hwy westbound seems to cause traffic issues and misses on NW Hwy westbound lane from what I have seen, now sometimes I avoid that secion of NW Hwy. The entrance into the shopping center at Theater road has a particularly steep and sharp turn. This is a brand new shopping center that is clean, well landscaped, and well kept so far. There are several major stores (Sams, Walmart, JCPenney), banks, fast food restaurants (Whataburger, CiCi's Pizza, Chick-Fil-A, Del Taco), and various other businesses. There is a Sephora store inside JCPenneys.
